GrahamKracker, About your signature, "Do you think JESUS would wear a SIOUX Jersey??" We can never know. As a public institution, someone would be offended by bringing religion (Jesus's statement) into a public campus discussion and put the ACLU all over us. I could only guess as to who would do it. Thanks for your time.

We try to slap a label on something and claim we understand it. The world is much more complex than labels. You can interact with the world one of two ways: - You can open your mind and enjoy and embrace the naturally occuring diversity of everything around you accepting that some things may be novel and some common, some good and some bad, some miserable and some enjoyable or - You can put labels on everything as an attempt to pigeon-hole everything around you into simple little conformist containers that your brain can wrap itself around so you never have to think about and understand the complexity that is everything.

'Kessel'? I saw a "Duncan" ripping around the ice, "Notermann-ing" a point blank shot, and then scoring on an off-speed job later. I saw a "Kozek" fire a nasty twisted-wrister from 50 feet past a pretty solid goalie. I saw a "Toews" draw "Notermann" twice from point blank by being in the right spot at the right time. (No worries Jonathan. You'll bury them when they count.) Who is this 'Kessel'?

New Campus Organization - Looking for Members!

Remember: It's not what you say, it's how I interpret what I think you might have said. -
Scary, but I almost agree with the Dakota Student editorial board once in my life. http://www.thedakotastudent.com/vnews/disp...9/433c8752c10bb And here's one that better: What's funny is that Mr. Engelstad seems rather tame now compared to what Florida State and Utah have been able to achieve with money and power.

"Hostile and abusive" proven untrue --> Slander. Slander --> Damages. Damages -->
-
You mean like the Chief Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces? There are only nine better judicial chairs in the land.
-
Who's campaigning for "Flickertails" (gag). Go Cavalry!
-
Just replace "Sioux" and the logo on the front with the words: Hostile and Abusive Player Follows
-
Make it lucrative: Include a slander suit for calling UND "hostile and abusive" when the US Office for Civil Rights says it found no such thing and the NCAA had that information. Slander --> Damages.

Question: What if the "prospect or the prospect's relatives or legal guardians" makes unsolicited contact with you (say sends you an email)? And I just love the NCAA. Talk about building a watch instead of telling you what time it is (from the DI manual):
-
So what to do if your friend tells you something unsolicited about their relative (a potential recruit)? (insert Diggler's signature here, the underlined part) (now read my signature) (And no tony, that was aimed generally, not at you.)
-
If a family member told this to a friend that seems "in bounds" by tony's link. I just hope this is much ado about nothing. Amy Ruley could clear this all up by saying she's contacted no potential recruits in the last (however many) days. She can't use a name, but a generic statement would clear it right up. If it can't be cleared up in that manner, yes, the gloves would be off due to this strike and Buning and Taylor would need to restore order. PS - http://www.fightingsioux.com/info/booster/

(sound "Charge!" bugle call here)

Where's the line between "different opinion" (protected speech) and "insubordination" (grounds for termination, even for tenured faculty)?
-
It's not looking good for a "didn't know" theory: The AP Wire story: http://www.broward.com/mld/cctimes/sports/12715273.htm (Note this is coming from a FLORIDA paper.) The GF Herald: http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/s...ta/12708861.htm
-
Let me make one other note here: I still believe putting in the west frontage road (along I-29) from Demers to 32nd Ave S and putting in an underpass at 17th Avenue would help GF in many ways: - access to the west to expand the existing (and what should be prime) industrial area from Demers to 32nd -- interstate crossings is what held Fargo growth back for a long time - access to and from the Alerus Center The other issue in that area that needs to be addressed is an underpass for 42nd Street at the tracks at Demers.

A resolution got FSU, CMU, and Utah under seven-day turnaround. Not for UND. If the NCAA is attempting to influence the situation to try to cover up their (dare I say slanderous) accusations against UND that could make a slander lawsuit even more lucrative to UND --> not only did they slander, they tried to cover it up (which is a clear acquiescence to the slander!).
-
I find that rather interesting. Indian Country Today has never seen an anti-mascot article it didn't like; yet, in this case, they print a sentence that reads like a disclaimer. It even said "alleged threats." Could it be that Indian Country Today was looking to protect itself against what comes after printing false accusations? (If you aren't sure what that is look up "libel" in the dictionary. )

The chancellor of UM-Duluth was on the NCAA Executive Committee that voted to put UND on the "Unspoken 18". Now, the shoe is on the other foot: The visitor's locker room in the DECC is pink*. * It was done during Mike Sertich's last year as "head 'dog".
-
I agree with you, but the NCAA can only afford so many legal fees at one time.
-
The Alerus (a convention center, look at the big ball room) will never reach its potential without a (walking distance) hotel.

NCAA claims Indian mascot guidelines apply to BCS
The Sicatoka replied to jimdahl's topic in UND Nickname
So the NCAA is pulling out the "licensing" angle on the BCS bowl games to try to further assert their "authori-tay" [/Eric Cartman]. Very nice. I see this as simply another straw. Don't be surprised if the camel called "the superconferences" shakes off the straw off their back and forms their own association.
