nascar99 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Really interested to see if Bill Zonnon goes NCAA. I know he flirted with that coming out of minor hockey before he chose to go major junior in the Q. Zonnon would be a great identity player who can produce at a place like Boston University or Boston College. Wonder if Penn State tries to throw a bag at him since he's been drafted by one of the teams in their backyard. Wonder if Penn State tries to throw the bag even more at Flyers 1st rounder Porter Martone. Quote

Lower costs for the CHL since the player pool can get much of their education covered. Quote
nascar99 Posted Saturday at 05:56 PM Posted Saturday at 05:56 PM My Blackhawks selected Nathan Behm of the Kamloops Blazers in the Dub. Would love for Davidson to steer him to the NCAA, and more specifically, to North Dakota. Might need another year of junior and then come in in 2026-27, but he'd be a nice option. Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted Saturday at 06:47 PM Posted Saturday at 06:47 PM Owen Martin of Winnipeg drafted in the 3rd round. Currently in Spokanistan, worth looking at for next year. 1 Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted Saturday at 08:34 PM Posted Saturday at 08:34 PM Alex Weirmaier is a surprising pick. Bailed on Denver early in the year and was never on the top line in Portland. It's far from certain he has a spot there next year as an overager. I think it's only one per team? Quote

nascar99 Posted Saturday at 10:05 PM Posted Saturday at 10:05 PM Now we await what NHL teams advise their unsigned, uncommitted CHLers to do. A lot of longer term projects with size drafted today, all of em could use time in the NCAA. Quote

His team was good and with cristall and catton there he probably didn’t get any pp1 looks…but judging by his production I would say another year in the dub would serve him well. I’d be fine with hone committing for 26-27 though. 1 Quote

I have 100% confidence in Chyzyk and Jackson that they have 15 different scenarios entered into an Excel/Google Sheets document that will help to stagger recruiting classes in terms of bringing guys in and make the rosters balanced going forward. Guessing they have 10-20 targets right now, many or most of which they've made a competitive offer for 2025-26 or at worst, 2026-27. 1 Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted Sunday at 07:22 PM Posted Sunday at 07:22 PM Nice blurb about Brady Martin spending draft day on the farm. Get him on campus for a tractor ride down University. https://www.nhl.com/news/top-10-moments-from-2025-nhl-draft 1 Quote

Looks like he's from dairy country though, so maybe oyster hors d'oeuvres wouldn't work for him. 1 Quote

nascar99 Posted Monday at 10:54 AM Posted Monday at 10:54 AM Look for Nesbitt to sign his ELC and come off the prospective recruiting board unless Briere & Jones really want him in the NCAA (at some point). Quote
nascar99 Posted Monday at 02:06 PM Posted Monday at 02:06 PM Really interested to see who is recruiting Blake Vanek. Obviously Ottawa reached on him in the 3rd round, purely based on his size, but he was decent in a limited USHL sample to end the season after being very good at Stillwater HS. Would make sense for him to go to Minnesota (if Motzko is recruiting him of course lol) but would completely understand if he wants to forge his own path and not have the pressure of having to live up to the expectations that would be put on him because of Thomas' career there. I'm going to guess Wisconsin will be in on him, Western Michigan too since Ferschweiler is recruiting Minnesotans very well as of late. Quote
atxsioux Posted Monday at 02:24 PM Posted Monday at 02:24 PM Looks like he's off to Wenatchee for next year which makes sense. 1 year of JRs likely before heading to college. Quote

Yeah he's an August 2007 so he hasn't graduated HS. A full year of junior for Vanek will do him very well, might need 2 years in the Dub. Quote
nascar99 Posted Monday at 05:00 PM Posted Monday at 05:00 PM Anyone hear anything about North Dakota target Dayne Beuker (2008, NTDP)? Pretty nuts that he hasn't committed anywhere yet Quote
