  1. Got RealPlayer? Listen to the NDSC today at 3 pm: http://www.ndcourts....rt/webcasts.htm
  2. Tech could easily have 4 or 5 instead of a tied game.
  3. The word or the logo can not appear with UND in any form at an NCAA event. Not the team. Not the coaches. Not the administrative travel party. Not even the official school band travel party. That's the NCAA policy. Plus, don't forget the penalty: Game forfeit. (Predatory, defined.) And as I noted earlier this year, just try to find the word or logo on the mask of Dell, Eidsness, or Maris. (Hint: You won't. That right there is a statement from the hockey coaches and administration about what they knew was the NCAA's willingness to relent on this issue at any point.)
  4. I stated this same thought a couple weeks ago. If it was just UND deciding to suffer a fate only UND should suffer consequences. But if the whole state decides but only one would suffer, that's not right, so ... If the whole state votes for such an amendment, the whole state should suffer the fate. Call it "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." And yes, the precedent exists within the NCAA as state laws in MS and SC trigger sanctions against the entirety of those states.
  5. Reality check time folks: Jim Dahl and PlayoffStatus.com both show UND with a better than 99% chance of being in the NCAA tournament next week. So, where's the new gear? And I say gear because it's not just jerseys. The helmets say "Sioux" on the front and have the logo on the sides. The breezers have the logo on the left leg at the cuff. And the undergear has the logo. UND can't show up with the word or logo anywhere. Where's the new gear? Not debuting it until stepping onto the ice in a week would be a mammoth distraction.
  6. No, lately, unfortunately, that's irrational optimism.
  7. His basis is that he's sitting with his fingers crossed, his legs crossed, his arms crossed over his chest, his eyes squeezed shut tight, bobbing forward and back slightly, and murmuring, " ... they gotta win, SL has gotta win, oh please-please-please ... " That'll carry a lot of weight in Federal court.
  8. SL is Butler in the 2010 and 2011 NCAA MBB tournament: They might go on a nice little run and have some satisfying battle wins along the way; but in the end, the empire (UConn, Duke, ... the NCAA) always comes out on top.
  9. Leave your girlfriend out of this.
  10. They should've challenged the original law instead of going along merrily.
  11. Honestly, given that response to a shoe, I'm not sure how some won't be coming after this:
  12. The Fargo Forum's editorial board takes a nice swipe at Carlson' Folly. " ... because of the obtuseness of a legislative majority led by House Majority Leader Al Carlson, R-Fargo, whose conduct in the logo debate ought to disqualify him from leadership, and likely even from re-election to the North Dakota House. Arguably, he is single-handedly responsible for leading his lemming-like caucus into a miasma of litigation and recrimination that has put the university at risk ... " And they sum up Thursday pretty well: "The court has to cut through all the tangential currents swirling around the logo. The core of the issue is whether the constitutionally mandated higher ed board has the power to do what the state constitution says the board is supposed to do. The question is whether a legislative leader who seems quite willing to undermine the state constitution will be granted more power to pursue a campaign to politicize and micromanage the state’s colleges and universities." http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id/354035/group/Opinion/
  13. I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to Hak and his charges.
  14. Folks, ... so obvious ... Thu: UND being the better seed is the home team --> white Fri: UND will be the lower seed and it'll be all business, so you wear the business suits --> black Sat: UND will be the lower seed again (most likely), and it's St. Patrick's Day --> green This has been your UND Hockey fashion consulting minute.
  15. Before, or after? http://www.pantagrap...f22e8a12c4.html http://lutchknows.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/warner.jpg
  16. I'd just like to have enough healthy bodies to put 18 skaters onto the ice.
  17. Yes, we're the fulcrum to the end game. But no one is coming to our aid so they'll all (CMU, Utah, FSU) have their own issues later. The Minnesota/WIsconsin/Iowa PC mindset rules the NCAA and that's not going to change. I'd love it to. But it's not going to happen.
  18. The NCAA voting body is university presidents. You really think that group, politically as politically correct as they come, will give ground on this issue? Not. Gonna. Happen. (Not without a court order.) Honestlly, after they finish off North Dakota I seriously believe they'll be looping back one more time for CMU, then Utah, then the crown jewel: FSU.
  19. And me without a pitchfork or a torch.
  20. FYP. I remember that because I heard someone once refer to those who followed Saigo's path as "Saigo-paths" and Leigh Jeanotte's followers as "Jeanotte-heads".
  21. My gut says the guy will drag this out until summer. Let's enjoy this weekend and hope there's at least one more after.
  22. An alien? If he's an alien he's about to do an "abduction" on this guy. To me he looks more like an amateur, free-lance plastic surgeon about to perform a "procedure" on a "patient" name Turgeon.
  23. YAHTZEE!
  24. And tournaments can change policy, can't they?
  25. Nelson's a natural center and wants to play center. He may have power forward height, but he doesn't have the power forward body (yet). If his goal for the NHL is to play center he needs to stay another year in college and center a top line and learn the defensive responsibilities of the role. If it's to play power forward, he needs to keep adding mass to that frame.
