I'd love to see Q throw a bomb.....not sure there would be any separation though. At least Maag was tall and could have went up and got it. We don't have any jump ball WR's right now though I guess....so maybe scratch throwing the bomb. -

Yep. My opinion was if after the first 3 drives we haven't done anything.....put Q in and let him throw. SIU doesn't have a good defense and we haven't done sh*t on our first three drives. -

It did suck 7-8 years ago when we got all those punts blocked. Kickoff returns etc. have been pretty good the last couple of years. You missed the post showing how many punts we blocked verses getting blocked in the past 4-5 years. But you do you, not gonna argue anymore with you, it's pointless. -

Wow Seigal, great job on returns. Our average starting position is like the 15. SIU starting at the 50 both drives. -

Yep, it's pretty much over already. Somebody at least make a big play or two so that it's worth watching in 3rd quarter. At least we should get to see what Quincy can do, just so we know. -

Apparently you haven't been watching the past 2-3 years actually, they've been pretty good other thank FG kicker at times. Which if you were paying attention to this board, a FG kicker missing is on the kicker not the coach. We blocked two punts last week did we not? -

Yeah, you should always fire the special teams coordinator every time there is 1 bad punt. Ok -

Should be on ESPN+ right? I don't think I'm seeing it listed. -

Gotcha, yeah we haven't had too many surprise or big wins on the road recently other than those you mentioned. -

SDSU last year might have been, especially in hindsight since they really should have one the Title last year and would have if not for injured QB. Montana State a couple of years ago, for me was a little surprising because our DL had injuries and they had a power running game. I figured they were going to run up and down the field, not sure how we shut them down but we did. One good thing is that we are at a point that there are very few games for us now that can be labeled a surprise win. I think this one would be classified as a surprise win, beating the #4 team at home when our offense has shown little to no signs of life the last two games. At the beginning of the year it would have been labeled as a very good road win. But given the situation now, it would be somewhat of a surprise win IMO. -
Hopefully him and Orlando can clog up the middle for the next several years.

For me the thing that makes me have a sliver at a chance is.....SIU is riding super high after the SDSU win. It's their Homecoming......so they may be coming in over confident in this game thinking they are just going to curb stomp us (which is a possibility). I'm hoping our offense comes out with a sense of purpose like the Utah State game and we somehow pull the upset. This is wishful thinking though, and I know the odds are not good. -
Yep, it is pretty much a must win on Saturday.

Those are nice FBS games to add! Driveable for lots of fans.

Ok so after 7 years with SDSU in DII, if you then take his first 8 years in the FCS, his 7th and 8th year in the FCS he finished 5-6 both of those years. He had one conference championship during that those first 8 years, Zero playoff wins. Not sure how that is any better than Bubba, and we were dealing with nickname issue and we weren't even in a conference for two years while transitioning from Big Sky to MVFC. From 2010 through 2019 during the Bison's peak run, SDSU was 2-10 against NDSU. Yep they played them close in some of those losses. But maybe we should give them credit for playing them tough, you know....like UNI and I guess we should give them participation trophy's for keeping it close in some of those 10 losses. Right now though, SDSU is one of the top FCS program and really should have a Championship. They beat Sam Houston by 10 or more easy last year if their QB didn't go down. They would have only had one loss last year, to UND. Don't take my posts though, as thinking we need to give Bubba another 7-8 years to figure it out.
-
Ummm no, I don't think we should wait 15 years and that isn't what I was saying. Just adding some perspective from one of our rival schools. Every coach in the FCS except for about 6 would be fired each and every year if this board was in charge of picking the coaches. Like you, I'm not fully convinced Bubba can get us to a Championship. But I also recognize that he isn't going anywhere this year or next year.
-
Didn't he get stripped of being a captain after that? Not sure it warranted being suspended for a game or two for a boneheaded thing he did in the heat of the moment, that really didn't hurt anyone. I agree, the sloppiness this year has been horrible and ever since the 2nd quarter of Utah State game, this has been an extremely frustrating year. However last year they were extremely sharp with very few penalties, so hard for me to say that this will be the norm going forward with Bubba's teams. Guess we'll see if this trend continues the next game or two and rest of the year. For some context on Stig, from what I see on Wikepedia he finally made the playoffs in his 13th season and lost, and the next two seasons he went 5-6. So his 14th and 15th years into his tenure he went 5-6 and had 0 playoff wins in those 15 years. I'm guessing he had some stretches in those 15 years that they looked very sloppy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stiegelmeier

SDSU must have also been very tolerant with mediocrity too. It took Stiegelmeier 20 year to make the Quarter Finals, and really for his first 20 years they could never win the big one or even semi-big one. That said, this fall has been frustrating as hell!!
-
This is my thought, we had very few penalties this spring. I can't imagine all of the sudden this fall the coaches just stopped talking about penalties etc. etc.. I'm sure they have been hammering all of this even harder than ever the past couple of weeks given what's been happening, I mean our coaches are not dumb. Somebody made a point about pre-snap motion, I can't remember if we did as much pre-snap motion in the spring or not. That could play a factor if they are doing more of that. I also think the crux of the issue is our interior OL took a drastic drop off though and everything has snowballed from that. In the end though the coaches get the blame though, that is normal. Outside of dumb penalties, there have been enough issues directly relating to coaching/play call to deserve criticism though. I'm not sure what the solution on offense is, but I'm hoping Danny figures something out this week.
-
And it took a boneheaded decision (going for it on 4th down) for his recruits to beat the lowly Hawks.
-
Was only able to watch the first quarter of the game from the Nashville airport. Wasn't surprised to see we ended up losing when I got back online. Haven't had time to go back and watch the rest of the game yet. Sure seems like our weak OL, some limitations at QB, and no true deep threat at QB have just made it too easy for teams to figure us out. Danny doesn't need to scrap the play book, but he needs to figure something out quick if we want a shot at salvaging the season. But with all of the penalties and everything, it just feels like there is something off....like the 360 guys eluded to. I wouldn't put Feeney in there, he is not our answer this year in my opinion, and I'd rather not waste a year of eligibility. If we lose next week and our offense is pathetic once again, you've got nothing to lose to put Q in on some series to shake things up and see in game action if he is more or less productive than Tommy. It's so perplexing how we scored almost as many points on the first three drives against an FBS team as we have in the last two games. I had a bad feeling going into this USD game. I'm glad SIU beat SDSU last week, they will come in riding high and confident and will be expecting to roll us as payback for last year. I think our team will play better next weekend, but not sure if it will be enough to get the win.

We can blame the coaching to a degree in the false starts, but at some point the players have to accept some responsibility for this BS.

Probably #1 in the country in FCS at it
