  1. Wonder why people don't pitch in? Healthy debate should lead to support. I believe if there is a concern or debate, let's address it with action. Heck, if we all agreed to pay $20 a month to the Fighting Hawk Football Club, with all money going to the football team for equipment, it could go a long way. Us supporters should put our money where our mouth is.
  2. Black helmets run $250-$280 each, to outfit the team, that would cost roughly $19,000. GoFundMe could get it done. Let's do it!
  3. I think the goal is to add black maybe next year. Its about building the program and that takes dollars. I'm not a rich guy, but I donate some money to help purchase some black helmets and uniforms. I'm sure if done in accordance to NCAA rules, the athletic department would be happy to take in some private funds. Anybody with me?
  4. I think the green looks better in person compared to photos. When they took the field at Wyoming last year, I was really impressed. Its a matter of personal taste. But, I think Bubba is infusing gray to show UND football can offer variety to recruits. It's not about the helmet themselves. It's about recruiting talent that can win. Young players are about style too. When we buy fan gear, we want to look good wearing it. I'd buy a cool gray Fighting Hawk polo or t-shirt to go with my green and black ones.
  5. I think the boys will look nice sporting either of the two hehelmets.
  6. When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you tend to play good. Play good...Big Sky Champs...FCS playoffs.
  7. Matte in any color is the newer trend. Young athletes identify with it. Matte gray or green helmets or simply multiple uniforms options are a recruiting tool and they also give current players to get excited about when they compare what they have to their buddies at other schools many FBS schools do it for the exact same reasons. Us older guys didn't have that luxury during our playing days. But times have changed.
  8. Add a green face mask to the gray helmet and that's a nice look. Throw in some black cleats and I'd suit up for UND. If I had eligibility left and two good knees.
  9. A few teams will be better this year. It's just how it goes. No one saw UND and or PSU coming last year. But, I like our chances. Our better should be mo' better than most everyone else's better.
  10. Terrible news. Second PSU death in matter of 5 months. Thoughts and prayers to Vikings family.
  11. Hoping it all translates to wins but the increased depth and athleticism of the team is evident. Adding back in the walking wounded playmakers and the G train, the future looks pretty good.
  12. Olbermann looks really good! Good to see Brady back running with power.
  13. Today's recruiting is fluid and dynamic in the sense, athletes recruit other athletes as much if not more than coaches do. UND football laid a good foundation the past two years and is trending upwards. It's important not to take a step backwards in 2016. There is a "cool factor" building at UND with the success of the sports teams, and winning the hockey crown can only help. I don't think UND will lose any football recruits because of hockey. Championships bring in money, which brings in better equipment, facilities, uniforms etc. across the board. All this stuff matters to recruiting.
  14. Success is contagious in a school environment. Hockey trophies give the students something to be excited about. The football team had a solid year while getting snubbed by the playoff committee, the basketball ball team had a buzz this season as well. Winners like being around other winners and our football team is stacked with kids that won prior to arriving in Grand Forks. I foster the trend continuing this fall. UND hockey success will permeate the athletic facility and help recruiting.
  15. Thank you UNDvince97-01. By Siouan's logic, we should hope the NDSU never loses another game and all of their kids get drafted. That will help UND rise to national prominence. I'm sure when Carson shakes Roger Goddell's hand, and put that Cowboys cap on, he will thank the Bubba and the rest of the UND coaches for believing in him. Not!!
  16. Now, if Carson goes on national television and sends a shout out to UND football, I would gladly eat crow.
  17. So we should root for NDSU to win more championships? That will help UND? I live in a big city...if you ain't hunting, you ain't eating. I think if Will Ratelle makes a roster and another player follows suit, in the short-term future, that will lift the UND ship.
  18. I like the hits that gets the crowd and team hype. As long as we are on the giving side of the equation. The game today is played kinder and gentler. I miss the decleater hits. But kids would get tossed from the game today.
  19. A decapitated opponent would be okay I guess. As long as they are able to board the busses after the game with a loss.
  20. Lol, old school is just a moniker. Don't get it twisted. LoL I guess you feel Wentz is good for UND sports somehow? Must be small town thinking I guess. I'm curious how you come to the conclusion that discussion of a non UND athlete helps UND athletes. Is the logic based in the fact that he is from the area so that will make scouts notice UND athletes?? That's an honest question. Non puns or sarcasm intended.
  21. I'd love it if the football team entered the stadium to "Here I Go" by Mystikal. It's a little edgy for Grand Forks, but we want a edgy team.
