His Majesty's stats through 3 games: 1G, 4A, 5PTS, -4, 12 SOG.

All it's going to take is for him to get steamrolled by a 6'2", 210 lb player at center ice to make him wish he had stayed in Medicine Hat. He's great for college hockey, but not sure about his durability over the long haul.

I remember Pandolfo saying at a press conference a couple years ago (a week after they played UND in Boston) that Celebrini would be sitting out the weekend because he was banged up after playing UND the week before. And Celebrini is more stocky than McKenna. No doubt the scouting report on him is to be physical.

I haven't read it yet but if that is true that is a fireball offense.   They are getting out shot badly and have a really tough schedule, it may be a rough year for them

I also wonder if there is real external/internal pressure to keep the Gophers roster as Minnesotan as possible. Would guess there isn't a quota (they've added more non Minnesotans over the past 5 years, especially in net), but with what you know, read, & hear from Gophers fans, they're not exactly welcoming to Canadians.

I think they are stuck between a rock and  a hard place with recruiting. They definitely have pressure to keep recruiting local but they do not have the money to land all of the top guys.

With the CHL opening up, they cannot afford to lose a Fitzhenry or Schneider to other schools but they may not have the resources steer them away from other programs. 
 

Other teams are getting better by dipping into the CHL and they are being left behind. It has been obvious through their first three games.

The Gofs always prided themselves on being "America's Team" back in the day, so it wouldn't surprise me if that mindset is still prevalent over at Mary-oochie.

If I was a CHL player, I wouldn't want to play for a team that for so many years had put off an "anti-Canadian" mindset and attitude.

We knew they had to replace their top 5 scorers, so I think it is pretty early to form conclusions yet.  If UND splits or heaven forbid swept by Minnesota, did UND go down the wrong route?

Lmao, more like "Minnesota's Team". Basically no hockey fan in the States without direct/indirect ties to the University of Minnesota or the state of Minnesota roots for the Goofers. That's what happens when you're insular and only focus on making your program about your state & its players

That’s definitely a possibility, UND has not played yet and the gophers have time to get better.

I just think Minnesota could have used a couple CHL contributors. UND didn’t really have a choice whether or not to dip into the CHL with their departures up front. Minnesota had the choice but decided to stick to their guys.

Especially with a fanbase that so often acts like any non-Minnesotan player is somehow worse than every Minnesotan & talks s*** about Canada/Canadian players.
