  1. A blizzard or that thing. North Dakota ain't so bad.
  2. Is this moratorium just time to give the superconferences time to enact a different option?
  3. Interesting group this is, to say the least. I think I'll keep my C-note and a half.
  4. You think I'm kidding? Does the Pembina Nation Little Shell tribe claim to be Sioux? If so, we all should join. EDIT: Dang, they are Ojibwa (Chippewa).
  5. I just burned a Pizza Corner supreme (while reading this).
  6. What Paulsen said is the simple reality since a December day back in 2000, isn't it? The ND SBoHE took control of the issue that day (from the UND president) and has held it since.
  7. I recall this guy , back in 2002, both here and at Bisonville, saying there is a "missing level" and the NCAA system is broken.
  8. 12:30 to 1:00? Won't that interrupt the lunch time pinochle game?
  9. Losing O'Brien unexpectedly or hanging on to TJ Oshie for another season (to me unexpectedly, because he could've gone). Losing O'Brien unexpectedly or losing TJ Oshie after 3 years. I'm thinking Lucia's position is far worse right now. At least we kind of expect to lose that group (Oshie, Duncan, Chorney, Finley) and the 2008 recruiting class seems to be adjusting and preparing for it. I still think of all of the bad listed here (and losing UND's four next summer isn't good), Lucia still got the worst of it because he got told one thing and received another, with school starting in a couple weeks, and now only 7 defensemen (and 3 of them freshmen). Aw shucks for him. If there's a lesser of two evils in this, I think UND (by having the option of a prepared recruiting class) got the lesser evil.
  10. I read this, specifically and I just can't seem to stop smirking for some reason. Who has a really-really-really bad job right now? Jeff Frazee.
  11. So what do we have here: - a coach nearing the end of a contract and looking to extend - forces (for unknown motives) trying to "draw out" the AD to get it done, and claiming the AD is upsetting people - some then question bringing these matters out to public - some speculating on "if he leaves, then who?" - some speculating that he may be ready to make the choice to move on to higher levels - others calling for patience and reason in the matter - some speculating that other items need to be dealt with and put into alignment first That sums this thread up pretty well, doesn't it. Too bad I'm talking about a 2003 thread involving coach Dean Blais, AD Roger Thomas, and a contract. In the words of Yogi Berra, "It's deja vu all over again."
  12. No Fighting Sioux Club means no scholarship dollars for athletes. No athletes means no games. No games means no worries about tickets on the 50. I guess that plan could work, depending on your definition of work. Things cost money; you have to pay the bills.
  13. No, I pick where I'd rather shop and go there.
  14. Life's been good to me so far ....
  15. I'd love to be driving a Maserati (sure would cut the commute time). But they don't make those available to the general public.
  16. I can shop in Fargo or Grand Forks just as easily on a Saturday afternoon. I normally choose Grand Forks because the traffic is better and I'm a SuperTarget fan.
  17. Ya made it so easy for me. PS - Johnson's replacement in Lincoln has been named.
  18. C'mon, what'd it take to extend Appert at RPI? A fresh coat of paint in his office at Houston Fieldhouse, all the complimentary left-over after game popcorn he could eat, and one of those "50 cents off a new car at Rydell Chevy" coupons they drop from the blimps to the student at REA to be used the next time the Engineers come west? If that's what RPI gave him, they overbid. As some have made mention of, extending Hak will take some dollars of consequence right now. Making that fit into a transitional DI budget is no easy task. Folks concerned about this shouldn't be harping here, they should be filing out the pledge forms or checks. And you'd think someone at Alumni would be working hard to keep Hakstol and their grandkids, er, uh, (oops, I mean,) and Hak's family, in Grand Forks, wouldn't ya? Remember, Blais' last extention was an amalgamation of various gifts and enticements to stay. You'd think Alumni led that in some manner. Why not that approach again?
  19. They were juniors at S-SM last season and HS juniors can't sign a national letter of intent. Now, I forget the exacts on this so I need some help: Were they eligible to sign a letter during this summer (after junior year) or do they have to wait until their senior year has started and sign during the one-week period in November or after?
  20. Boise State must have cost someone a lot of money.
  21. Never attended any of the Writer's Conference events, until now.
