Schloss had stated in a podcast a couple of months ago that Wyatt had some interest in UND and even toured, but flipping Brooks from Michigan State is what made it difficult.

Maybe Wyatt still goes to Minnesota if Brooks is not a factor. There was interest for at least Wyatt to come to North Dakota.

We must have been replying at the same time so UND did obviously put forth an effort to get Wyatt.

Didn’t know where to put this. But Lincoln Kuehne’s right were traded a few days ago in the USHL. I noticed he’s barely playing at ASU and basically should be a senior in HS by birthdate. Could be on the move.

Thought it was funny that they paired him a Boser to start the Friday game against CC after the trade happened

Oscar Hemming looking to go NCAA if he can't play for Kitchener

Is he looking to get eligible by the second semester?  What does joining mid season do to team chemistry?  BU and BC probably don’t care and will fit him in regardless.

Sounds like Hockey East school possibly?
Can't be BC, because they opted in to the House agreement so are locked into their existing 26 players.
BU didn't opt-in though so could be them.
Although probably the last thing BU needs is to get even younger this year....

BC opted in to the House agreement so couldn't be them, as they are stuck with their existing 26 players.

Sounds like BU wasn't allowed to opt in by their conference.

UND opted in and carries 27 players. I know players on the roster prior to opting on are grandfathered in. The roster limit confuses me but I know there at least was a way around it when UND picked up Engel.

Had to do it before the season started. Also sounds like he told Espoo the was going to play there signed a contract but changed his mind

Think it’s likely that Dalton Andrew is our designated “cut” player. I wouldn’t be surprised if BC has at least one player designated. Not sure if they were already at 26 at the time when they were going after Carboneau?

I know Michigan has 1 roster slot left open as well according to Naurato on the CHN pod the other week

Minnesota has a roster slot available as well. That could have been the case with BC and Carbonneau.

Regarding Andrew, UND will lose 4 senior forwards and probably a transfer or two. I doubt they cut him unless they feel like he would be a massive liability out there. It’s tough to find guys that are okay with sitting in the stands.

But they also have Pilgrim, B.Schultz, Simpson, A. Shultz, Williams, and ONeill in the pipeline, and who knows if they have another CHL guy or two in the back of their minds.  If you push off any of the players, are they going to find a new home? I am assuming Carter Sanderson will play another year of juniors.

I think a lot of UND fans will be surprised about how good Andrew is.. we are just so deep. He has a game scheduled against Mercyhurst coming up :)

This is why I have been a little critical of the Brock Schultz commitment. In order for him to make it to campus next year, they’ll have to push back a player that has been more productive. I’m sure the decision will be a lot easier once they know how many players are actually gone.

UND will definitely be after a CHL defenseman this spring. Hopefully they are able to have the flexibility to add a forward as well.

Most years, I'd agree, but off this year's team, who? Outside of the Seniors, Reschny is the only potential early signee (imo). It would say it's rare for FR to leave because of playing time, but really, with Zakreski's injury, everyone is playing (outside of Young (SR) and Andrew (15th F). There's only real one guy who's a risk to transfer. In regard to Schultz, the only logical scenario is Andrew transfers and Schultz becomes 15th F.

Ideally, you have 1F, 1D spot open going into the off-season for CHL or transfer portal type of guy.

I agree.

I would be a little surprised if UND lost a forward other than Andrew to the portal. I would be even more surprised if they brought in a transfer forward to replace one of the openings unless the guy is high end.

The number of freshman coming in next year up front will likely be 5. I wouldn’t mind pushing a couple of guys back to 27/28, even if you risk losing them.

Who are the players that age out and can't play another year of Junior? Schultz X2, and Pilgram? So those 3 have to come in and assuming Simpson comes for sure and I would think Williams there's 5 leaving little to no room for a high-end CHL guy (Preston or someone of the like). And this pushes McKamey back for another year so does he not want to wait. Could be interesting decisions with forwards especially now that Pilgram has really started to pick it up. With the CHL opening up, the theme seems to be most of the top dog schools leave 1 or 2 roster spots open much later than previously.

Don't both Pilgrim and A. Schultz have another year of eligibility? i believe you have to be 20 or under as of December 31. Ashton will turn 20 next October and Pilgrim won't turn 21 until February. Not saying they'll want to defer them as both are looking like they'll be ready, but I think they do have the option.
