DMT
Mike Lee, the goalie from Roseau took an unofficial visit here yesterday. I don't think so. I play hockey with someone close to Mike Lee. I don't know if the Sioux have "recruited" him (I know they can't), but he goes to Sioux hockey camps. He was showed the GF area by (I believe) Finley last summer. Good to hear. Sioux #805
Per Brad's Blog Sioux land Danny Mattson Academy of Holy Angels forward Danny Mattson has committed to UND for 2009, his coach said today. Mattson scored 19 goals and added 49 assists for 68 points in 28 games as a sophomore last season for the 26-1-1 Stars. He was recently on the U.S. Under-18 team that participated in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial tournament. "He's got the kind of skills that you are born with -- you can't learn them," Holy Angels coach Greg Trebil said. "He puts up a lot of points. He's a good hockey player, a good ol' fashioned hard worker and he combines that with a lot of skill." Mattson also had offers from Minnesota and Wisconsin. Stay tuned, there will be much more on Mattson later. This is a great Pick up for the future recruiting classes.

Goon
The spin control from the Gopher faithful will be very entertaining! It will go like this: The Gophers weren't interested in him. We have enough recruits for that season. Not cut out for the Gopher program.
jk
Three 09 forwards, all from the Metro. Interesting. There's not much room left for forwards until 2010 now.

And Fienhage and Gleason at D, very interesting indeed. Breaking through at Holy Angels seems like a big deal in my book.

USA Hockey
Great pickup As great as it is to see us get these kids, not all of them have been recruiting wars with the Gophers. Mattson was the only one offered by the Gophers, Fink probably wouldn't have been per he waited, and Gleason and Fienhage were not. Kristo wasn't because growing up a Sioux fan he never really considered anywhere else.

siouxnami
Three 09 forwards, all from the Metro. Interesting. There's not much room left for forwards until 2010 now. I think at a minimum, we will get 2 more forwards for 09, but to be sure we are far more in need of defensmen. I think part of the reason we have 3 from the metro is that the 09s are particularly strong in the metro. We take the best from anywhere, we are not woogish... I think that the Sioux are clearly interested in Budish and Hanowski, Walters may have had a visit, and Landman is in our back yard. I think it is very possible that one or 2 of our 09s could come in 10, if others commit, thought these guys are so talented it is hard to see. Derek Lee is interesting as he would be a great pickup for 09 as well. Among those player the Sioux could very well round out the forwards. Defense is another question though. Nick Matson (no relation) would be a HUGE pickup for 09 or 10. That said there is probably room for 2 or 3 more defensmen, so I would expect to see that soon. Finally, I am not going to update the list I have been keeping here, but rather moved it over to the wiki. I will pop in information and rumors as I learn of them.
