  1. I wondered if they might push it back a little bit to let the new OC get his feet under him a little more. However I guess having practices and having the players together practicing earlier rather than later might be want the team needs right now. Hopefully the offensive guys really like the new OC and squashes possible portal thoughts for offensive guys.
  2. So if you had the choice.......would you choose to have Bubba resign now, or at the end of the 2024 season. If he resigned in the next few weeks let's say, man it would really feel like and be perceived as a true dumpster fire across the landscape. So is it better to try and do what we can with this season, or have him resign now and clean house and start this now. Not saying he is going to resign or anything, just curious as to people's thoughts if we would be better salvaging half a decent season, or just doing this restart now......it you could choose.
  3. I highly doubt Luke would have even interviewed. Why take a lateral move when it's only a 1 year guarantee. Idaho is thought of in higher regard right now than UND, unfortunately. Now if Luke saw it as a move that could get him promoted to UND HC in short order, then maybe he would have considered it.
  4. I'm still a little numb from everything yet at this point and not really sure what to think. I don't feel as good about things as I did a day or two after Jake got hired, but that doesn't mean anything. He played in the NFL so he has obviously seen some things, does have OC experience. And like other have mentioned I like that he is confident enough in himself to take a shot at moving up even though he is only guaranteed one year. He could end up being the better choice in the end, and I'm with the others that will be hoping Jake crashes and burns at SU. It would end up a bit funny if they ended up letting him go in 2-3 years and they would be kicking themselves for taking a UND guy.
  5. It does make you wonder....if we had hired someone else.....would Landry still have been their top pick? May still have been I don't know. But I don't think it was some grand consensus on this board that Landry was head and shoulders above the other guys mentioned as options.
  6. When it rains it pours, what a sh*t show! If Bubba stepped down at end of year he could have left with at least a little Goodwill. It's really starting to look like this will end pretty badly. October 14th feels like light years away at this point.
  7. Then I am wrong on that part then. Thought someone on here had said Schmidt was going to go to Alabama with Deboer. Schmidt is also taking a step up in position to DC. Landry is taking same position.....with more pay (I think) and a lot more security. I hate it bad, but I can't say I blame him.
  8. I know he did. And Jake went to NDSU.....which is the Alabama of the FCS. Read my post again and have another drink.
  9. Agree, losing Freund hurt, but after Jake was hired was actually feeling pretty pumped about the offense next year....and new mentality. This is a huge mind F for players and mental roller coaster. Not good.
  10. So this also applies to Eric Schmidt then too right? Jake got an offer to go to the Alabama of FCS.....just like Schmidt dumped his new school and position to go to Alabama. I'm sure every one of us in Jakes position would have stuck at UND when Bubba is probably gone in a year and OC is probably gone too....verses go to the top dog with more security and more money. I'm sure we would have all stuck loyal to our new job we had for 8-10 days and say screw the amazing opportunity. It totally sucks for sure, but I can't blame him. But I sure will rooting against him hard when playing SU.
  11. I would have to think that played a factor in his decision.
  12. Wasn't he just elevated to Associate HC though when the new coach was hired? If so, doubt he got pushed out. But agree a lot of NDSU fans complained about him.
  13. I didn't either other than I knew Eddie George was the head coach. I assumed they were probably FBS though but I guess they are FCS. Seems very odd to go from a top FCS school to one that isn't even on the radar. Maybe got a lot of money, was pissed he didn't get HC, wanted experience outside of NDSU. Probably a combination of all of those. Still pretty surprising.
  14. To be OC for NDSU you mean? While we have liked Joe and has been good for the OL, I could be wrong but I'm not sure top level FCS teams would immediately have him as top on their list for an OC position. No offense to Joe and I sure hope he sticks around for a while, but I think they would be able to get someone more qualified. We didn't even hire him is our OC.
  15. I would think they are trying to go after FBS dropdown guys or other FCS guys, but just not landing them?
  16. I was thinking the exact same thing. Probably goes for other positions too, but QB is of course the big one.
  17. While Landry was the safe pick, he could also turn out to be a very good choice. As I mentioned he has more experience than Danny had coming into the OC position. Appears he ran an up tempo offense at UWL from a coaching video that someone shared with me. From his GF Herald article sounds like he believes in running the ball whether it's the RB, QB, or WR and getting the ball to playmakers hands. There were a few times last year where Danny needed to just keep running the ball but didn't. Not sure if he'll end up keeping the hurry up offense or not. I'm just as excited about our offense next year as I would have been if Danny was still here. He also said he believes in moving the pocket. Maybe he keeps some of our current plays, but brings some new ones in. Danny's trick plays were fun to watch at times, but we ran them so often they rarely worked on good teams anymore. Maybe if we go back to less trick plays, if we do need a big play against a good team and use a trick play......might have better chance of it working because they aren't always watching for it. While I am still excited about the offense in 2024, still hoping we have a different HC in place for the 2025 season.
  18. Two big games to start the 2024 year. With a new offensive coordinator, at least one advantage is there won't be any film on our offense under the new OC.
  19. He'd be a nice boy boy to have rushing off the edge!
  20. Landry has more experience than Danny did coming into the position. I did like Danny as an OC, but he did have a few head scratching moments this year. Will he bring in a whole new playbook, or just bring in some of his favorite plays and add it our existing playbook? We should have offensive talent so it will be interesting to see how the offense does. I do like that he has already been an OC so he has already called plays in various live situations when it's counted. Like someone else mentioned, wonder what his demeanor is...... hopefully it's a positive and strong one and one that the guys both respect and like. Hopefully he has the ability to recruit top level QB talent like how Danny got Jerry.
  21. It sure feels that way right now. What a hard crash down this has been from the feeling after October 14th.
  22. I'm thinking we'd be pretty excited if we had transfers like this coming in.
  23. A few people seem to think King if we stay with internal. Seems like Landry has a better resume than King and has already been an OC.
  24. Vogler, UMD OC had his offense average 37.7 points a game in 2023. I know nothing about the NSIC but he must be doing something right on offense.
