sprig Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Watching the games this past weekend, the amount of obstruction hooking that Findlay and Wayne State got away with against the Sioux was phenomenal. Bochenski couldn't make a move without someone impeding his progress with a stick. It's amazing that he even got one goal. The Brown broadcaster complained about it constantly both games. Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 The Brown broadcaster complained about it constantly both games. Well, if it's against Brown, it doesn't count. Quote
dagies Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Dagies, did anybody take your tickets yet? NO Quote
dagies Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Does anyone else find it interesting that Zach Parise is doing so well at the World Juniors, but is having trouble scoring in the NCAA? Could it be that he doesn't get mugged in Finland like he does in the US? PCM, a friend said the same thing to me. That, or fighting through all the mugging has made him a better player. Quote
sprig Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 ZP is extending his point lead in the tourney, 3 today, Canada's Stewart has 1 so far, and we know how many Ovechkin has. Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Russia goes on a 5-on-3 power play for 1:48. Sportscaster says Russians are very good actors. Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Another penalty on US. 5-on-3 hasn't expired. Russians think they are in the Olympic diving event. Quote
sprig Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Had to expect Russia would get a 2 man advantage since the US did. Now Wisniewski goes, this 2 man advantage will last forever. Quote
Diggler Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 The Russians sound like the international version of Boston College, diving every 5 seconds. Suter needs to lay the smack down on the Commies. Quote
DMT Posted December 31, 2003 Author Posted December 31, 2003 Article on Zach Parise and Team USA from USA Today. USA Today Link Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Russia scores on the power play at 10:45. It's US 4, Russia 1. Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Team USA needs to keep its composure. Time for another ZP shorty. Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 USA back to full strength. Montoya makes a great save. Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Russia called for too many men on the ice at 14:12. US power play over. Under 3 minutes to go. Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Montoya gets run. Big scrum in front of the net. Looks like Montoya is okay. Russia gets two men in the box. US gets one. US will be on power play. Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 USA wins it 4-1. Great game for Parise. Great game for Montoya. Quote
01grad Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 So Parise ended up with 2 goals and 1 assist? Quote
PCM Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 So Parise ended up with 2 goals and 1 assist? Power play goal, shorthanded goal and an assist. Quote
Schmitzzz Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Power play goal, shorthanded goal and an assist. The game winning goal as well I believe. Quote
sprig Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 So Parise ended up with 2 goals and 1 assist? Correct. If Slovakia wins their game that is just starting, they will be tied with Russia in Pool A, with the head to head a tie also. Have no idea what the next tiebreakers are, but if Russia ends up third in the A pool, US could see them again on Saturday. Quote
jk Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Fantastic! Being the homer Sioux fan that I am, I have to note that this is a good result for the Sioux as well. Since the US has now avoided the play-in game, the US will play one less game than it played last year. Only two tourney games left for the US, so maybe the boys will come home with a little more jump in their legs than if they had three left. Considering that the Fristche (NHL), O'Sullivan (best offensive player in the OHL), Eaves line is supposed to be the top line, Zach's performance has been just amazing. Congrats to the whole US team. Quote
sprig Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Apparently the next US game will be televised on tape delay in the US the following weekend, after the team is home. No mention of what network? Quote
sprig Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Considering that the Fristche (NHL), O'Sullivan (best offensive player in the OHL), Eaves line is supposed to be the top line, Zach's performance has been just amazing. The O'Sullivan line was line 1 in the prelim. Finland game, but the Parise line has been 1 since the tourney started. Eaves rolls four lines even strength, but plays the top two lines on the PP and PK. Quote
