  1. Nice win Friday. Now the maturity test. The captain gave a nice gift to the General. Hopefully the General, on his birthday, ordered the troops to stand down last night and be ready in force for tonight. I thought I was halucinating: That really was Joe Gleason playing center last night according to Schlossman's article. Defense, wing, center. Heck, get Joe some big pads and a clip board, maybe he can play goal and coach a little too.
  2. Anyone can look at this objectively and see the problem in this dialog and why one side is desperately losing ground: "82" explains, citing official document references, showing precedent (ACC, SEC actions; the NCAA's disregard for Carlson's folly), the issues to estabilish their position in the debate. The other side references an anonymous blog making dubious claims (1996 is "recent"?) and makes animal noises.

  4. I copied what the other guy wrote. I got suckered. Yes, the logo is a trademark.
  5. I like to think of it as "ethnic cleansing" or "racial cleansing".
  6. If a private business is using the five-letter S word there's no limit on that. If they are using the logo, yes, there's a copyright issue.
  7. Doesn't work. First weekend of the season (SD Mines @ UND) has "Bobby Mo" @ NDSU. Why would NDSU buy out "Bobby Mo" to play UND (and risk humiliation in the first game after a title)? NDSU's open dates are now Sep 15 and 22 when UND plays @ San Diego State and @ Sac State. If I'm UND, I don't give either of those dates up for NDSU.
  8. Thanks. I was trying to suppress that memory.
  9. Has to be a mistake in the box score. UND can't hit free throws for any reason.
  10. But having a good, solid kicker sure came in handy in Greeley this year.
  11. Why? Two words: Scheels Arena. That's why I think MSU-Moorhead DI hockey would work if played there.
  12. It's BleacherReport.com. Any questions? Move along; nothing to see here.
  13. And when I read it the first time I thought it was somewhat of a cheap-shot at UND --> couldn't get into some of the schools after him but UND is after him, and mentioned, so he must be able to get in there. I saw that initially as a shot at UND until I read the article in context. I'm probably just hyper-sensitive. Or not.
  14. That drawing was part of a UND long-term facilities plan.
  15. Ya had to bring up volleyball and mens basketball again, didn't ya?
  16. The original renderings looked like this: http://postimage.org/image/4m5ebg7hz/ You are looking southwest from the roof of the "Nut Lab". The near building is the Indoor Training Facility that they are close to breaking ground on. West of that, on the site of old Memorial is a north-south running FB field with a retractable roof (shown open in image). North of both buildings is a soccer field (that is today a parking lot). On the west end of the soccer field is a parking ramp. That ramp isn't built yet as that'd be in the east side of Columbia Road. However, beyond that ramp to the west is the ramp they have built on the west side of Columbia Road. And before you say all this is pie in the sky (OK, it is), why'd they build a bridge over Columbia Road from the current "west" ramp to an empty parking lot? They had to build a tower (with elevator) on the east side of Columbia for the east end of the bridge. You're telling me that will forever be "a bridge to nowhere"? I'd bet against.
  17. It's called a larger, long-term plan. It doesn't mean it will or has to happen. But if the opportunity arose, there's a plan. And do we, does anyone, know what the NCAA will do with football alignments and division going forward? Better to take good care of what you have and have a plan for the future than get caught by surprise. PS - "There's no way UND will ever fill an 11,400 seat hockey rink. They barely fill a 6067 seat rink ... " -- some UND fans circa the year 2000.
  18. Yes, definitely agree. But understand, that's a first step in a larger plan (that there are renderings of out there somewhere).
  19. People are talking 25k to 30k stadium because they're thinking of the 15k average attendance requirement for an FCS team to move to FBS. Make sense now? Six home games, say: G1: 28k <-- you need room for that one G2: 20k G3: 11k G4: 11k G5: 10k G6: 10k Average: 15k
  20. I don't think UND is looking for help from Grand Forks to build something like that. UND would like to be in a facility that they own and would look to their benefactors to make it happen. (GF taxpayers can now exhale. )
  21. That's poorly written. (Sorry Ryan S. Clark of the Fargo Forum.) When I read it here I thought Pool was a teammate and neither would achieve admissions to schools pursuing them. Reading the article, Pool is his assistant coach, and "get into" actually means "name the names of" all the schols that are after Chyzyk.
  22. A stadium on the Memorial site was in some of the original renderings. It looks like the indoor training center renderings don't show it but leave space for it. http://iconarchitects.com/projects/masterplan/indoor-practice-facility.html
  23. Knock down the south wall for seating? Maybe. Knock down the north wall for seating and you take out the Aurora Ballroom and the kitchen facilities for the conference center.
