  1. I love the optimism! And it would guarantee another NCAA National Championship! This is gonna be a very fun year of hockey!
  2. He played two seasons for Niagara tallying 1 goal and 7 assists in 32 career games. He did not play last year.
  3. If we were starting from scratch, the teams I would be most excited to see on our non conference schedule would be: 1. Minnesota 2. Wisconsin 3. Michigan 4. Boston College 5. Boston University
  4. According to sportsscolarships.com, of the 60 division 1 men’s hockey teams, the most scholarships used by any one team was 25. Some should keep this in mind when talking about “dead weight” on our team. Those players are often the ones getting zero scholarship money but putting in 30 plus athletic hours in per week in addition to their class work because they love the game and want to compete and do their best for their favorite team. Seems we should be appreciating their contributions rather than disparaging their efforts and suggesting they be run off the team. Just my two cents.
  5. Yes. Sanderson is 2021. He’s another blue chippa.
  6. We have some very highly touted defensemen recruits coming through pipeline right behind Frisch and Bast too. Scheduled to come in 2020 are Tyler Kleven, Mitchell Miller and Luke Reid. That’s a lot of talent to look forward to.
  7. Coach Berry, during a post game interview, I believe it was after the final game of the season, was being asked about next year and the incoming forwards. Part of his response was also mentioning they “may be bringing in a couple defensemen.” Obviously that would be both Bast and Frisch, but who knows what that was dependent upon. Poolman’s decision? Someone else leaving? If they both came in, we’d have 9 defensemen plus Casey Johnson. That’s too many good defensemen sitting out each game.
  8. Oliver Wahlstrom one and done from BC.
  9. Chad Krys signs with Chicago. BU is hemorrhaging.
  10. Joel Farabee signing with Philly after freshman season.
  11. https://www.sbncollegehockey.com/platform/amp/2016/12/2/13821626/gopher-hockey-commitments-mat-robson-penticton-vees According to this article, Robson would have “2.5 to 3.0 years of eligibility” with the gophers. He only used 1.5. So he could have returned for a senior season.
  12. Goofer Rem Pitlick gives up his senior season to sign with Nashville. He was their leading scorer this year.
  13. There are currently 6 forwards scheduled to come in next fall: 1. Shane Pinto 2. Harrison Blaisdell 3. Massimo Rizzo 4. Judd Caulfield 5. Carson Albrecht 6. Murphy Stratton Stratton has to sit out the year but can practice with the team.
  14. Better change “pour” to “poor” before MafiaMan sees it...
  15. Thome hasn’t played since the U18 exhibition in December. He’s out long term which is why we brought in the new goaltender early.
  16. And there’s Matias Mantykivi from Finland to center them. Definitely a tongue twister line!
  17. Watching the World Junior A Challenge right now. Free streaming at HockeyCanada.ca. USA with Pinto, Frisch and Miller leading Canada West with Blaisdell, Rizzo and Bast 2-1 heading into the 3rd period. Pinto, Blaisdell and Rizzo each playing center and all looking very good. Pinto looks better than advertised, plays a strong relentless smart game. Rizzo and Blaisdell are both speedy and flashy. Bast looks solid on defense. Haven’t seen much of Frisch or Miller tonight. Looks like we’ll be scoring a lot more goals next season when they arrive on campus.
  18. Half the fun on here is fifty percent speculation.
  19. That's correct. Hockey scholarships are "shared scholarships." Each team gets 18 full scholarships that they may split up with up to 30 players. Some are on full scholarship while others get a percentage of a scholarship.
  20. For those keeping score at home: 3 senior forwards leaving: Gardner, Jones, Janatuinen 3 incoming forwards to take their spots that have signed NLI's: Rizzo, Caulfield, Pinto 1 incoming forward who sits out next year and does not count against scholarship: Stratton 4 eligible forward recruits who are not ready yet: Randklev, Costello, Mancinelli, Schmaltz 2 highly skilled forward recruits who are ready but need a spot: Donovan, Blaisdell ? forwards who may leave early for the pros: Don't see any as of now. First time in years this has been the case. ? forwards who may transfer out: Don't see any as of now. Usually these are sophomores who leave to find more playing time elsewhere. 1 possible forward roster spot opens if Johnson moves back to defense for next year. Please add any corrections or thoughts you may have. I sure hope we keep Donovan. He's gonna be a good one.
  21. Donovan could very well be taken in the late first or early second round of next summer's draft. No one drafted that early wants to wait a year before college. The problem is we have five great forward recruits ready for next fall and this is the first year in a long time we won't have one or two forwards leaving early. I sure hope we don't lose him, but as has already been discussed, Rizzo, Caulfield, Pinto and Blaisdell next fall plus Halliday and Bowen locked in for the following year makes for a very loaded group of highly skilled scoring forwards coming in soon.
