  1. You have to give some blame to the NCAA for getting involved in internal matters of their members. (I thought they preached internal institutional control.) Either way, I wonder what the NCAA would think about the concept of expanding sanctions to the whole of the state if the whole of the state voted for the moniker? I think I'll write the NCAA a letter asking them to expand the sanctions to the whole state if the whole state votes for the moniker ... oh, wait, ... here's the "fax sent and received" report already ...
  2. Simple questions: How many people will vote 'yes' just to screw over UND? How many people will vote 'no' to finally put a wooden stake into the heart of this vampire?
  3. Exactly. That's why I keep a roster and a list of recruits with expected arrival years. When I saw two goalies (Saunders and Gothberg) for this fall I figured Eidsness and Maris (and hoped it wouldn't be Dell leaving). Instead, it's Eids and presumably Dell but UND still has experience in net (Saunders). Hakstol knows how to manage a roster (when guys don't welch out on commitments at the last minute ... I'm looking at you JT Miller ).
  4. Tribal politics: Making North Korea seem modern and well-run.
  5. Why not the mythical being the Hydra? You remember the Hydra: Chop off its head and two more grow back. (Seems like the moniker fiasco over the last however many years.)
  6. We've gone from Freudian slips to delusions of grandeur.
  7. The NCAA membership voted to give their executive committee power to make bylaws like the moniker policy so yes they as a private organization have the power to do it to members.
  8. OK Chewey, I'll take the bait. April 19 must be the next big date in SL v. NCAA. So what do you believe the federal court is going to do? Injunction against the NCAA? I'm pretty sure SL will be lucky to still have an open case on April 20.
  9. No Dave, you called for violence (real or figurative) to get your way, to let out your anger and frustrations. It's called a Freudian slip.
  10. A vote in Sioux County does not matter. The NCAA wants a statement from tribal government.
  11. Did a guy who says "no fighting in hockey" just say "punch them in the mouth"?
  12. " ... nattering nabobs of negativism ... " -- Spiro Agnew, former Vice-President of the United States Spiro had some beauties ... " ... nattering nabobs of negativism ... " " ... pusillanimous pussyfooters ... " " ... hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history ... " And a well before it's time description of the NCAA today: " ... an effete corps of impudent snobs who characterize themselves as intellectuals ... "
  13. Ace? Maybe a deuce of clubs at best. And I always thought it was Nattering Cashmongers of Amateur Athletics.
  14. I just realized the happiest guy in ND today: Reed Soderstrom. If the court would have ruled in the SBoHE's favor, any chance of success in the case where he represents SL v. the NCAA would have been gone.
  15. The Board's case confused the issue by addressing the vote and the Sec State at all. The only issue they should've brought was this --> Is Carlson's Folly constitutional?
  16. Dear Carter, You know that nice spurt you had in January through mid-February? You need to have one like that that starts on October 1 and end on April 15. Do that and you'll be very happy you came back ... and so will we. UND fans
  17. Added to your post. Personally, I think the NCAA wants everyone to become a bland lettermark and a color. See: Stanford, Harvard, Syracuse. Dartmouth. I'll pass on that.
  18. Nothing. Just a reminder to us all.
  19. Games are on Thursday. And as Brad Schlossman said (paraphrase) 'JV game at 4; varsity at 7'.
  20. Nope. Won't. Just a friendly reminder about "anonymity on the interwebs".
  21. Time for today's non sequitor factoid: Did you know that moderators and administrators on this forum can see the IP address that a post comes from?
  22. Official word ... http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/233464/
  23. I wish they'd break the 'omerta' now that we've seen the white jersey and put images of all three online.
  24. I've seen a lot of possible names here. One missing? UND alumnus Jason Herter (currently at UMD, formerly head coach of the Fargo Force).
