I'm happy for him, can't say I saw it coming. I figured Drake would have the C. Maybe Stecher or even LaDue.

I say that because they both have been called "future captain" nearly since they arrived on campus. With a small senior class, it makes sense.

I saw him, for sure, wearing a letter his senior year. This year, I had him as a wildcard to wear an A. I thought for sure it was going to be Stecher with the C. That being said, I'm completely fine with Gage wearing the C. His play was unreal, this past year.

*bit of a stretch here but it seemed that he emerged as an 'on ice' leader in the playoffs.  This gives us 2 captains at D and 2 at forward.

I'm not surprised by it at all either. I did guess Stecher would get the C this year but Ausmus would have been my 2nd guess. As you said both have been called "future captain" by a number of players and people around the program.
