31-9
Congrats to the Sioux . . . but I'm angry. I think I have to go home to Jersey this coming weekend so I'm gonna miss the games in Boston. Better win both games big and give my Mom a good 60th birthday present.

KSSIOUXFAN
WoW! What depth this team has. Total drubbing of the formerly ranked 3rd team in the nation.
Siouxdonyms
Hak Post Game Comments: We got better as the game went on. We ended up in the 3rd with a little more energy than they did, and that had something to do with the score. I thought we got a little bit better in smaller areas as the game went along. Overall, it's a good win. They play a tight defensive game, and quite hard. It wasn't a 6-0 game. They play hard. Phil did a good job. He did what we expect out of him. Oshie's departure tests our mental strength of what we have in the locker room. Our guys didn't miss a beat. Only being able to role 3 lines hurts, but mentally, I like the way the guys reacted. They killed off the penalty and kept plugging. We still have a ways to go. We didn't think we took good care of the puck in the 2nd, so we wanted to do better in the 3rd, and I thought we did that in the 3rd. OETKB
Thoughts by period: 1st - Mich St. looked very scrappy and energetic. Basically, UND got outplayed, but came away with no goals agaist 2nd - more fun to watch as a Sioux fan. JP made some nice saves, and UND's lines gained a lot of moementum. 3rd - UND dominated. No momentum remained for MSU. Good to see Frattin get his first, as well as Kozek. Overall - This team has a lot of potential. Managing the intangibles over the course of the season is the unkonwn, but the humble, "we want to be the hardest working team in college hockey" approach is the path to success, and UND is well on its way. Go Sioux!
siouxnami
Anyone else notice that Malone hits anything that moves... also Finley made some real nice plays on the p/k.

dagies
Watched the game down at Sensers in Bloomington. Very glad I had a chance to watch this game. A few thoughts: 1. I think the most exciting thing for me tonite was the play of the freshmen forwards. These guys fit in, just like Hakstol had said. Frattin - he seems more than just a scorer. He made some very good plays with the puck as well, and seemed comfortable on the ice. Malone - played physical and appears to be VERY strong. Very impressive shift in the 3rd where he just held off State defenders on the boards and controlled the puck. Like someone said, not afraid to hit anyone. Trupp - showed some nice skill. Found out some things he probably got away with in juniors didn't work at this level, but will likely learn from that. Thing that stood out to me the most was how he was flying around and hitting hard for such a small guy. Also, you can see that desire for the puck. LaPoint - seemed like he needs to catch up to the game at this level, but for the first game of the season not too bad. 2. Hakstol wasn't blowing smoke on VandeVelde. He seems to be much more of a factor than last year. In fact, he looked better than he was at the end of last year. 3. Duncan wasn't totally made by Toews, that was clear tonite. He got a fluky goal, but it was the other stuff he did with and without the puck that showed his skill. 4. Kozek looks like a better player, to me, than last year. Way to go Andrew! Fun game to watch!
yzerman19
Lapoint looked like a freshman. It is very impressive to see the Sioux win like that without Oshie. Nice testament to depth. First impressions of this year's team after two games: It is our year to take the title back to GF. My only beef right now is with lapionte, the rest of the team looked solid. We are both physical and skilled. We will be tough to beat. Unless of course we get jobbed like RPI last night.

dead_rabbit
That's great, but I don't think anyone here were the doubters! Exactly, who was doubting. If anything, I always said (two years ago) that #7 had better moves than #11.
dead_rabbit
Penalty Shot!!!!!!!!!!!! Won't happen because he didn't have a stride on him, but he never had a chance to get a stride! No, it won't, didn't happen because this is the WCHA. If this would have been in the East... Duncan scores on a penalty shot.
