Doesn't sound like if UND will get a biggie, but when. May have to wait until after the draft to find out whom. 1 Quote

McMahon said today that a few teams are intentionally leaving a spot or two open until after the draft for these players. Given what Schloss has said and what our depth chart looks like, UND is obviously one of those teams. It’s also worth noting that UND will have three forwards drafted and worst case scenario they’ll have Schultz or Simpson come in early. I would like those guys play high minutes in the USHL though. I predict they land a CHL 2005 center and one draft eligible player in the first two rounds. 3 Quote

I’m guessing they nag a WHL guy who is a mid round pick (2nd-4th) and a depth older transfer. Maybe they nab a guy from a USports school that has a year or 2 left? I’m guessing Komzak withdraws from the portal and they add a 1 year depth D for insurance. Quote

Last time I checked, I think our 4 guys likely getting drafted (Schultz, Simpson, Laurila, and O’Niel) were in the mid 3rd to 5th round range. It probably would take a player drafted in the first two rounds to make the team next year. If there is a lot of guys coming over to the NCAA, I am sure UND will be able to snag one or two. Quote

I certainly hope so. I don't want our CHL players to be guys who always finish their checks, but can't do much of anything else. 1 Quote

The only one of those players maybe cracking the 3rd round is Laurila. I’m not sure Schultz’s year was strong enough. I am high on him for next year though. I think he’ll go, at the earliest, late 4th or most likely 5th. Simpson needs a year in juniors for sure. Quote

brianvf Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago It'll be really interesting to see how productive some of these CHLers are in NCAA. You look at a guy like Noah Powell (also an ASU newcomer). Puts up 5 points in half a season at OSU, then moves to the OHL where he puts up almost a pt/gm there. Now back to the NCAA. It honestly wouldn't shock me if most of these guys only score like 10-12 pts as freshmen. Going up against much more defensive, and older, and stronger opponents...it's gonna be an eye-opener for the vast majority of them. Quote
Benny Baker Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago In the same 2013-14 season Adam Tambellini put up 0.25 pts/gm at UND, he was averaging 1.26 pts/gm in the WHL. Quote

The depth CHLers will put up 10-12 points if they're placed in a depth role in the NCAA. If they're elevated into a bigger role, they would tend to produce more. The top CHLers should be able to produce pretty darn well for the most part, unless of course they're buried down the lineup. Quote
