http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,2102772,00.html?xid=gonewsedit Finally Spirit Lake gets on the attack the right way. Pressure the NCAA nationally. I've been saying "Federal court", but this may work nearly as well. And anyone else notice that the pro- folks (both SR and SL) are willing to talk but the anti- folks have gone silent in that piece? (And I know this is in the other thread, but it's the first major news source article that's even remotely sympathetic to the pro-moniker view.)

My guess as to what the new turf at Alerus Center will look like? See: Field Turf at Memorial.

Realities for this game: - Finals week at UND. There were two kinds of students this late in the (finals) week: those who had finals left to study for and those who'd gone home already - Week night within 10 days of Christmas. Folks need to get that last minute consumeris ..., er, I mean holiday spirit moving - Week night in general. You'll only get the 30 minutes or less drive folks.

That is a strange quote from his coach. Most of the time you see "coach quotes" about former players talking about what a hard worker a guy is, or skills, or smarts.

You need to learn some of the history of the double-headed eagle. Your perspective is a couple thousand years too short. http://en.wikipedia....le-headed_eagle

Firebrand still works now, as I'm hoping the fascist-minded Mr. Brand is, shall we say, deeply involved with fire. PS - I can't claim the concept as my own.
-
This possible nickname is what should've happened when Myles Brand came up with this "catalyst for social change" agenda at the NCAA. It should've happened: Fire Brand. And there's the new moniker to "toss the bird" to the NCAA: Firebrand. fireĀ·brand 1. a person who kindles strife or encourages unrest; an agitator; troublemaker. 2. a burning stick carried by somebody as a torch or a weapon

The women already had one jersey that is NCAA post-season approved. It is green and has a script "North Dakota" on the front and the shoulders have patches like my avatar.

Hey, can you cover more than one Tebow square on the Tebow bingo card per play? Most of his wobbly passes are due to poor mechanics so that'd get you two squares on one play.
-
Jesus plays hockey, but he plays goaltender: JESUS SAVES!
-
Unfortunately for the rest of the league Tim Tebow is following the Al Davis mantra.

What now are my options to express my deep, inherent racism?

Hey, new option: You can Tweet for Lehigh. -
Please put context into Vandrovec's numbers. What is that number? All sports? One sport? Which? And it says "revenues", that's normally "gross". Did he mean "net" or "profit"? $981k at $20 per ticket is about 49000 tickets.

RD17, can I take your statement: and think out loud, namely, "Could this be why there's some noise about scrapping the non-1-versus-2 BCS games in favor of going back to more negotiated bowl-team provider agreements with the conferences?" If there are more BCS teams, there are more BCS mouths to feed at the bowl trough, and we know the biggest of the bigs (B1G, SEC, Pac) don't want to risk having to share any portion of "their money" with any lesser schools. If the Pac and the B1G can lock up the Rose Bowl (money) without risk of an interloper (like Boise) qualifying for it, why wouldn't they?
-
That was all already spelled out in the settlement agreement.

Wearing a non-obscene picture of a human is one thing. Denegrating an entire race (because it's no longer a team) is an entirely different matter. (These are the minutial gradations academics love remember.)
-
Ah yes, but what if the other team (Sioux) is no longer the other team? Then when you use the term Sioux you aren't referring to the other team, so you must be referring to the other meaning, namely SL and SR. And that's precisely what the NCAA does not want.
-
If UND no longer has a moniker, if NDSU fans use that term they must be referring to people from SL and SR. Personally I hope NDSU fans chant their favorite chant. Then I'll be contacting the NCAA and demanding that they enforce their nice little blurb read before games about " ... racist taunts ... not being acceptable ... and ground for removal ..." Heck, maybe I should give the NCAA a little heads-up now considering there's an NCAA playoff game (not involving UND even) where it'll probably be heard this weekend. Wouldn't that be a hoot.
-
With the NCAA you are precisely correct.

Call me cynical, but I don't believe the Alabama legislature will save UAH hockey, not while their beloved Tide is second to anyone in football (See: Les Miles' LSU Purple Kitties). UAH and UAB will always be poor step-children to Tuscaloosa. I expect to see Saunders here next year, along with Dell and Gothberg. (Maris is listed a junior, and he is eligibility-wise, but I believe he attended UND for a year before joining the hockey team and is probably on pace to graduate.) And yes, Saunders would be immediately eligibile after a transfer from a folding program. If he were to transfer otherwise he'd have to sit out a year and his five-year eligibility clock would run during the year. (You have five calendar years to complete four years of athletic competition.)

I've heard that Fargo wants it on the ND side (think: control) because the majority of local funds will come from Fargo sales taxes.

I'm up for a brown Christmas (especially if it means fewer spring sandbags). Anchorage is on the Pacific (with the current flow coming from the equator). Fairbanks is the center of the state. Sort of the same difference there as between Houston and Grand Forks.

The author assumes a great deal about others in: This person is nudging right up to advocating re-education all in the way that she believes the world should be (instead of allowing people to experience it as it is). Note to all, especially that author: Orwell's "1984" and "Animal Farm" are not "how to manuals" but instead grave warnings about group-think and totalitarianism.
