Wow iSpider....you really need to get your panties out of a bunch. I honestly couldn't read all that, just skimmed it but got the gist. For whatever reason the "Attendance" thread has taken over all of the talk/excitement. Well over 125 posts in the past day or so. Usually there is much more specific talk about the game, but for whatever reason everybody got so concerned about turnout that we have been talking about that WAY more than normal. It's not that we think this game is a cake walk and it's a given we are going to win, it's going to be a tough game. People on our board have been calling in and buying tickets to give away to students so we can get more at the game. I know one of your posters was wondering if our arena would get as loud as a pig squealing.......you know making fun. It's our first playoff game and we are very excited about it, but hey we are just dumb North Dakotan's we are not nearly as cool as you guys. I'm sure you guys can talk smart football so much better than we can. We bow down to you.

I saw it posted too and was watching a bit of it, then fast forwarded to the end to just watch that part....figured I better get some work done lol

The map is looking pretty good, almost nothing left inside the 10 yard line on either side. I'm not sure if there are some other seats reserved for Richmond fans that still might be released yet or something, if not it's look pretty good considering there seem to be quite a few people who are wanting to walk up and buy due to TicketMaster fees.

I think you may be right and I am hoping this is what's happening. This may have gotten more students talking about the game and making it more the 'place to be' come Saturday. If we have a rocking crowd with a lot of students and win the game, they may see how fun it can be and really help next year in the student numbers. Or better yet, the following Saturday should it work out we got to host a second game if we win!

Does anybody know if there are any watch parties anywhere? I'm particulalry interested in if anybody in the Gilber/Mesa area is getting together or going somewhere for the game. Hockey championship had a nice watch party at RT O'Sullivans. However i believe that is where the Ag schoold holds their playoff football watch parties as well, and their game on Saturday may not be done by the time ours starts.

Only took JohnBoy 14 minutes to defend NDSU.....glad he is monitoring our attendance thread so closely.

I agree the team deserves the support. However I bet Richmond's team felt like they deserved a lot more support than 3,281 that was reported for their game last week too. I would love a full house, but we are not there yet but we are making strong progress towards it. Let's wait and see the attendance numbers for this weekend from all the other FCS playoff games before we start the 'pathetic fan base' chant, that's all I would ask. We probably do have the longest thread on attendance of any other team I bet lol, but that is a good thing as it shows that it is important to all of us which leads me to believe we will get where we want to be.

Totally agree. If we would have had a first round game last weekend and attendance was 5,800....the board would have been lit up with 'Pathetic' chants even though it would have been the highest of every other game. There is nothing wrong with high expectations, but we can't just look at NDSU, Montana, and UND hockey numbers to base our fan base from. Comparable to other FCS schools we are pretty good. I believe somebody else posted that EWU had 6,200 in a 3rd round game not too long ago and they obviously have some strong football tradition the past several years. I have no doubt we can keep building ours and get to a rocking 10-11k plus crowd every game in the near future.

He seems pretty confident in us winning, nice to get a little respect there. Although I'm sure some of that is due to Richmond's injuries and backup QB in....but the backup looked pretty good last week...or so I've heard.

I didn't mean to bash UND football if that is what you are thinking. I follow the football team a LOT closer than hockey so by no means did I mean to bash UND football. Hockey is at the top level at the collegiate level that is a fact. FCS has a lot of talented guys in it though and it's a pretty high level of football and fun to watch. UND hockey has a lot closer ties to players going pro though than football, which fans love seeing. That is the only point I was trying to make while trying to point out that the makeup of the fan base is slightly different and some of the reasons why if there were 11k at a hockey game on Friday night, why it doesn't immediately translate into 11k at a football game the next day.

^^This Folks there are NDSU grads that root for UND hockey and go to games, and would never travel up to Grand Forks to go to a football game. For those who say if hockey can get over 10k, there is at least a 10k plus local fan base right now that should be able to go to football games. You can't compare UND hockey to UND football. 1. Hockey is truly DI and every year we have players going on to play in the NHL 2. Hockey has 8 DI titles and a ton of Frozen Four appearances in the last 10-12 years 3. It's the only DI hockey program in the state for people to get behind and follow. 4. The arena is a 100 Million dollar plus arena that is the best in college hockey and just an amazing venue I have a couple close high school buddies who went to NDSU and live in Fargo and are Bison season football ticket holders, heck one teaches a few classes at NDSU part time. They both every year make a trip or two up to Grand Forks for hockey games and fully root for UND to win hockey championships. They will never do this for UND football.....no matter if the Bison go 0-11 for five years and we win 5 Natty's in a row in football. So to say there are 11k of people who just went to a hockey game, why don't they all go to the football game on Saturday is apples .vs. oranges. I'm just making a point here, but it doesn't mean that I don't want 10k for the football game and will be disappointed if we don't get some decent attendance numbers.....and a Win of course!

It is funny that he still likes to act as an "impartial viewer/posted" but 95% of his comments are to prove or show that UND is no good, and then he has his occasional 5% post that seems unbiased....to try and make it seems like he is unbiased. I think he actually thinks we believe he is unbiased and that he'd like or be ok with UND winning Guaranteed he'd love it if UND gets beat on Saturday.

That would be a perfect scenario and I hope that happens. However if he got a big payday opportunity before that couldn't fault him for leaving for something that 'might' happen a few years down the road. Since he played here and has strong ties hopefully that will help keep him around.

We all know Schmidt has done such a great job with the defense since taking over. Turning the defense around in just one year with basically the same players. Do we think he would stick around until Bubba retires......to possibly become the head coach? Or will he take an FBS job or something sometime to move up? I've wondered this for a while, and tonight I'm watching Arizona - Arizona State game and watching Arizona which is a 2-9 team put up 56 points on ASU and over 500 yards rushing. I've seen ASU's defense look like crap ever since I moved down here (4 years ago) and started following them. They were nationally ranked a couple years ago, but their defense has always been poor. Every time I see their defense s**t the bed I can't help but think how unfair it is that their defensive coordinator likely makes 2-3 times that Schmidt does. I think you could have put UND's players with Schmidt coaching them in this game and had better results, with what should be less talent.

I feel kind of bad for a couple people on here who bought tickets right away and are driving a couple hundred miles and sitting on the 10 yard line, when they could be on the 40 insteady. It's like they are penalized for being the most loyal and buying tickets right away.

It's awesome that we are finally getting some more recognition as a team, and the individual players. Now we need to keep it going so that we also get the respect we deserve as well. I am guessing a lot of the Montana fans don't respect us yet and think we are a one year wonder or flash in the pan.

It sure was fun watching Burnell run. Not the type of guy that would strike fear into opponents if they just watched him in warm ups, but man all he did was gain yards.

It's hard to beat a really good team twice. NDSU will be ready for SDSU should they meet in the playoffs and I'm expecting that NDSU will win.

I was curious about that as well and was going to pose that question yesterday.........what was the lowest seed to win the FCS (I-AA) Championship in the last 25 years.

I agree with you they could have justified either UND or SDSU at 7 if they wanted to. If SDSU was at 7 it would have made for a couple interesting cross conference matchup possibilities with SDSU at EWU and UND at NDSU. A UND at NDSU playoff game would be quite the atmosphere that's for sure!

I agree, it's a little baffling that we can get 10 or 11k early in the year and then only get 8k for a playoff game. I realize that Potato Bowl and Homecoming have a lot of things going on and that helps with attendance.....but still seems like we should get at least 10k for a playoff game. Our late season attendance numbers just haven't been good the last few years.....which sucks. Our fan base isn't use to playing meaningful games this late in the year, but seems to be even MORE reason to go to the game!
