82SiouxGuy
Goal judges make mistakes just like regular refs. In most arenas that still have goal judges, just for the heck of it, they are boosters of the school who are given a nice seat to watch the game. I've seen a goal judge hit the light when the shot hit the plexiglass in front of his face.
sprig
You don't need a goal judge behind the net in today's college hockey world. We just need to have adequate video angles. This is much better than someone sitting behind the net. They're not going to see ever angle either.Agree with this. We've seen replays of potential goals from multiple camera angles that almost always help those of us watching on tv decide if we think it's a good goal or not, before the referee review is done. Usually, the referees decision matches what we saw. Still there's that recent craziness that referee decisions are different than what we saw. Someone seperate from the on ice referees should be looking at it and making the decision. And not a goal judge, who usually sees less than the referee.
