As someone that lives in Phoenix (for now), one of the main reasons that my family and I are leaving in the next couple years is due to the weather.
I'd take a Grand Forks winter over a Phoenix summer any day.

well, 90% of the students go home for the summer....

With good reason.  Have to escape the hell hole!  :);)
Fall semester starts back up mid-Aug and if ASU is anything like other hockey schools, the team members come back in July to start team workouts.
For these Canadian kids, the temps in July-Sept would be a complete eye-opener from anywhere they've ever lived.

I wonder if UND is one of the 4-5 schools that he's even talking to.
Hopefully Bryn and Jax can at least get him to come in on a visit and then work their magic.

(This is just a vibe) but I have a weird feeling that Michigan might not even be in the list of 4-5 teams. I think there is a little stink on their program currently with Naurato possibly. Just a guess but we’ll see.

I've heard this too

Jackson Smith to PSU is now confirmed.
Seems like it's been in the works for a couple weeks now.

Wonder if Chyzyk/Jackson gave him a serious offer or if this was primarily an NIL driven commitment and Smith was only going to go east of Lake Michigan. Really interested to see how he develops there, thought he would have fit in better at any of North Dakota, Denver, or Michigan.

Feel like our backend is pretty set on the left side for this coming year. Feel like NIL maybe played a role for him to not go to Denver or Michigan though or even BC/BU. Will be interesting to see how his Penn State experience goes.

Something hockey pundits keep mentioning regarding CHLers going the college route is that they may find the grass isn't greener and rejoin their MJ team mid-season. Players seeking the biggest payday seem like the biggest flight risks.

I think that'll only happen if they aren't playing much and/or struggling a ton. Which we already saw in the past, difference was, going to the CHL from the NCAA made them ineligible to return to the NCAA. Now, those guys can go back if they want to, as we're seeing with Noah Powell

Although there's been plenty of buzz on social media about UND being a top contender for McKenna, as of last week, the Fighting Hawks still had not been able to crack that door open.

Michigan State, Penn State and Michigan — all with significant NIL resources and offers — have long been considered the front-runners. Denver also is in the picture. UND would like to be — who wouldn't? — but the Fighting Hawks haven't been in the mix to this point.

For those who have been hoping, Brad definitely poured some cold water on the chance of McKenna even considering UND yet Denver is a possibility.

Once McKenna is confirmed to not be a possibility at all, I would shift completely to Kindel, Schmidt, Cootes, McQueen, Fiddler, Lakovic, Bear, Behm. Would call about guys in the O like Martin, O'Brien, Reid, Nesbitt, Czata, Romano even if unlikely. Would think Q guys like Zonnon & Desnoyers will stay out east if they go NCAA.

Hopefully Bryn has already narrowed down his list from those above players. (for what its worth some prospect pods did mention Schmidt and Lakovic have had some character concerns so they may have already been crossed off the list) Seems like alot of recruits are waiting on being drafted, will chat with their NHL team, then decide to commit to a college so it might be a couple of weeks of waiting.

Brady Martin being a farm kid might be in our favor. We have to be the only hockey school with 2 hundred foot bars sponsored by Betaseed and Dekalb

I feel like he’s been pouring cold water on this for weeks. A lot of fans just aren’t listening. One of my friends asked me a few weeks ago about our chances with McKenna and I said “ as close to 0% as there is” and the comprehension of what I said did not go through at all.

I like Martin too, would be a great fit.

Curious if Roobroeck is an option UND could be working on as well.... He's 10 days short of being 2025 draft eligible so he'd be 18 when he's suiting up for college.

Yeah, I think that one article simply mentioning UND got a lot of people’s hopes up. Is what it is. I’d honestly be just as excited if UND lands any of the players that @nascar99 listed off.
