  1. More info: http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/news/r...RELEASE_ID=5044
  2. Wisconsin? Uh, don't they continue to have more than one organized chant that contains a wee bit of profanity?
  3. UND goes DI; USD (assumably) goes DI; UNO goes to MIAA; there's no conference left there to "merge". I see the remnants (SCSU, MSU, UMD, Augie) going to the NSIC. "Number of FB scholarships" is an easier conversation than "we don't have a conference at all". Wasn't there talk a while back that the DAC was trying to lure in an NSIC school (UM-C)?
  4. I'm surprised more was not made of ND State Board of Higher Education member Ritchie Smith telling Dr. Hart (president of NDSCS) that she should (paraphrased) get married. * Is this the role and responsibility of an ND SBoHE member? And is the very same Ritchie Smith that already has some, including the ND Attorney General, looking over his shoulder regarding the shove of former Chancellor Robert Potts toward the door? Why yes it is. Is this another attempt to shove someone out of the system by Smith (and anyone else he can't seem to remember he talked to and what they didn't talk about)? Who would gain what if this is a shove? Personally, I believe Dr. Hart needs the name of a good sexual harassment attorney and Smith should step down given the cloud of doubt and questionable judgement he's surrounded himself with. * Search Google for "NDSCS PRESIDENT: BOARD MEMBER SAID SHE NEEDS HUSBAND" for more information.
  5. (insert program item here) will make (insert program name here) a perenial powerhouse.
  6. Bison? Bison. It's what's for dinner!
  7. From the genie in his bottle of M/D 20-20 (and she lied to him).
  8. I'm sure phrases like: Montana State over Colorado, Chadron over Montana State, New Hampshire over Northwestern will abound as motivation this week in practice. However, this is what I most like to see:
  9. Yes, we had our "UNI" day. We should savor it. However, lest we forget the other side of the fence, and being the team that shouldn't lose. Dare I say "US International" (and in a championship season no less)? Winning as "the 'dog" is nice; wearing the target has its own enjoyable cachet as well.
  10. Here's hoping UNI hangs the banner (they came up just short of last year) this year.
  11. I thought that was the high school between Buxton and Reynolds along old Highway 81. No, wait, ....
  12. One more for here: 6. Woe be to SDSU going into UNI this week.
  13. No, that's coming when Rocky returns to the Fargodome. Now "The Force of the North" is a whole other story.
  14. That's just (a) nails on a chalkboard and (b) hugely ironic to me. I'd love to explain why but I have a lot to get done and can not allot more time to this discussion. Sorry for the interruption. PS - I struggle to find the defensive corps I'd trade UND's for right now.
  15. You missed "reality" TV and "talent" shows (like Idol American).
  16. I don't know if you heard correctly, but if you did that'd be a big ol' orange middle finger aimed at Myles Brand (on national TV no less).
  17. What do I think? 1. I think the gap from the top of DII to the top of DI-AA isn't as big as some would have us believe. 2. I think the Gophers laid a serious smack, on the road, on a MAC team earlier this season. 3. I think the Gophers will be reminded of Montana State over Colorado and New Hampshire over Northwestern many times in the week before that game v. NDSU. 4. I think UND will be reminded of Montana State's flop after beating Colorado many times this week. 5. I think NDSU had better worry about 230-ish pound defensive ends against 330-ish pound tackles for Northeastern. (Rocky would love nothing better than .... ) PS - I hear Northeastern runs a 3-4 defense.
  18. Agreed.
  19. Original. (The Feds use lethal injection, not the electric chair.)
  20. Dear RT, Dude, Duluth and Augie don't have the "bling." And the Mid-Con wouldn't look at adding up to four (UND, SCSU, MSU-Mankato, USD) schools to make 16; they'd add that many if there was a mass Mid-Con exodus first. But in that scenario the Mid-Con could be short the key prize: the MBB autobid.
  21. I can't disagree with that; however, ... What are the goals of Sac St and Northern Arizona, and I'll toss Portland State into the mix also? If it's to expand their base in Canada there's a nice option for them. If it's to move to a Pacific time zone or west coast only conference there are other options (which most likely don't align with the rest of the BSC). What are their goals? Again, "we shall see".
  22. We all agree that the BSC is a tough "read" as to what their goals are. Now, let me ask a simple question: What are their goals? If it was to spread into the Dakotas, yes, the SU "2-for-1" would be perfectly logical. Apparently, based on actions (or is it inactions?) that's not the goal. If it was to add large metro TV markets there are other solutions. If it was to expand their audience (and credibility, and recruiting base) to the north, meaning Canada, there are solutions for that. Like PCM posted in another thread: "Anybody can say anything. Nobody knows everything." What are the goals of the BSC? "We shall see" is the safest statement.
  23. Did you know that just recently Grand Forks International Airport (GFK) received a grant to improve customer services and to lure in an airline with a western hub. A most amazing coincidence I'd say.
  24. I say this is the game we let Mussman put some things "on the game film" to let the rest of the NCC fret about for the rest of the season. If they work against UNI all the better; if they don't, UND lost to the #3 ranked DI-AA in the country. Seems kind of "no lose" to me.
  25. Why would a school that has a history of winning exhibitions against DI BB teams go DII? Why would they want to guarantee to double their "newbie" pergatory (new DII probation followed by DI transition probation later on)? They'd probably struggle mightily in BSC FB at first, but in MBB they'd be an instant challenger. And let's not mention what they could do in hockey from the start. I'd guess they'd prefer going DI immediately (if a conference slot was available to them).
