That should change now that Amy Senser is ... What? Too soon?
-
And that's the angle you play up with "Rough Riders" (that and TR's time in ND). It makes "Military Appreciation Day" more important at UND.

The green jerseys would be an acknowledgement of the agrarian history. Probably a scythe motif. The home white jerseys would be a salute to the local folks (GFAFB and aviation): an MQ-9 motif. The black jerseys? I don't know, maybe something with this theme?

Ames, IA: Iowa State Cyclones, Ames HS Little Cyclones Ft. Collins, CO: Colorado State Rams, Ft. Collins HS Lambkins* So don't say it can't work in Grand Forks, ND. And Rough Riders was put out there by Jesse Taken Alive and Phil Jackson. Thus that side of the aisle regarding the old moniker has given their imprimateur. *a lambkin is a young sheep (Ram or ewe)

I wonder how much live streaming of UND events Midco will be allowed to do or if online will stay with UND Insider. http://www.midcosportsnet.com/schedule/watchonline/

Sweet mother-o'-mercy. AED usage across the upper midwest just spiked. ... Clear!
-
Key words and tricky phrases I see in the release: - cash flow - High Def TV (in year three of the five, meaning the 2014-15 season) - Midco to produce and broadcast (WDAZ had done the production in the past)
-
Not a bad television schedule ... https://www.nmnathletics.com//pdf8/848701.pdf?ATCLID=205498613&SPSID=58715&SPID=6409&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=13500

I just noticed no references to WDAZ/ForumComm in this. In the past, the production work was done by WDAZ. Will Midco be doing their own production? Has UND taken over the production?
-
Supposedly going to HD is part of the deal also. http://forum.siouxsp...480#entry566730 That'd be a good thing to confirm with The Haj also. It makes sense given that REA replaced all the tube TVs with flat screens.
-
That's where I think "Rough Riders" may have the inside lane.

No, because the kool-aid on Bisonville is yellow ... and isn't kool-aid.
-
Schlossman has tweeted that ... The Ralph has replaced all of its TVs in the concourse with flat screens. That's a smart move for them. All those old TVs have to be energy hogs.
-
I thought CableOne was picking up UND games and putting them onto one of their channels. PS - I know West Fargo folks have a choice. WF was CableOne but then they let Midco in for the competition. Pressure the Fargo City Commission to do something similar.
-
Here we agree. That's why I'm saying those of us who care need to start ratcheting up the pressure now. The longer it sits idle the easier it'll be to shove any pap and claptrap at us.

No, it's not. There was this NHL team ... And the University of North Dakota is in North Dakota (apologies to EGF, MN).

I'm the one who first rolled out Reapers. Here're my thoughts then (and now): It's a tip of the cap to both the history and the future of the state. The state's history is agrarain. Those folks built the state by planting and reaping (by hand, then machine). Those folks built the footings for UND. Today, the MQ-9 Reaper is a technological achievement: science, technology, engineering, aviation. And black jerseys could be a whole lotta fun with a reaper motif.

Folks, if the NCAA were true to its own policy, "Norse" wouldn't work either. Why? The NCAA policy states monikers related to "race, ethnicity, or national origin" are subject to the policy. "Norse" won't fly if the NCAA decides to actually enforce their whole policy as written. Want a Norse (and Germanic) theme? Steal from the common Norse-Germanic mythology: Become the Mjolnir (Thor's hammer*). Logo? Done. Alternative name: The (War) Hammer. Of course we'd need approval from this guy's family. *Thor's hammer is powerful enough to level mountains ... explaining the flatness of ND.

As I've said before the state motto of Minnesota is "L'Etoil du Nord" (the Star of the North). Why in world would the University of North Dakota take on that moniker.

Midcontinent's coverage area is a little bigger than KVLY's. From UND's site: http://www.fightingsioux.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205498613&DB_OEM_ID=13500 -

What do people want to see? Tom Miller of the GF Herald just Tweeted: UND and @Midcontinent announce 5-year broadcast partnership. Deal includes 45 live games for next season. -
Now that the Cup Finals are over July 1 (NHL free agency) is just around the corner. I was of the belief that NJD was the front-runner for Parise ... until the draft. Now with PIT sending Jordan Stahl to CAR I see a bunch of money having freed up in PIT. I won't be surprised to see Parise and Suter both end up in PIT in an attempt to get a Stanley Cup.
-
That's why I keep saying if you want to play that angle you have to use something from Norse-Germanic mythology.

OK, so I amend my statement to be ... This passes for "journalism" in today's Forum Communications Company. Does that make it better?
