I swear, some of the folks on this board just kill me...

If Alexander Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, and Claude Giroux were wearing Michigan uniforms last weekend, there would STILL be people here saying either A) they didn't even notice them out on the ice or B) those three players would develop better if they were wearing North Dakota jerseys.

Yes, but would those 3 go -7?

So he would've only scored 40 or 50 points?... and we wouldn't want him on our team?

My glasses are tinted as green as the biggest Sioux fans but saying we wouldn't want one of the most dynamic players in the country is asinine.

I wasn't the one that said I wouldn't take him on the team, obviously he's very good. What irritates me to no end is the fact that Michigan has supposedly 3 of the best 10 players in college hockey on one line, when it should be obvious that the competition, or lack thereof, evidently wasn't taken into consideration. That lines numbers are extremely inflated due to the fact they play in the Big, and then beyond that faced almost noone in out of conference scheduling. Two of the teams that did make the tournament, of the 3 they played, needed to win a conference tournament to make it. I believe, they would have put up similar stats, maybe a little less, than the CBS line in the NCHC. Still very, very good, but not three Hobey candidate good.

Sorry, I can't get rid of the quote box above, if it shows up after I post this. The 71 points that Connor scored this year is impressive, but Michigan only played 5 games against teams that made the tournament. 1 against Ferris, 2 against BU I believe, and 2 against RIT. That isn't exactly facing the top competition in the country.

The bigger problem is what it would do to UND's hockey program over time. The big ten hockey conference has been nothing but mediocre teams that believe they have a right to be considered top teir. Also as an afilliate member I question how big a check UND would actually get from the BG10. The reality is the Big ten dosen't care that much about hockey, all the hockey coferance was supposed to be was a quick cash in on what they thought were 5 elite programs and one up and coming program with good potential. Additionally coverage on the BGten network is a dubious prosepct at best, the Network has only shown 2 games a night at best, and if baskeball is on hockey won't be aired. Addtionally they care about name recoknition more than skill, theoretically UND could be playing a noncofrence match up against denver or MN Duluth and they will air Michigan State vs Ohio. Lets no fall for the same BS sales pitch that the bigten sold the 5 hockey schools. The bigten hockey programs have been so damaged that they might not recover fully for another 4 - 6 years assuming they make changes to coaching staff and recruiting practices, do we really want that for UND hockey? The obvious anwser should be "no". Right now the Big10 is not a risk worth taking for any program, outside of maybe an Alabama Huntsville or an Alaska Anchorage. The only exceptionwould be if the BigTen offered to Make UND a Full member of the Big10, then of course UND should accept. However this will never happen for at least two reasons. 1 - many of UND's Facilities such as basketball and football are too small to meet bigten requirements. 2 - The Big10 will never accept and of the Dakota schools, the Big10 and its member instutions as well as the fans few any of the Dakota Schools as lesser instutuions that do not desevre to exist in the same universe as the the Big10 I doubt the day would ever come where they would swallow there pride and let them join, otherwise NDSU probably would have recived an offer a few years ago.

I was just replying to the question brought up about home games. I'm against the possibility myself. Be in the conference that focuses on hockey, but at the same time, I'm not under the illusion that the Bigs problems are going to long lasting. Enjoy their mediocrity while you can, they have proud programs that won't stay down forever.

If offered und will go.  Need the money for coa. I don't like the days the big ten play the games. Not sure it's a good move.     I don't live in Grand Forks and would not be able to attend as many games.  As a season ticket holder there are many of us that drive to the games Friday and Saturday nights from 150 - 200 miles away and some stay over night.  Won't work well with work.

I think it's been pretty well established that with hockey being the main show on campus, that worry will have zero effect on season ticket holders. Out of town games, might cause problems once in a while.

I said it after both games this weekend... we play like we did tonight, no one touches us. IMO, our best two single games we've played this season in the biggest weekend, thus far. Absolutely phenomenal in Cincinnati. Keep it rolling, boys.

The aspect that makes me feel the best, is although they got points on the weekend, we received scoring from areas besides CBS. That #2 line of Johnson/Gardner/Poganski was absolutely phenomenal this weekend.

    Why Ladue and not Stecher?

I'll start with stating I have no inside info, but with how tough of a decision Ladue apparently had last summer, I just assume it's a foregone conclusion. Stecher, I agree with whoever said he's the best player on the team, has said in the past he saw himself as a four year player. He's on the small side for the NHL, so the more hype he can get the better, and my one inside discussion I happened on, the scout said they'd like to see him play another year.

If we hang #8 I would bet LaDue, Stecher, Schmaltz are gone for sure.  If we somehow come up short who really knows.

I'm actually 95% confident Stecher comes back. Ladue is nearly a guarantee that he's gone. I say Schmaltz is 50-50. I think it'd be a mistake if the Poganski thing is true.

In fairness, watching the replays of Michigan's second goal, the guy was close in with time to load.  I don't know how many goalies would have snatched that one.

I may have misconstrued what I meant, I know I've ragged on Cam in the past but he played well this weekend. He stoned Michigan on a couple that he could have easily let in. What I meant by that was that I want him to shut everyone out to make it easier on my heart. Leave no doubt who the truly best team is in the nation this year. He wasn't lights out this weekend, but if he plays like he did this weekend, there's no reason we're not 8 time champion after the 9th.

Ours was a tough region, but neither NU nor UM had defenses like we will see in Tampa.  This team can do it, but I think Cam will have to be a little better.  We are certainly capable of scoring 5 or 6 against anyone, but chances are we will have to be able to win with 3 at least once.

This would be a good time for Cam to start a new run at the consecutive shutout minutes record.

I like to think UND fans usually rise above showing that kind of arrogance, crb.  If this tournament hasn't humbled you in the last 15 years, you haven't been paying attention.

I still have nightmares of '11 Michigan game. Thought that was an easy championship. .6, still makes me want to burn Dinkytown to the ground myself.

Yeah after checking Twitter for the HE trolls (@easternbias), I hope NCHC sweeps. Idc if we have to play UMD, Duluth, or SCSU, let's shut them down!

"@easternbias: Terrible screw job by the committee to not set up the possibility (let's be real, likelihood) of a BC, BU, NU, Harvard Frozen Four"

    !@#!$!.

Here's to meeting St. Cloud or Denver in the Frozen Four, and hopefully meeting Duluth in the championship.

I know there are all kinds of cliché's about how the team needed to win this tournament, but I'm not very upset about this loss.  Call it a bit of superstition or just playing the odds.  The burned a loss and got a little reminder today that it's balls to the wall.   The ONLY factor that counts, in my opinion, is Cam's confidence.  Hope that didn't get shaken today.

Four in a row starting next week.

I was flamed earlier this week, or last, I can't remember, for saying this, but I don't believe Cam is that stellar of a goalie. His numbers this season have been inflated by an offense that can maintain control of a zone for large stretches, and a defense that is nearly NHL caliber from top to bottom. He faces shots, but not scoring chances, and if he doesn't control a rebound a defenseman knocks it to the corner. No one will convince me of anything else, no matter the numbers until I see him really go out and bail us out of a game. I've been seeing far too many easy saves going to the back of the net this second half against inferior competition.
