No doubt he's good.  The hard part in evaluating is that Minnkota is a bubble and 09's don't play 10's (and some 11's) anywhere else.  So it's about seeing the players vs the rest of the top end kids in systems and age group.  That's why US nationals, WSI, Kings of Spring type stuff is so important from a scouting perspective

100% agreed.

I don't think this is in reference to Kashawn Aitcheson (projected top 15 pick) but it could be in reference to Anthony Romani (Canucks), Dalyn Wakely (Oilers), Beau Jelsma (undrafted), Riley Patterson (Canucks, former Michigan State commit), or Brad Gardiner (Stars).

I really did think we’d be in on 1-2 of these higher end CHL guys. Money talks I guess. It’s a bit early…but this is starting to feel like SEC football. And I’m not necessarily talking about the Romani commit (he’s a 6th rounder). But I thought we’d grab some skill out of those leagues.

There’s only so many teams throwing money at these kids for the few spots they have open. Most teams only have room for 2-3 guys, like us. We might not get top 5 picks but we certainly can get high end guys. There’s too many players in my opinion.

In your estimation, how many WHL & OHL forwards who are 3rd round or higher caliber players who will want to play in the NCAA next year? I'm talking guys who are high scorers & difference-makers. Emphasis on 3rd rd or higher WHL/OHL forwards who will be on an NCAA team in 25-26.

I would say 60-70% will be interested. Now how many end up in the NCAA instead of signing their ELC is the question.

Lotta Minnesota guys from the red river valley, or with Regional roots, or current/alumni of Breakaway Academy (Chyzyk) performed extremely well at the big WSI tourney AND/or were drafted pretty high in the WHL draft.  Gotta think Jax and Bryn are piped in there.

About time for another Chyz Bat Signal, I hope.
Wonder if the McMorrow rumors are true when Smaby is announced.

I would like for another CHL commit (preferably a high end guy). Tons of top tier Dub guys that could use some NCAA time before turning pro

They’re not coming to North Dakota. Sorry dude.

If true that really sucks. Cole Reschny, Ben Kindel, Jackson Smith, etc would be fun in Grand Forks

I’ve seen the younger brother play. Big big boy with a rocket. But….Jackson was a far better prospect at the same age. It’s really not even close currently.

Sounds like Tyler could be Shattuck bound like his brother was.

The staff will keep a couple roster spots open until after the NHL draft. Expect some CHL kids to get drafted and their nhl teams will want them to go ncaa instead of another year in Canada. There will be enough of those types of players in the first three rounds that UND will be able to get a couple to fill out the roster.

So you're guaranteeing that we don't get a CHL guy?

UND will still be able to get high end talent. Our high end talent will be guys that are a year or two older than the top ten picks that stay for one year. UND will target guys that will stay for at least 2/3 years and they probably cannot afford the ones that stay for less.

Where is there room for Perron?

Half of Michigan's 2024-25 roster left in the portal/graduation/turn pro. They aren't bringing in all of their USHL recruits, they have plenty of space for high end CHLers.
