James has never been overly offensive (will most likely look to carve out an energy role/pk role at the next level) but maybe has a big senior year? Zellers is nice. Maybe Swanson takes off? One of those portal guys could take a big jump playing a support role with a superstar. Quote

Because Michigan will match $4$. How about one of the highest goal scoring forwards in the USHL in a while in Zellers. If I recall he put up numbers similar if not better than Boeser. If he needs more than that, then maybe he isn't the generational talent they say he is. Be the guy that is the antithesis of a bunch of all the other first rounders and choose to play on a team that will most closely resemble an NHL team, not a bunch of high end guys thrown together to try and catch magic in a bottle for one season. It's a long shot, but it doesn't hurt to make a pitch. 1 Quote

The issue is that Michael Hage is at Michigan. Probably a more attractive line mate from a production standpoint. Quote
RhettRingers Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago McKenna isn't happening unfortunately. He's represented by CAA. They have many connections to Michigan. We haven't had any CAA guys since we fumbled the bag on Rizzo and Halliday. Quote

Give Bryn more time to develop relationships. If we don't land a big name CHL guy it isn't the end of the world. You do realize McKenna is generational talent and everyone wants him. He will play college hockey for one year be the first pick next year and be a top 6 forward in the NHL in the fall of 26. 1 Quote
RhettRingers Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Hearing DuPont is a serious possibility, would still be a year out but he would excel his schooling and be here is a young 17-year-old. Similar to what Jonny Toews did. Quote

McKenna aside, there are a handful of guys that could help our team quite a bit, and getting one of those shouldn't be a bridge too far. If other programs start pulling some of these guys it will be more upsetting. 2 Quote

High end Dub forward options that could come in this season: Roger McQueen (2006, bad back) Carter Bear (2006, Achilles cut, likely out for 1st half of 2025-26 season) Lynden Lakovic (2006) Ben Kindel (2007) Cole Reschny (2007) Cameron Schmidt (2007) Braeden Cootes (2007) Nathan Behm (2007) Quote

Seriously though, I am sick of all the excuses and alibis as to why UND can't do this and can't do that. It becomes self-fulfilling prophecy. The swagger of Fighting Sioux (Hawk) hockey must be restored. That starts with not being shy about recruiting targets. 3 Quote

A month ago there was an article stating that it was down to UND & MI. Now you're stating that UND never stood a chance with him. Quote

I would imagine that if McKenna is unavailable that they'll go after another high-profile CHL player. Because if UND was serious about adding a guy like McKenna, you'd think they'd still want such an elite forward if he becomes unavailable. Schlossman today wrote that UND will probably add 2 more F. Maybe a utility guy like Montgomery was & a high-profile CHL guy. Quote

If NIL has to be a thing ... "Pay that man his money!" Seems like the kind of game changing player that (with all these other additions) could truly make us a top contender next year. Pointless. He’s going to Michigan. Quote

SpudsSioux Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I would love to see them add a big CHL name (McKenna, Rechny, Kindel, Bear are my favorites), but I also won't think the sky is falling if we don't this first year. After hearing how absent we've been on the recruiting trail and building relationships with agents/advisors, it's a tall task to expect BC to reel one in this soon. I have no doubt that as he builds relationships (and hopefully we start seeing a better product on the ice and being a contender) that he will routinely be getting 1-2 of those per year. Overall, I'm liking what I'm seeing from a roster construction standpoint. Balancing out the classes a bit and looks like there's more of a strategy around who they're getting and the type of game they want to play. Being able to make a coaching change and retain an all-american, a former USHL player of the year, a first round pick and 2 of the first-team USHL guys from this year is a good sign. If we hadn't made a coaching change and added BC to the mix, I would be much more doom and gloom if they don't get a big name this year. I really do think if it's not this year, it's just a matter of time now. Quote

Would still be pretty happy with that. 1 Quote
