  1. Fixed your post to reflect DeBoer's move to position himself for an FCS head job. That FCS OC experience could end up giving DeBoer a leg up over other candidates with head coaching experience.

  3. Too bad the Lamoureux's are with Team USA this weekend. http://undhockey.areavoices.com/
  4. Kalen DeBoer says, "Yeah, ... and?" DeBoer was 67-3, three NAIA titles, a runner-up, and a semis loss in five years at U of Sioux Falls. If UND ends up looking in the future, I'd like someone who has been a head coach at some level (beyond HS) previously.
  5. Good list. I'm not a Ovechkin guy so I'd swap him out for Crosby. Byfuglien is an interesting name to pop up. I'd look for a guy who makes those around him better. That screams Toews or Crosby. I'm with Jim: I'm not confident in taking a goalie in this scenario
  6. Congratulations. You've just been awarded the next NHL franchise. If you win a Stanley Cup in the first ten years you owe nothing. If you don't, you have to give the franchise back (and you owe any money you may have lost along the way). As part of the deal you get to take one current NHL player from any team, with no penalty, to start your team. Then we go with the standard expansion draft to complete your roster. So, who ya takin' to start your franchise?
  7. Each school made the best possible move given situation and circumstance at the time. And the landscape will keep changing around them and each will keep acting according to their best interests. Folks, we all need to revisit this simple concept: What is best for NDSU may not be best for UND. What is best for UND may not be best for NDSU. To believe otherwise is foolhearty.
  8. You're implicitly assuming that teams won't change (get better or worse) over time. That's not an assumption that holds over history.
  9. Did NDSU have fans at EWU and Montana State recent? My, no. That's sure the end of the world away. ...
  10. Are we sure WYOBISONMAN isn't the model?
  11. Rocco making the team would have made him a potential three WJC team guy. There aren't many of those.
  12. That's "Lasso Pete", and no, he's not related to Dale Lennon as far as I know. He used to be "Pistol Pete" but he was disarmed by those who found a picture of a pistol to be too scary.
  13. Be careful to not pop your own shoulder out patting yourself on the back like that.
  14. It's a non-conference game. It counts on overall record, in RPI, in PWR, but not in WCHA standings.
  15. Marquetter was using an Native American themed logo (like UND's). That was the core issue. "Warriors" went with the Native American head logo. Winona State uses a Spartan/Trojan looking logo with Warriors and they're on the NCAA "nice" list.
  16. That'd be a little difficult. It's been torn down since 2006.
  17. Dear Santa, We would like an FCS competent quarterback that defenses take seriously. That way we won't have to face 8 and 9 men in the box looks and can start putting up numbers again. See, we really aren't asking for much so we hope you'll come through. Signed, Josh Murray Mitch Sutton Jake Miller
  18. Birgit Hans? BJ Rainbow? What are their qualifications to be on any such committee, other than to appease certain (overrepresented, or is it overinfluential) sectors? Bruce Smith? The same Bruce Smith who touted his willingness to drop the Fighting Sioux nickname as a reason for him to succeed Kupchella? Yeah, that guy as co-chair of the committee certainly gives no reason for paranoia. The average fan is underrepresented on that list. The average fan is losing the most, and that includes their "voice" in this change. The committee may not be stacked per se, but it sure has folks that seem willing to kowtow to a minority of a minority.
  19. Let's see ... Inclusive. Check. "The entire ... community" ... not quite exactly "diverse" but I'll give it a check-minus. So far, that process is shaping up to be every bit as "transparent" and "inclusive" as the one used to get rid of the current Fighting Sioux nickname and logo. And if the "entire" UND "community" must support the nickname, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which special interest group will have veto power over anything it doesn't like.
  20. You missed one on Saturday. JT Miller got a deflection goal on the power play in an exhibition game ... I forget where.
  21. This person understands why for UND Big Sky >> Summit + football independent
  22. WYO: The NDSU football team was 2 and 8 in 2009. You, if anyone, should know that (a) transition time can be rough, and (b) things can change rather quickly. I see you on a horse in your avatar. Hold tight onto those reigns as it's rough when one falls from a high horse.
  23. It's not paranoia when you see Kelley stacking current committees with anti-Sioux moniker folks. The latest was last week's committee that's asking local businesses to also drop the use of the word Sioux. That's classic "wise and knowing" (aka academic elite mindset) move. Yeah, I can really see Siouxland Buffalo changing it's name to make Dr. Kelley and Leigh Jeanotte happy. Given that non-sense, I can't wait to see who's on the moniker committee. The "people in charge" of the Big Ten thought divisions called "Legends" and "Leaders" were a great idea. That doesn't give me a lot of hope.
  24. The outgoing wasn't "diverse and inclusive" so it had to go according to the "wise and knowing". Given the power ceded to them already, they'll want say over the new moniker.
