This puts Duluth at the 5th seed and Denver 6th.  Would UND then end up in Colorado as the 2 possibly?

I think Denver is enough of draw for Loveland, so I don’t think they’d stack another high drawing school with them, especially considering the two eastern regionals will probably be kinda dead. UND to Sioux makes the most sense on multiple levels.

I don’t see a scenario where they would cram 4 college games into a single site in 1 day.  Only way it works would be 2 games a day.

No, in my scenario, one of pods would play their semifinals (2 games) on Thursday, and the other pod would play their semifinals (games) on Friday.  Then the regional finals would be on Saturday (1 game) and Sunday (1 game).

I just ran a this scenario:

Winners:

Mankato over St. Thomas.

Dartmouth, Cornell, Cornell wins

Umass, Uconn, Uconn wins

Michigan over Ohio State

Duluth over Denver

Bentley wins

This puts Duluth at the 5th seed and Denver 6th.  Would UND then end up in Colorado as the 2 possibly?

Why would they get shipped to CO in this scenario?  Natural seeding still goes 2 UND v 15 UMass and 7 Cornell v 10 Penn State

It was such an over reaction to 1 game.  If it was the 1st round I would say finish off your opponent in less time so you’re not exhausted the next day.

what will they do if the 1st game of the day at a regional goes 5 OTs?

I agree it was an overreaction

Wodon made a good point, how the committee should avoid matchups in the second round like Denver/Western Michigan. They've played each other 5 times put them in opposite regionals, no need to see them play a 6th time before the Frozen Four.

I’ve always been against playing conference foes before frozen four. Think of how many wins the UND women’s team could have gotten in the ncaas if they didn’t have to play number one ranked Minnesota each time

The woman's NCAA Tournament is only 12 teams, and they do everything to keep 4 WCHA teams making the Frozen Four.

If Denver is the 6, they could flop 6 and 7 and keep Cornell out east while Denver has to play in Loveland.  Honestly the whole bracket could be the same minus Sparty being in place of UND in Worcester.  If Duluth sneaks in at 5, and Denver 6, the committee is going to have to get a bit creative.

I think that would absolutely nuke Sioux Falls attendance, so it would make sense to keep UND in Sioux Falls against likely Minnesota State right away as I can't imagine the NCAA flying three east coast schools to Sioux Falls.

Ran another scenario.

This scenario would mean St. Thomas in Sioux Falls, and likely the winner of Duluth and Penn State if they beat St. Thomas?

Ohh what the heck, if this happened:

Albany:

1. Michigan vs. 16. Clarkson

8. Penn State vs 9. Cornell

Sioux Falls

2. UND vs 15. Bentley

7. Providence vs. 10. The Q

Worcester

3. Sparty vs. 13. St. Thomas

5. Duluth vs. 12. UCONN

Loveland

4. Western vs. 14. Ohio State

6. Denver vs. 11. Dartmouth

Remember Ohio State can play Michigan or Michigan State in the first round

Do you mean can't play Michigan or Michigan State or is there some kind of between the lines bylaw that I'm missing out on?

That would be a really well attended Albany regional. Also, if I'm Michigan I wouldn't want any part of a team like Clarkson that will also happen to have heavy fan support

My not so hot take. Unless it's to avoid inter-conference 1st round matchups, they won't be moving teams for any other reason.

Locked. Michigan in Albany as the #1 overall and UND in Sioux Falls as #2 overall. If Denver ends up #5 overall, then Western to Loveland, if they are #6 than Michigan State to Loveland.

That late, wow, normally it’s in the AM that they release the brackets. Thanks for the information

Gives the committee all day to hmmm and hah and make stupid decisions. Namely how to screw the NCHC and advantage the Big Ten and eastern schools.

This is far too logical. But let's hope it happens this way. Would be a good prelude to top 4 seeds hosting regionals in 2027. Let logic prevail!

Just read the Herald article. Nothing but movement away from the 1 v 16, 2 v 15 type of bracket. What’s the purpose of the NPI if it’s not going to be used.

Get frustrated with regionality. If it lines up, then fine, but moving teams around so you play a team for potentially 6th time is annoying.
