UND1983 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I think 12K is pretty good. NDSU doubles the average playoff attendance of UND, which is THE FLAGSHIP university in North Dakota, has twice as many fans(or more) than NDSU, has a monopoly on fans all over the state and region, and has pretty much rendered NDSU irrelevant outside Cass County. By the way, I think athletically NDSU will be fine, but academically, I'm a little worried about being on the same field as a team from the Ivy League of the West. I just don't know if NDSU is a peer institution. So now 12k is pretty good huh? Last week it was a guaranteed 16-17k because of your "rabid" fan base, which obviously doesn't exist. Looks like I knew what I was talking about with playoff attendance, doesn't it?
UND1983 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 They had a lot of fun with our attendance in the playoffs (even though we had home playoff games every year for 6-7 years). Lets see how many people they get to show up when: - Everyone has to buy a ticket. Everyone. Students, season ticket holders, faculty, parents. - They can't have 2 for 1's at Stop and Go. - It is Thanksgiving Weekend = No Students - They can't lie about there attendance because season tickets don't count anymore. - They are playing the worst team in the entire field which was a complete gift by the committee. I am guessing there will be 10-11k. So close.
Bison Dan Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 So close. Still more than twice as much as your last home playoff game.
Rick Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 i will eat my crow. ndsu did draw the most today on which is traditionally a bad day attendance wise for fcs playoffs. thanksgiving weekend hurts a lot Very good point. With the students home for the Thanksgiving holiday it makes it very difficult to sellout a game. I noticed Sioux Hockey had the same issue up in Grand Forks.
homer Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Still more than twice as much as your last home playoff game. Which was against a team we used to beat handily in the playoffs and beat by 40+ points the year before. Not exactly the recipe for a huge crowd. I mean if the dome only is 2/3's full for the first playoff game ever, how full would you expect it to be against Bob Morris after kicking their ass for 3 years in a row. 1 1

I just don't know if NDSU is a peer institution. Fargodome 64 % filled. REA 100.8% filled. If UND can find a way to get fans to watch indoor hockey against Notre Dame, then NDSU should have found ways to get fans to watch indoor playoff football against RMU. Weather was perfect plus its in a dome. Holiday weekend meant a lot of tickets that should have opened up for the average person. 19,000 strong.. only during the regular season I guess. New NDSU motto: FCS playoffs.......12,000 strong will you be there.....probably not.

We are a third year transitional program and you are several years out of transition and are just now having your first real football success at Division I. But if that makes you feel better, than by all means, roll with it.

First home playoff game since Bill Clinton was first elected in the White House vs a team that won a national title its first year in its building.

Darell and FightingSioux4Life - My apologies, you are correct. I promise not to bring any Bison or Sioux item on your board until you have fully transitioned with playoff eligibility so that we have an apples to apples comparison. Indeed it was in bad taste for me to bring up. Possibly we could meet in the playoffs in three years. If that happens and should NDSU win in this hypothetical situation, I would assume that NDSU in its 6th year of eligibility vs. UND's 1st year of eligiblity may be a discussion point. Here's to meeting in the 2013 playoffs!

Yes our regular season attendance is poor but we are talking about the poor attendance at the dome for playoffs. Plus our 1st year of eligibility for playoffs is 2012.
