  1. According to Schlossman's blog, seems the former UND blueliner who recently signed with Detroit will be wearing jersey #64. A couple years ago we were all excited to be getting a Dell; the Red Wings are getting a Commodore 64.
  2. How's that any different from me walking up to a UND coach and saying "There's this kid you really need to take a look at."
  3. SCSU? The school that dropped Homecoming because they couldn't afford it? The school that almost dropped football in the last year because they couldn't afford it? That SCSU? They have money issues across the board in athletics. They're not in a position to make a deep fiscal commitment to hockey. But the moniker thing does make me smirk all the more.
  4. My hunch says Notre Dame is looking out for Notre Dame. You'll know where they got the most of what they wanted by where they go.
  5. You'd burn up just about all your space for non-conference games.
  6. Providing the by-laws might show that UMTC and UW might have been able to change or get an exemption to the Big Ten "if six play we play Big Ten" rule ... but they didn't.
  7. No idea, but I do see two incoming freshmen who were Penticton Vees and ended up 2nd and 3rd in scoring on that team last year.
  8. Did Minnesota and Wisconsin put forth the proposal to remove the "if six play the sport we play as Big Ten" rule from the Big Ten rulebooks? If they couldn't affect the whole rule, did they put forth a proposal to exempt hockey from the rule? It's a Big Ten rule. They could change it, or they could ignore it like the Big Ten does with some NCAA rules (see: Ohio State football). But we never heard about UMTC or UW even trying. They just went merrily along. And try to blame UND.
  9. USCHO.com Sure, but they are blaming the breakup of the WCHA on UND, forgetting that the Big Ten was the first shoe to drop onto the fate of the WCHA.
  10. Did they sign National Letters of Intent to Northeastern for this season? If so, I believe they're not available to anyone this season (even if N'eastern "releases" them from the NLIs). PS - The names are Garrett Haar and John Gaudreau.
  11. Either: a) State that they're a go b) State that if they get money right away they'll go really soon c) State that they can't do it. I'm really out there on a limb with that, aren't I?
  12. Wednesday they said they haven't got a name yet. An obvious name to come up would be a guy who is a former DI head coach, former AD, and former commissioner of a developmental league: John "Gino" Gasparini.
  13. C'mon star, you can't put scenarios out there where long rumored DI programs, stalled by conference gridlock, might actually come about and college hockey might grow from the creation of The National. You can't do that. You just can not do that. Even when MSU-Moorhead seems to be positioning for starting their long rumored program. You must comply with the Minnesota spin that UND killed college hockey. Resistance is futile. Discussion is irrelevant.

  16. UND loses "never stepped on ice as a collegian" JT Miller. Wisconsin loses leading returning scorer and would-be 2011-12 captain Craig Smith. UND got a door ding. UW needs a new fender.
  17. Oh, ... you mean on the TV broadcasts.
  18. When I heard about the fire and smoke damage in REA I wondered if some of the existing electronics would need replacement ... and upgrade to high-def. We can dream can't we?
  19. I'll go coincidence because that font has that serif (I think that's the word for it) like the new "North Dakota" font (see my signature line below for example).
  20. Notre Dame makes their list. Florida State does not. Clearly Jesse Taken Alive needs to educate these people.

  22. I keep hearing "travel budgets" ... OK ... UND already has to travel to UMD, DU, CC, and UNO. No change. In terms of distance Miami is further than Tech, but is probably logistically easier to get to. Cost is probably higher. And then there's Anchorage. And not travelling there. That's a savings (because they stopped paying travel costs for conference mates a couple years ago). And honestly, I expect UND will become somewhat like the UMs (Minnesota and Michigan). UND has the big rink. UND probably will not travel as much non-conference unless someone makes it worthwhile for UND. Not many have the wherewithall to do that.
  23. SCSU brings nothing to the table that UMD doesn't already. This type of move is about "media footprints" and there's no sense in duplicating it. Notre Dame brings national name recognition. I'm not sold on WMU either. They had one good year and lost that coach already. They're calling it NATIONAL College Hockey Conference. Oxford, OH, to Denver, CO, really isn't "national". I wonder ...
