Doesn't seem like he reads that very well, not the first time he has made the wrong choice.
-
We need a few good short yardage pass plays, that look like we are lined up to run it.
-
On 3rd or 4th and 2.....honestly I don't trust our OL to get it. Our Interior OL is a lot different than it was in the spring.
-
I agree, I'd give us 1%. But ya....the other team(s) that may be 6-5 would be one that would have beaten us.
-
Yes he did. There is no way you can't at least say the guy is cool as the other side of the pillow.
-
At least it looks like his arm, not a leg/knee or something. Still sucks.
-
Perfect throw by Tommy with some serious heat coming at him.
-
Ok, lets score after this TO....not a 3 and out!!
-
Well we usually go 3 and out after a big turnover type of play.....so that was normal.
-
Blocked Punt....Fire Kostich right.

Danny is pretty good 80% of the time. But in the key situations where you really need to make the right call/play, it has.....Not Been Good
-
I like Danny...but sometimes Ugh! I mean Kelly Howe could see we need to run to the outside, so he knows it....I know it, but apparently Danny doesn't know it and after a great first down he sh*ts the bed by running it up the gut twice...wtf.

I enjoy the FBS games too, and I wasn't trying to imply it was a mistake. The way the season went though, wish it would have been one of the years we didn't play one. That's assuming we win the next two. If we win the next two, which would mean we beat SDSU at home, we are probably as dangerous as most other teams that will make the playoffs. If we get beat by SDSU then it wouldn't have mattered. Seems to be more parity than there has been for a while in the FCS, I think there are truly a handful of different teams that could win it this year. We are the ones that screwed up all of our chances, all we had to do is pull one of those other ones out. I think we've got FBS games most of the next several years, which I think is generally a good thing. And I agree with that first quarter of Utah State, that was fun. I think all of our expectations for the season went through the roof watching that first quarter, they all sadly came crashing down ever since the crossing WR ran into our RB on that 3rd down.

Was only able to listen to the game on the radio on Saturday, glad they finally pulled out a win. Tommy may have some limitations, but I don't think you can say he locks in on one receiver. Well at least not in this game as I watched the replay of the game tonight and watched for it, many times he went to his 2nd or 3rd read. The first TD is an example, that wasn't his first read. The two point conversion at the end also wasn't his first read. I know there was another play he went to his 3rd look and got a completion. There were other plays he didn't go with his first look. I would like to see them open it up a bit more with Quincy at times when he is in there to see what he can do. That said, the one bubble screen to the left Quincy way overshot the WR and I don't think the WR even got his hands on the ball. Tommy probably puts that right in his chest and he picks up 10 yards or maybe more. McNaboe starting at DE, heck I don't even think I knew his name until a couple of weeks ago when he got that pick. Hopefully next week we can break the streak of giving up points on the first few drives.

So if we win out the rest of the way, and would have played a middle of the road FCS school instead of Utah State and won that game, would we be in the playoffs because we were 7-4?
-
I think he was referring to EWU.

I kind of agree with this, and wasn't able to see the play this weekend due to streaming being out. However remember at Cal Poly, when I think it was Boltmann who went in motion to the left on 4th and 2, and we faked a hand off (I think) and we hit the TE on a crossing route and he took it in for a TD and the win. Danny was the hero and I think nearly everyone said it was a great call. Now if that pass goes incomplete, Danny looks like an idiot and we are asking why didn't we run it. Again not saying he shouldn't have run Otis on this 4th down this weekend, but trick plays either look really good or really silly depending on if they work or not. I'm guessing the 5 times they ran it in practice previous to the game the executed it just fine. The 4th down against NDSU, a reverse that didn't work, also looked dumb. When there is extra pressure on when running a 4th down and short and so many guys right at the line of scrimmage, yeah probably not the best time to run some of these gadget plays. It certainly hasn't worked lately. I know we were running the ball fairly well this past weekend, but not sure how well we were running it when it was a predictable run play because I couldn't see the second half. We seem to struggle when the defense knows it's a running play, so I think that is part of reason Danny goes to the bag of tricks.....and it hasn't worked.

Agree, that was just my feelings after several beverages and getting back to my room and reading the thread before I crashed.

It’s funny some of you Otis haters are blaming this all on him. I really think some of you legitimately want him to F up and get kicked off the team. Some of you are pathetic and are the reason I hate people sometimes.

Thanks for the update since stream isn’t working! Let’s go Hawks!
-
Was a nice call since Quincy through that bubble screen last week

The Tin Roof has Hawkeye watch party every weekend, they may have ESPN Plus. Iowa game started at 11:00. Haven’t been there though.
-
Agree, hopefully somebody posts if they play the game there. Will watch from our room and then maybe come watch 2nd half of it’s on there.

Cool, good to know! I assume they wouldn’t be playing audio or anything, but just having it on is pretty good.
