Shoot-out: When no one can win the first game you play a new game, with all new rules, and the winner wins both that new game and the original game. Let's go to 3 balls for a walk and 2 strikes for a strikeout in the tenth and beyond.

These guys named Woodward and Bernstein had a first-person source they called "deep throat" for decades (without revealing an identity) and they pretty much brought down someone far more important than an athletic director. If there's a problem, why isn't someone quietly going first-person to the media.
-
If there is a problem I'd love to have someone step up, on the record, and define it in a first-person account. I'm willing to listen to someone on-the-record stating the issues. But they wouldn't do it here. They'd do it in the media, and that's fine. Until someone goes on-the-record I get the sense of a (how'd Tran put it?) whisper campaign.

I'm fine with people saying they don't like dealing with Buning as long as they were dealing first-person. The "my buddy's pal told me" stuff wears thin; but, I'll trust first-person reports. Who here in dealing with the AD has a first-person horror story they'd like to share.

Given 2 of the last 3 had no UND ties that's a safe bet.

I'm glad at least someone got it.

It would be interesting to know what was so important that led a state's attorney to take something into a court room that would get tossed after an hour. A state's attorney has to have a pretty good idea going in if he can win or not. To get tossed in an hour? That's a waste of his time, the court's time, and the taxpayer dollar ... unless there's something that can be gained by making the effort. What was the state's attorney trying to gain, what precedent was he looking to set, by doing this?
-
And I need one more just so I understand everyone's point of view: Is this more of the problem or more of the solution?
-
Just so I'm clear on your opinion, if Dale would have left in 2002 for Sacramento State would that have been Buning's fault too?
-
The fact remains that the chief of police of Grand Forks met with the team after this incident. That signals that the police were looking to send a message. Apparently the state's attorney agreed with the police if he took this (something a judge tossed after an hour) into a courtroom. I could dredge up history of guys on the roster and run-ins with law enforcement but why. The key is the police believed it was time for a message to be sent. Either GF has the ND version of LAPD (and every hockey player is named Rodney King) or there's more to the story than we know.

You could go back to Post #6 of this thread, or not.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet on this guy who later resigned.

Well if they're that small why isn't Boston College recruiting them.

"All bad. You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes by yourself, and you feel shame, you know. - Mm-hm. - And then you get free." [/ bad French-Canadian goalie accent]

So Fargo is going to finally have a real hockey complex (by any standard excepting Ralph Engelstad Arena). I guess I'm surprised because there have been so many words and so little action in the past. With five sheets (main arena plus four practice) I'm guessing the "summer time" ice will be at most two practice sheets. It's not cheap to keep ice in the summer, especially when the arena could be used for other events.

The other assistant is named, and it's the name widely speculated at USCHO. Maria Lewis: http://fightingsioux.xosn.com/ViewArticle....p;ATCLID=944939

It's a slow day. Here's something to read other than UND Sports information on AreaVoices. I hope you all enjoy it.

You're allowed to dress and warm-up 3 goalies at home but have to declare which one would come in for the starter.
-
One extra line on the roster (injuries, competition) has been that way as long as I can remember. The normal shape I've seen over time has been, Game day line-up: 12 forwards, 6 defense, 2 goalies. Team roster: 15 forwards, 8 defense, 3 goalies.
-
At risk of repeating myself, a year from now we could be looking at a returning defense made up of: Jones, Genoway, Marto, LaPoint. There are enough forwards for 2007-2008 (see my predicted list). Let Chay develop at defense. He'll have to log a ton of hours there in 2008-2009 so best learn now.
