Fine. Disagree with me. Like you said, you'll be wrong. From the NCAA rulebook:
-
Attention all Sioux hockey tailgaters: I will be coming around "Trick or Treating!" on October 31, prior to the Yale at UND game. Please be prepared with suitable quality and quantities of beer, er, I mean "treats." Thank you.
-
No, they'd say UND is playing the cupcakes of the NHL.
-
I don't think anyone, not even Hennen, would give up a gig where you get to watch Sioux hockey without paying for admission (and from the press box no less). Thoughts on this PCM? Regarding the player info displays: The observant amongst you would note it is the same format/layout used for football at The Al as well. I expect is is this season's genre for all sports.

You're right. We did have a failure to communicate. You provided a nice opportunity to point out that UND's non-conference schedule, although not spectacular, wasn't the worst to be found. Some UND fans needed to hear it. (I worried that you'd construe it to be a shot at you when it was intended for schedule nay-sayers in general. It was a risk but I went with it anyway. Sorry.) About DII thinking: Sadly, it appears to be prolific across the whole NCAA. Examples? - A 65 team DI basketball tournament that maybe a dozen and a half have a legitmate chance at winning, but you have to let them have their (alleged) shot. - DIII trying to make the DIIIs that play DI in one sport (Colorado College, St. Lawrence, RPI, Union, Clarkson in hockey, Johns Hopkins in lacrosse) not give scholarships to their DI athletes. - All the things you mentioned in DII.
-
Whew! Touchy. If you look closely, you'll see that is aimed more at UND than even you. And it wasn't aimed at you as much as all the people who complained about UND's non-conference schedule. You just happened to be the one to give me the perfect set-up. Thanks!

Find a copy of Sports Illustrated from March 4, 2002. There's a story with real scientific polling data (Peter Harris Research Group) of the American Indian population. A sample:

How can this be? I thought someone else had that "honor."

PCM blew more than the Diggler DQ and Hennen predictions. My section was awake the whole time without my assistance. I had it 8-3 Prpich over Peluso on the punch counter. In 10-point-must scoring I'd have given the round to Prpich 10-7. By my understanding of the rules, Prpich will have to sit on October 17. Why exhibitions count if you draw a penalty (Schneider vs. Manitoba in 10/2001) but don't count if you have to sit out makes about as much sense as any NCAA rule. The throw-back jerseys? Throw 'em back. You can't tell the players apart.

Wilson actually threw - to open receivers down the middle, and - to a tight end. I know, I know, it's crazy-talk. When Klosterman held it gave a three-dimensional threat: kick, pass, or maybe he'd just take off around the corner.

Is it possible to be the UNDerdog in your own barn that you are 15-4 in? Guess so.

I wonder if he was on the call or read it here? http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/sports/6929724.htm

If this were a contest where you get 3 points for picking the captain and one point for naming the name of an alternate, I'd have to say "sioux fan in phoenix" won. They may have picked an "A" incorrectly, but they got the big three points for picking Schneider with a "C" and a point for Hale with an "A" for four points. "Siouxhockey03" would come in second with 3 points: right three names, wrong order. "redwing77" gets 2.5 points for that "Lundbohm or Parise" cop-out.

The Al bought some more adjoining land over the summer. More parking is planned. UND also made mention of putting in a parking ramp during the summer. They never said where. How about between Harvard and Cambridge Streets south of Sixth Avenue North.

That number is the "capped out" max in their old barn. Yes, they averaged "sold out" for the season. They'll probably take a good run at #1 total and #1 average in NCAA hockey attendance this season. Not having people right behind them on the glass has to make goalies appreciate the place.

How bad was the goaltending? Well .... not really that bad. http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/sports/6920921.htm

I didn't hear Ziegelmann. I just heard Hakstol on with Tim and Swyg say "one of the young guys" and "not Jake" in reference to the starting goalie against Duluth. He didn't specifically say Ziggy. Are you sure he's the guy?

I thought fans were tough. Check out what one of the players thinks: http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/sports/6911672.htm One for sixteen isn't getting it done. How about we talk about five for twenty next week.

Nets behind goals at the Ralph???
The Sicatoka replied to Fighting Sioux Fan's topic in Men's Hockey
If they ran the net from the top of the glass to the bottom edge of the electronic ring it would minimize the sight-line impact for the great majority of folks and yet still protect the crowd. I'm not too worried about the stray puck doing much damage in the upper deck. Now it's time to go work on that "invisible netting" patent.
