I am with you, let's leave the NCC on top and with a National Championship. I was at the Spring ball game and saw some good things. Does anyone know if they have filled all of the dates on their schedule yet? Dale told me in May they were still looking to fill one game.

Here is the schedule. One early weekday game (Aug. 23), then an open Sep 1 weekend. Dont' know if that's a date they want to fill but there are 10 games on the schedule.

First post on this forum, but a long-time poster on d2football.

Now some of you may take this as negative thinking, but the only way the Sioux win the National Championship is if they get Grand Valley at home. I'm sorry but that team is loaded everywhere (again) as UND appears to be on offence and reloading (as usual) on defence.

GO SIOUX!

I can only speak for myself, but I would certainly give the edge to whoever has home field in that potential matchup. We each have such a distinct home field advantage, that it would certainly provide an edge to whoever had it. If I recall correctly, we're 1-1 on neutral ground, 0-2 at GVSU, and 1-0 at home (with last years loss at GVSU again pushing us off the .500 head-to-head mark).

I think a lot of people view the loss Finnerty as increasing the potential for GVSU losing a game or two in the regular season, creating exactly the conditions you described. All such hope aside, GVSU is #1 in my mind until they lose a game and we have to win our games before we start worrying about the playoffs.

Old saying still holds true, "You have to beat the best to be the best!" If UND is going to be #1, which I think they are capable of, they need to concentrate on the season schedule and handle the playoff card as it is dealt. Obviously home field would be a factor. Both teams would love the challenge no matter who hosts the game. GVSU and UND have a lot of respect for one another. There also happens to be several other teams that are capable of winning out. This is not just a two horse race. Go Sioux!

I think the Sioux can do it, and what a way to leave DII!

I'm with you HockeyMom!

I'll be at next weeks game against Southern Utah. I hope that game is more challenging than the last one. That will make our win a more 'valid' one.

Ever since 2001, the goal of this program is to win the National Championship, not finish 2nd, 3rd, 4th or anything else. I believe that is the goal of the team this year as well. Having the chance to have home field (thanks Judge Janke! ;) ) for the playoffs is always important, and it becomes more important the deeper you go in the playoffs because the teams get better and better. I like what we have this year; an offense with depth at every position, a defense with a lot of young talent that will improve with each game and special teams to complement them both.

It is WAY too early to speculate on playoff matchups. Too many things can happen to all the potential playoff teams to predict who will play where in what round. A lot of people are simply giving the National Championship to the Lakers and assuming everyone else is playing for second place, but I think that every season is different and we should let the season play itself out first. Omaha and South Dakota are our biggest stumbling blocks on the schedule and we had better not overlook either of those teams. I would like nothing more than to get GVSU in the Alerus again and beat them in front of our fans, but if we don't take care of business during the season there won't be much chance of it happening. No wonder Coach Lennon tells his players to keep off of forums like this, there is WAY too much speculation! :glare:

Bottom Line: Home field will be crucial, like it always is.

Good Luck I hope that you folks do acheive that goal & what away to go out on Top. As for myself I'll be in Gainesville this weekend for as the Tim Tebow era begins. So in closing it's as follows.

GO SIOUX & GO GATORS.

Will Tebow be learning the whole playbook this season, or will it be the quarterback draw every down? Never saw anyone stop it last year.

In a game that was shorten by lightening, Tebow had 4 TD passes & ran for one it a 49-3 win over WKU. So far he has learn the playbook again I stress SO FAR we'll have to wait & see when we play the likes of TN & other SEC schools to know.
