  1. Hanson graduated from North Carolina with a year of FB eligibility left. Because he had his degree he doesn't have to sit out a year after transferring. He's enrolled in a Masters program in the School of Business.
  2. I see you and ScottM agree on at least this much.
  3. Random? I sat next to a Devils scout for a couple games at the same tournament. Heck of nice Stanley Cup Champions ring he had. Interesting to see and hear what those guys look for.
  4. The flip side here is St. Clair. He committed very young, and even had to sit a year at UND, but is still there.
  5. Fowler was a standout at the U-18s in Fargo back in 2009. Whatever "it" is you could see he had "it".
  6. Koules not making the U-18 team that just recently won gold was foreshadowing of some sort.
  7. Never believe who is leaving, or coming in, until you see them on the ice. And for the record, you normally have six guys in the stands (a "fifth" line, a "fourth" pair of D, and the third goalie).
  8. Any truth to the rumor that the writers of that film are running for the Minnesota legislature?
  9. I'm sure they talked. And Frattin probably said he stayed for a senior year and is still up and down.
  10. Once upon a time there was no need for a distinction (because all sports fans realized it's a game and not worth rioting or showing what sort of baffoon you are inside).
  11. ... in the Olympic style game.
  12. Observations: 1. The front office in Montreal is a mess right now. 2. Kristo's 2010-11 roommate was considered the most "NHL-ready" forward coming out of college and he's a Toronto ... Marlie. I'm sure they talked. 3. I'm sure Coach Hakstol and Kristo had a long, "are you 100% in?" chat before this was put out there.
  13. I know this is crazy-talk, but could we actually have a checking line and three legitimate scoring lines next season?
  14. Four games does not a sophomore make. He'll have some head-slapper* defensive lapses before January. Alternatively, if Parks or MacMillan were to make the same lapse next year they'd be risking playing time (because they've been through 40 games to learn). *That's when the player does something that makes everyone else in REA apply a palm to the forehead.
  15. Guys, dump the politics. (You may assume the implied threat from a moderator.) Forum Terms and Rules refresher course: No politics or religion
  16. All Gophers? Seriously? That won't work. You know why? I'll let Herm answer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W42iiCcFbxE
  17. The number for an ITF has always been $20 million.
  18. 17 forwards ... yeah, one isn't eligible until January, but 17? I suspect a low playing time guy, or a guy who isn't developing may be going elsewhere.
  19. He was so old his name should've been Steve Dehorsepullingstagecoach.
  20. It's nice to be able to pencil in "Kristo" on a line chart for next year. http://undhockey.areavoices.com/?p=91053
  21. OK, I'm a little stunned, but not unhappy. The front office mess in Montreal probably helped UND fans out.
  22. And the law is the law and the NCAA hasn't broken it.
  23. Let's try this one more time: The NCAA is a private organization. The NCAA is not a branch of any level of government. The NCAA is not much different than a private country club. They make the rules for members. Like it or leave (or worse).
  24. Well, now that I have my new job (thanks Goon!) I'm going to assume I only answer to the Commissioner and that the Head of Officials works for me. Knowing that, I'm pulling the second referee off the ice. Yup, off the ice. Instead they'll be sitting in a designated seat in each league rink and they'll be connected wirelessly to the on-ice refereee. The off-ice referee will still call penalties but do it through the on-ice referee (hence the wireless connection). The off-ice referee also be responsible for video reviews. How many times have you sat in your seat and wondered "how'd the on-ice officials miss that?" Well, let's get one referee out to a broader view of the game. We have the technology. Let's use it. I believe my plan will: - open up some ice - speed up video reviews - help ensure the right folks get called during scrums and such - do a better job of keeping track of "behind the play" stuff - work toward a safer, cleaner game I'm The Sicatoka, and I approved this message.
  25. The membership at large voted to give the NCAA Executive Committee the power to set policy on issues like this. The vote was in the same timeframe as the settlement. It served to prevent UND from suing on the basis of "the Exec Comm doesn't have this power". After the vote they do. However, what the membership also did in that same vote is effectively give the Exec Comm the keys to the candy store.
