  1. How's this for sacrilegious, I don't think Blais is that good of a coach. His success at UND was off the backs of his assistants. Since leaving UND he's made the Frozen Four once, playoffs twice, no conference championships, no conference tournament championships, and most importantly no natties.

  2. I literally. Can. Not. Fathom. Why this discussion continues to come up? I swear, Hakstol had to have slept with half the sisters and mothers on this board.

It starts with the people that can't celebrate a national championship without taking some sort of dig at him. Then it devolves into the posters whose glasses are so green tinted they can't acknowledge the mere idea that UND didn't field the absolute best team in college hockey every year for the last sixteen years.

I firmly believe that Hakstol probably did blow it in the DOT years, that team was much too talented. Outside of that, I don't believe he likely did anything himself to lose any of those games, by either his coaching or his philosophy. In fact, a few of those teams I saw in the tournament, and make the Frozen Four, had no business being there.

Maybe it's my two hours of sleep, but this thread makes me nauseas, and makes my head hurt.

Trolling? I wasn't "trolling", I seriously did not understand the rationale for approving one request and denying another. I will leave the legal judgements to UND's legal staff.

In Benny's defense, it did seem like it. I was having a hard time understanding how you couldn't grasp using video for a one time thing over mass marketing it for profit either.

Uh ... Don't you have to be an NCAA member to if your end goal to play NCAA hockey? Shouldn't they be making the move to leave the NAIA for the NCAA? Shouldn't they be talking to the (already bloated for membership) Northern Sun to have an NCAA home?

Yes to all of it. I'm not on the board, but I would have to feel inclined that these discussions are taking place.

That'd be awesome!  A lot of great games and plays this year.  In hindsight, I wish I could have sat back and enjoyed it a little more while it happened!  Although I have my fingers crossed, I doubt we see too many (dare I say any) more 34-win seasons at UND.

If the seniors, Stecher, and Thompson are the extent of our losses this year, maybe Luke, I like our possibilities for next year. Could be a pretty special year.

  6. Living in Jamestown, and being a graduate back when it was Jamestown College, the growth the campus has seen, and the number of buildings that have sprung up, definitely leads me to believe something is up for the future. I can't see them developing this to stay at the ACHA level.

However, the hockey facilities themselves need a vast improvement in order to make that kind of jump, in my opinion.

I hope they do it, it would be fun to have a place to take the kids for some higher level play, outside High School hockey.

    TV Ratings

The facts cannot be ignored. The 2015-16 FCS National Championship football game had more national TV viewers than ALL 3 games of the 2016 Frozen Four college hockey  tournament.

    Frozen Four TV Ratings
    UND/Denver 361K
    BC/Quin 138

    UND/Quin 541K
    Total 1.04M

    FCS TV Ratings
    NDSU/Jack St. 1.40M

I've seen this used before. What I'd like to know though is this number of viewers for hockey, or households? When a Bison fan threw this at me before, I looked into it because I had a hard time believing it, and it turned out that comment hockey was reported by number of households, which equates to about a 2.4 multiple if you compare household to viewership. This could have changed, but if it hasn't, that puts the hockey national championship around a 1.3M rating. Not a lot of difference.

I can say I wouldn't have said that. If we lost to Denver on Thursday it would not have been because of puck luck. They played well enough to beat us. If we would have lost on Saturday to QU, then I would have put that partially on puck luck. I wouldn't say we were without a doubt better than QU for the season, but we definitely were on Saturday. Sounds like QU didn't play as well as they could have and their best player was seriously injured. We played just about as well as we did all season. We may have played slightly better against Denver in December and in the regionals than we did at the Frozen Four, but we played great last week.

When we lost to BU last year, we lost to the better team in my opinion. Didn't help that Zane had what may have been the worst game of his career but BU was really good. We lost to the better team in Philadelphia when we lost to Minnesota. We had the puck luck to even get there. We were without a doubt the better team against Michigan in 2011, but their goalie played great. That happens in hockey. So I guess we could say we were lucky that Garteig was a terrible floppy fish this year and we were unlucky that Hunwick stood on his head.

It blows my mind how people forgot that we needed a miracle to even be in the tournament that year, let alone get to the Frozen Four. Then on top of it, we gave the season long #1 team in the country a serious run for their money. With them only beating us off a fluke goal with .6 remaining.

Agreed.  I didn't even realize that NDSU was in the championship again this year until someone posted it on FB.  Of course, I'm a long ways away from that scene.  ;)

You must not have many friends from the area. My FB is flooded daily with Bison bs.

  10. I hope he has an extremely successful career. Sucks seeing him go, but like others have said, he has literally nothing left for him in the college game. With all the draft picks on the ice each night, he was still the best player more often than not. Good luck Troy. I hate the Canucks, but like the Flyers, I'll be watching and cheering you on.

How is this related to his injury?

It wouldn't be necessarily related to the injury, but if he hasn't been attending class, then that means he won't be back next fall, and the injury question was posed in a manner that it (the injury) may keep him here.

I don't know these guy's classroom habits, but anyone that's been skipping the spring semester means they are gone.
