WMU plays BC tonight. BC at #15 and WMU at #11 in NPI. Pretty big game for BC to be playing without at least 3 guys at the World Juniors. Not sure if they have any at the Spengler Cup. If this Spengler Cup is going to continue to be played the same time as World Juniors, I don’t know why any team that has high end players would schedule any games other than exhibitions until after the World Juniors end. The whole goal is to make the NCAA tournament, and all that can be blown up by a couple bad losses. We might even have it worse, because we are playing a bad team with much more to lose. Either that, or the NCAA has to come up with a formula to be able to exclude your worst games, but that doesn’t make a lot of sense. I think Dane and company should only schedule exhibitions against Augustana, Bemidji State or the like to get ready for the second half, and maybe not play them during the season. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted Sunday at 11:44 PM Posted Sunday at 11:44 PM I thought NPI had some built in reliefs for bad losses. Quote

In that case, BC has more to lose playing Western shorthanded because they are fairly close in NPI. How many bad losses do you get? Clarkson must be our bad loss so far. Let’s keep it that way. In the NCHC, if you schedule tough non conference, you don’t get as much of a chance to take advantage of the relief. Quote

brianvf Posted yesterday at 04:24 AM Posted yesterday at 04:24 AM Western vs #2 UW should be an interesting matchup tomorrow. WMU moved into the top 10 NPI with their win over BC tonight. Quote

.357 Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Saw an "*" by Michigan St. & Michigan in the NPI listings. They're the only 2 teams thus far that have used this grace feature. It means: *Team's NPI has been adjusted to remove negative effect from defeating weak opponent. Quote
