  1. I think we have passed the rumor phase with this: http://greatwestconference.cstv.com/ Note the word "football" no longer appears in that link. And this is a pretty good give-away on the news too. http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.d...;ATCLID=1507318 PS - Anyone think they put the press conference today to get the message out to those participating in the Sioux-per Swing who might not otherwise hear about it for some period of time?
  2. It appears that all of the players in this new conference set a common time for local press conferences as a collaboration. As such, you'll probably have some conflicts for some of them, in this case UND's Sioux-per Swing event.
  3. So, in a fervent attempt to disparage lacrosse, you've pointed out why lacrosse is a sport, classic sport: You need a team, a top to bottom team, of well-rounded, total athletes. You can't get away with an overspecialized line-up like basketball (a dribbler, a shooter, a big guy, a rebounder, and a defender and you have a team) or football (blockers, runners, throwers and that's all they do) or baseball (power hitter, slap hitters, average hitters) as they've become today. You need a team of five skill players: Run Fast, Run Agile, Toss Accurately, Toss Hard, Catch (what would be called a "five tools guy" in baseball). Every guy on the team needs to be able to run, catch, and toss. So yeah, you'd need the best total package athletes from those other sports, because the others would be missing something that's needed in lacrosse.

You moved those guys (Roehl, et al) to linebacker?
  5. No, this is exactly why you report these events: - so they get recorded - so they get investigated - so they get reviewed under rule of law - so they get resolved properly under the law But it's so much more fun to play the media game of half-truths, rumor, and inuendo, isn't it. You make a huge assumption there. Mammoth.
  6. I'm partial to the simple but effective block letter "UND" (horizontal) used with/in the 125 anniversary logo. An example can be found if you scroll down to "125 year marks" here: http://www.und.edu/dept/our/logos/northdakota.pdf

If he'd been suspended from the team, maybe. He was dismissed from the team. That type of decision is seldom reversed.
  9. I take it you aren't sophisticated enough to understand the term 'cynicism' as that is what the author was expressing.
  10. No, I'm saying Bickel (who is far less ready for the next level than Finley) found a creative way to avoid the end of the conversation that he started with Big Joe. Avoid ... for now ... that is. Joe will finish the conversation somewhere, sometime.
  11. In a word: Dismissed.
  12. Finley says he's coming back. Bickel decides to sign. Coincidence? You decide.
  13. Finley's defensive partner made decisions that left him covering odd-man rushes more than once. Finley's defensive partner had his lowest performing game of his season that fateful Thursday.
  14. See this for some great words about the moniker. http://www.grandforksherald.com/ap/index.c...mp;id=D91JVJ900

  16. That quote will haunt him throughout his career. Why? Some day Coach Jones or AD Faison will be asked about this guy as a coach. What'll they have to say.
  17. As July 1 is just around the corner it's time to look back at the Kupchella administration and welcome in UND President Robert O. Kelley -- or as I'll call him "The ROK" A nice editorial on Kupchella by the Fargo Forum: http://www.in-forum.com/Opinion/articles/206524
  18. It read to me as right out of the Forum Communications (The Forum, WDAY-AM, WDAY-TV, etc.) style manual.
  19. More details: http://www.undalumni.org/NetCommunity/Document.Doc?id=415 Two million thank yous to the Hoffmans.
  20. Ya mean we don't need colleges in Bottineau, Williston, Valley City, Mayville, and Devils Lake? It was bad before, but with IVN and Distance Education and internet courses 11 colleges in ND has become a true anachronism.
  21. Goetz is a western ND guy: legislator, former faculty at Dickinson State. If anything, he was put in play to appease the western part of the state, not UND and not NDSU.
  22. Funny is that Chapman's been allowed to be the "cowboy" of the NDUS system this long. However, there's a new sheriff in town named Goetz.
  23. Metrodome? Why not get truly wacky and pick the Blue Bombers' home. A little restriping and "Presto!" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canad_Inns_Stadium

  25. This whole situation was prime for a fabulous First Amendment lawsuit: "How can anyone stifle the words a public university?" would have been the crux of the case. It would have been epic. Instead, like Mark Steyn in Canada, free speech lost again. The Canadian style human rights tribunals with their star chamber tactics can't be far behind.
