AZSIOUX Posted May 12, 2007 Posted May 12, 2007 What are the rules of a player (Toews) who is a draft pick of a team, but doesn't really want to go to that team because they stink? Obviously Toews is doing great at the Worlds. So well, that he would sought after by any and all teams in the NHL. At what point would Chicago lose their rights to him? Stay in school Jonathon, your stock will keep going up with a national championship. hate to break it to you but his stock is at a all time high and has been, chicago holds his rights unless he stays all 4 years and then doesnt sign i believe after a certain date. this has been discussed i think here, i hope to god he wouldnt do that and be like that little bich eli manning in a way. and i dont think it would be smart to stay and risk injury either, they are all insured but that doesnt equal it out when all said and done if injured. i think any team would want him and if it were done over he may have been the top pick but thats for another argument because staal had a pretty good rookie season in pittsburgh. i felt lucky to have him come back for year 2, and if for some miracle reason he stayed to win a NCAA title to go with his closet full of golds he could go down as a friken icon which he is already becoming in canada. TOEWS = GOLD MEDALS Quote

Goon Posted May 12, 2007 Author Posted May 12, 2007 Was listening to Gretzkys on XM-204 in the car on the way home from work and I don't know what it is with Bob McKenzie from TSN but he seems big time cheer leader for Toews. To listen to him talk today on the show its appears to all but a done deal on Toews signing and we basically should except that fact. You can take that two ways as Toews hasn't made up his mind and the Pundants are trying to sway him on a decision. I want to get this over with, whatever the decision is so be it. The only thing I could see is Toews wanting a crack at an NCAA title and another kick at the can with the WJC. Frankly if I was a player with a lot of talent and I see Chicago owned by Bill Wirtz I would look at it as Chicago as being a professional pergatory. Chicago a once proud hockey franchise has been run into the ground. It's almost like Canada is starving for another star and have annointed Toews as the next one. Toews Impresses Bob McKenzie on Toews There were a few eyebrows raised when Team Canada chose Chicago Blackhawks prospect Jonathan Toews for its World Championship squad. But the way this young player has performed in the tournament shouldn't be a surprise. The first time I saw Jonathan Toews in action was at Hockey Canada's summer evaluation camp in preparation for the 2006 World Junior Hockey Championship in Vancouver. I was blown away by how he played in those scrimmages. I thought that Jonathan Toews was Bryan Trottier. Everything that Toews has done since then has led me to believe that this is a very good comparison. He is a complete hockey player when you factor in his offensive and defensive play, pressure and physical play. He is the complete and total package. Off the ice, he is fluently bi-lingual, and has the character to be a great star. Ten years from now, we'll still be talking about him - as the NHL's most complete player.. Quote
tnt Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 I hardly think that Canada is starving for another star when Crosby is probably the best player going, or will be shortly. Quote
AZSIOUX Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 the nest one?? ummm, sorry, sid the kid is for sure the next one, toews can be his sidekick partner in winning golds for many years Was listening to Gretzkys on XM-204 in the car on the way home from work and I don't know what it is with Bob McKenzie from TSN but he seems big time cheer leader for Toews. UND85 Posted May 13, 2007 Posted May 13, 2007 He Will Stay. (If I'm wrong I will buy a round for everyone that reads this and is payable at the first home game I attend at the Ralph for next season.) I knew in my heart that the others would stay too, and I think these guys have a lot of Sioux Pride. I think that they want to return to the Ralph some day as alumni and look up in the rafters and see the Title that they won. I have read in the past years of the regrets that many pro athletes have for going pro early. Everyone talks about the money they could be earning, but if you have watched TV lately and see all of these celebrities who are so unhappy with their lives and they have tons of money. It's not everything it's cracked up to be to have lots of money. Also... there is no Red Pepper in Chicago #9 Quote

So there are now 3 active threads about JT.... So I'm just gunna keep posting to the one with the most posts lol Yes the players do read these boards from time to time, along with their families and friends and girlfriends, etc..... But I'm pretty sure none of the players actually post (except for Prpich, who started his little "thanks" thread last year) Quote
