  1. There will be times in pads when the rush doesn't get home...the DBs still gotta cover and contest. Its only day 2. Not panicked yet just commentary. Of course we don't want our QBs eating lunch through a straw either.
  2. I agree Iceman...but I would expect the defense to be winning more of these battles against a familiar offense. 30 to 40 yard TDs in what essentially is flag football during an unpadded practice tells me the defense is not being aggressive enough. Teeder, thanks for the updates. We need to buy your lunch or dinner!
  3. I don't care that you disagree with me. I know for fact that players on the team last season had soles of their cleats literally separate from the rest of the shoe while Adidas on more than one occasion. You talking spit...I'm talking facts. I have worn while playing in college and overseas and purchased many Nike cleats for my son and NEVER had that problem. That doesn't have squat to do with LeBron or MJ. Get real dude.SMH
  4. Adidas is simply not on par with Nike but they support college football and probably charge less to do so. Therefore, it balances out. They do need to improve the quality of football cleats IMO.
  5. Most FBS transfers drop down to FCS to either get playing time that they were not getting at the FBS level or they had "minor" infractions that necessitated the transfer. So skill and maturity wise...there isn't much difference between a true or red shirt freshman and a FBS transfer in my opinion. If a guy is lighting it up at the FBS level, would he really consider playing FCS?
  6. I watched HUDL video for each of our CB's. It appears they had no issue with man coverage coming in. This is why were offered a chance to play at the collegiate level. Put a player in the right scheme and preach the proper technique and they tend to do well and even excel. Not sayin our guys won't get beat on occasion because the opponents are on scholarships also. Guys at the pro level get beat. But we do have guys that can play at high level.
  7. Its true...
  8. My bad. Not trying to kill the buzz at all. Just saying there will be unforeseeable surprises. This class looks good.
  9. No doubt Carter and Santiago let it be known early that their shirts would be pulled. Not dissing the incoming freshmen class. Sometimes we get a little head of ourselves with many factors to consider. The incoming class looks strong and promises to raise the bar. Just saying Santiago was a projected WR not to be an all world running back. That was a pleasant surprise!
  10. I'm cautious about labeling kids in July. This time last year, many thought Iwarri was coming in to be That Dude... All I'm saying let's hope for positive results and let the process play out before we start crowning kids. No one saw Santiago becoming an All American at RB in July.
  11. Memorizing names and looking at programs is optional at all sporting events. Its not that serious. But I'm still amazed that having a name on back of a jersey means a player is not a team first guy, but many colleges and all pro teams do it??? When guys are inducted to the Hall of Fame or retire, they exhaust a box of tissue thanking coaches and teammates.
  12. The short answer is, yes.
  13. Just found out the helmet issue is still alive. Just need some supporters will to help make it happen.
  14. Maybe they want to keep some things under wraps. I've seen a team pre game warm up in one uniform, then take the field for kickoff dressed in an entirely different uniform. Got the crowd and players fired up. Unlikely at UND but possible.
  15. I said it before and I will say it again. Coverage is about technique and scheme. As the season progressed last year, coverage improved when scheme was tweaked and technique was modified. The DBs were allowed to be more agressive versus having multiple pre snap and post snap reads. The game slowed down and it showed in the results after Montana. The secondary will be fine.
  16. No as a follow-up comment. We can afford to put names on the back of youth football jerseys. Make the kids pay for their own or parents. No cost to school. I'm sure it would boost morale and pride even more to have their family name on back of the jerseys. I never equate that to bring less of a team first guy.
  17. Personalized jerseys cost money and limits the ability to slap a jersey on a freshly burned Red shirt player. But beyond tradition, it's all about saving $
  18. This kid must have failed diplomacy at CU. Acting like he got drafted by MSU. I think our secondary will be just fine without him. Harris and Carter are returning. Not to mention other talent here with more on the way.
  19. Congrats to Will. It's size of the fight in the dawg! UND proud!
  20. UND Fan, thanks for providing background information. It's good to know what's been done in the past. I made a call earlier so I'm waiting to hear back, probably on Monday or Tuesday. UNDBiz your feedback is also appreciated. Just looking at all options.
  21. Ratell will have a busy summer.
  22. I don't begrudge anyone, just looking to exercise an alternative avenue to support the program, if possible. There are probably administration requirements that have to be met. I'd be interested to know more supporting through the UND foundation also.
  23. Fair enough. I respect that.
  24. I'll give it a shot. Meaning, I'll make some calls to the athletic department to see if they'd accept the support within all legal guidelines. If thumbs are up, we can go from there.
