I think he is saying that if you have the #1 seed in the tournament, that means you won the MacNaughton Cup and that means you get to hang a banner. Of course, other schools (including a certain school in Minneapolis) hang banners for runner-up finishes and AAU titles from the 1930's. But we hang banners for WCHA and NCAA titles only, along with one banner that has all of our WCHA tournament titles and another one that has all of our Frozen Four appearances on it. gordwiser Posted February 21, 2011 Share Posted February 21, 2011 I've never been a believer in the "good loss" philosophy. If you're playing at this level, you want to win every game. I played varsity college sports and I wanted to win every game. Heck, I'm 36 and play pickup basketball and in an old man league and I still want to win every game! If this team is good enough to win the next 12 in a row, and I think they are, a loss in there isn't going to make them any hungrier or relieve any pressure. Of course these are young adults and every team has lulls in play and can have off nights, but this is a deep team with a nice mix of older leaders and a bunch of young guys that shouldn't know any better.
