WPoS
So I go to the Gopher-Latvia "game" last night...as the Gophs are crushing the poor Latvians, Goldy gets out his big "sieve" hand and we all start sieving their second goalie...he happens to be standing next to this guy that just sat there...turns out mr. sit-on-my-hands was a UND fan, which is fine. So Goldy starts Sieving the guy...about this time there is a terrible situation developing on the ice...a Latvian player goes down with a BAD knee injury, as their trainer comes acrss the ice the UND guy grabs the hand and tosses it, YEP, right on to the ice, right by the injured guy...nice, the he promptly calls someone to laugh about his exploits...only to gert escorted out of the building shortly later, not laughing then...almost lookign like he had no idea why he was leaving. Hope it was none of you, but some random idiot who happened to be wearing a UND sweatshirt. WPoS
MoneyLine
I'm sure he was being harrassed by that a** hole gopher. That big hand in your face what would you do. That mascot is a retard. So he threw the hand on the ice. oooh What about the cheap shot the gopher player put on the Latvian that took out his knee. Probably a gopher ref, so there was no penalty. Right! Marty
Goldy should be shot in the head! He is the stupidest mascot of any sports team. Sounds like Goldy had it coming to him. If he can taunt a fan why can't the fan taunt him back. I agree that the fan probably shouldn't have thrown the hand on the ice.
WPoS
hey if you can't take any grief form a big fake smelly wet mascot, get a life too! Actually I know the ref from last night and he was pretty much fair in not calling penalties...I can't say what happened to the Latvian player as I was distracted by the whole ruckus behind me, but throwing things on the ice unless it is a hat for a hat-trick is bad form PERIOD! WPoS
fine, I guess UND fans can do no wrong. admin can you remove this thread? Thanks!
CoteauRinkRat
Its not that UND fan can do no wrong, it is the fact that throwing a sieve hand on the ice isn't that big of a deal.

WPoS
throwing anything on the ice is bad (cept hats) but to do so during a injury is truely classless! Then to think you were cool to do it is worse. WPoS
Goon
I agree with WPoS on this one. The guy was at a Gopher exhibition game, not a UND/Gopher game. I don't think it was appropriate for him to do that, especially with an injured player on the ice. Why are we talking about this on a UND message board. I think we should kill this thread. PCM
I'd like to know why any self-respecting UND fan would go watch the Gophers beat up on Latvia. I think he was a plant intended to make Sioux fans look bad.

airmail
Sorry, I just don't think it was that big of a situation. The fan's timing might have been bad with the injury and all, and you shouldn't throw things on the ice. But... Goldy started messing with someone who obviously wasn't in the mood for his shenanigans, and caught it in the ass. I guess if the guy beat the hell out of Goldy, and threw him on the ice, I'd be more outraged and would have different feelings about the situation. But with his cardboard sieve finger? Not a big deal, IMO. And I seriously doubt he was aiming for the injured player... WPoS, is that the most terrible thing you've seen a fan do? WPoS
WPoS, is that the most terrible thing you've seen a fan do? no it is not, but it ranks up there, I mean take it away from Goldy and step on it or what ever, but tossing it with enuf force to make it to the ice seemed kinda intentional, plus add the injury, or it could've easily been during play. Sitting in a "openents" student section you HAVE to expect some shenanigans...I didn't even realise it was a UND fan until someone pointed it out. Regardless of the fan's orientation he deserve the boot, even if he was a Gopher fan. WPoS

CoteauRinkRat
Has Goldy himself every been tossed over the glass and on to the ice? Now that would be something to talk about
Fedorov
throwing anything on the ice is bad (cept hats) but to do so during a injury is truely classless! Then to think you were cool to do it is worse. WPoS Are you saying that it is classy to taunt a fan during the injury? Sioux fans do not cheer for UND or taunt anyone during an injury. When Goldy shot pucks at a Badger fan on the ice for intermission intertainment, was that classy? The funny thing is the fact that you come on this board to represent a great Gopher hockey fan, and yet you were watching the fans instead of the hockey game. Herf
A few points 1. You didn't notice what happened to the Latvian guy b/c you were distracted by what was happening with Goldy and the guy. How the hell would the guy being sieved have any clue about the injury if you were distracted and didn't notice it as well? 2. Goldy was sieving during an injury? ahem... 3. Anyone who sits in an opposing teams student section should expect to get harrassed, tormented, etc... and needs to get a thick skin. 4. Coming to the UND board to discuss a single stupid event isn't a "classy" move either. Take it to POI and have a lovefest. Being that this is not typical of you (from my lurking), I won't hold it against you.
Greyeagle
When Goldy shot pucks at a Badger fan on the ice for intermission entertainment, was that classy? That was a set-up. It was Saturday Goldy shooting at Friday Goldy dressed as a Badger fan. One of the Goldy's was the son of on of my dad's coworkers.
Fedorov
Being that this is not typical of you (from my lurking), I won't hold it against you. I agree, this is not typical of you. If you just came here and said the guy was a dumba$$ for sitting in the student section and throwing it on the ice, we would have agreed with you. However, talking about class and not realizing that the injury should have stopped taunting, you made the thread into an attack. Yes, I will forgive you because you normally contribute very nicely to the forum. And by no means do I expect you to want any forgiveness, which you definitely won't get for being a Gopher fan.
