burd Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 10/15/88 shows a home 5-4 win over Northern Michigan. I'm going to sit down tonight and examine all tie games UND was involved in from 1988 to 1992. Not sure where I'd ever begin to find a boxscore. Are the old Herald articles electronically searchable? smokey the cat Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Are the old Herald articles electronically searchable? No. Anything even over a week old they want money for. GF Public Library is the one location for Oct. 1990 GF Heralds. Quote

runaroundsioux Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 This is what I miss most about Sweeney. His vast knowledge and history of Sioux hockey is irreplaceable. 1 Quote
burd Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Pat Sweeney would know! If you call him, and I hope you do, ask him what he remembers about the circle of sticks. 1 Quote
burd Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 For those doubting my elephant-like memory when it comes to hockey, I recall Moscow Dynamo rolling into town in 88-89 and Justin Duberman recording a hat trick in what was a very entertaining 5-7 loss for the Sioux. Commie b*stards! Lot of chances to hear "Justin Doooooooooooooooooooobermannnnn" Quote

Shawn-O Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Maybe we are thinking of the 5-4 game in October 88 mafia man... Quote

Any record anywhere of the biggest comeback in team history? Quote
Shawn-O Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I would bet January of 86 at home against Duluth might have been the biggest...but that was an 8-7 win...that must be the one I'm thinking of...it's all a bit foggy Quote

Biggest comeback would have been 2012 against rodnets on the comeback from being down 3-0 and winning 6-3. Quote

Jayson Hajdu Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Unfortunately, our record books do not include "largest deficit overcome in a victory" but that's something we absolutely need to research and add in future years. The UMD game you reference on Jan. 11, 1986 might not represent the largest deficit overcome, but certainly could qualify as the most improbable comeback. UND trailed 7-3 with 2:56 left in the third period before scoring four goals in a 2:41 span to force overtime, two by Brian Williams and one each by Scott Koberinski and Chris Jensen. Ian Kidd deflected a Glen Klotz shot 50 seconds into overtime for the winner. Quote
Shawn-O Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I now think I crashed the Kappa Sig pregame party and ended up drinking out of Mafia Man's glass by mistake... Quote

Maybe because on of the ds (Kidd) never could remember what position he played. Quote

It made an unpleasant job fun......at least from the point where they scored their 4th goal. Quote
