ASU’s QB gets a new Mustang GT. So in a couple years will be the top college players be making a million a year off endorsements etc? This is going to turn into a s**t show if you ask me. Recruiting will have little to do with winning and the coaches soon, it will be how much they and their boosters can promise new recruits will make.

We are #3 on the toughest schedules for top 25 teams. Plenty of opportunities this year to prove our worth. I think without a doubt being in the MVFC has been a change for the better. Better for rivalries, better for recruiting, more drivable road trips for most, more respect in the polls when you win etc. etc.. https://herosports.com/fcs-football-2021-toughest-schedules-bzbz/?fbclid=IwAR0MQtJfyHZJ512uMw2iMtFa15To3ZZpu3Xg2YbZGocd6gYqyLFdL6N7ewk

I’d say there is a pretty good chance one of the three, Schuster, Vaughn, or Feeney will not be here in two years. In two years whoever is 3rd string will likely transfer out to get some playing time. Will be interesting to see how things play out the next year or two at QB.

I agree on the arms, and for me the hands also. Shouldn't have made it 2/3 Hawk 1/3 Man then I think it would be ok. Either way I'm not going to get too worked up about it.

Hopefully the below blurb from Millers article has more to do with an improved deep ball on our end, than the DB's being toast. Either way good to see Schuster take some deep shots in practice so they can hopefully be in sync on this come the regular season. Hopefully an improved deep ball can more than offset our growing pains from a younger OL. Looking good: In what has become a daily occurrence, Schuster hit Maag on a long bomb with Maag cruising past defenders wide open. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/football/7151129-UND-football-camp-Day-6-Chrysten-Cochran-makes-most-of-increased-reps P.S. Teeder I did break down and get a subscription to all Miller's articles this preseason and season, I needed more UND football fix this year.

Would be nice to see Maag have a bust out year this fall!

Waletzko would have an extra year available in 2022 if I'm not mistaken. Is it possible we lost him to the draft? https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/football/7146177-NFL-scouts-zeroing-in-on-UNDs-6-foot-7-offensive-lineman-Matt-Waletzko

I did just look again, and for guys like Holm and Turner that will for sure be their last year it says Fifth Year. So I guess that helps instead of listing Senior with an asterisk or something. I presume then guys that are listed as seniors now will be listed as Fifth Year, next year. Oh well, now I know. I had gotten worried the other day when I saw Waletzko listed as a Senior.... I was like....wtf I thought he had another year after this. Hopefully he dominates this year and next year, and is injury free!
-
Thanks for the clarification and pointing that out. I wonder if that is how other schools will be listing their players? Guess will have to look at all of the little asterisks in detail now anytime looking at a teams roster. If all schools are handling it the same way, at least there is some consistency. However I'm still sticking with it would have been a helluva lot easier if they just stayed the same status as they were on Spring roster when trying to quickly see how much eligibility they have left.
-
If that is the way they are going to do it, everyone just gets two Senior seasons if they want....that makes sense. However in my opinion would have been less confusing if they would have been listed same on Fall roster as spring, just seems easier way to keep track of eligibility. I guess the next four years we'll have to keep track of who gets a second Senior year if they want. And yes on Vaughn and Belquist, they are listed as Sophomores. However Mitchell who was in the same recruiting class is listed as a Redshirt freshman. Is that because he didn't play as much or what. I dunno, just confusing overall if you ask me.
-
Now it is my turn needing some help getting 'unconfused'. I don't understand the year listed for some players. If the spring season didn't count as a burned year for anybody, wouldn't guys be the same status on the Fall roster as far as year goes? Boltmann - He is listed as a Senior on Fall 2021 roster, he was listed as Junior on spring roster. Spring season didn't count towards eligibility, why is he listed as Senior? Vaugh - Listed as a Sophomore. He was a true freshman last spring and that year didn't count, wouldn't he be a freshman this year, and technically could actually redshirt if he only played 4 games? (not that he won't play more than 4 games....just saying) Siegal - Now listed as a Junior, but listed as Sophomore on Spring roster. Fort - Now Listed as a Sophomore, but was Freshman on Spring Roster. There are many other examples of this. Has Boltmann already decided he is not coming back after this year so wants to be listed as a Senior?
-
I agree, a few years ago this could have been a trap game. We are at the point now, we (fans only) shouldn't be worried about this type of game.
-
Oh I'm pretty sure he will be in quite a bit as just a WR, he is a very good WR.
-
With Vaughns improvement and running ability.....wonder if the Brockstar will be dwindled down even if he is healthy. I think Danny will still probably get Brock in there for some gadget plays and stuff though. Gotta love that defenses actually have to stress a little bit with our offense now. Just gotta improve on the deep ball some, and hopefully that will happen this year.

We are hoping you have a write up today

I'd be completely shocked if Trey was the starter this year. Vaughn should be improved this year and pushing Schuster though, which is good. This year I could see Vaughn getting some full series at QB if he is looking really good. Schuster has proven what he can do in an actual game, the only way to know what Vaughn really has is see him in meaningful situations in a game. I'd be completely shocked if Trey comes in and beats both of them out as a true freshman. Definitely hope he gets in for four games though so we can see some of him this year. It think Trey would have to be significantly right now for them to start a true freshman over a first team preseason all conference QB.

So glad Brady was able to bounce back from his injury and got a chance to start. Not surprised he had a great game when he was given a full work load. Good luck the rest of the season Brady!
-
It could be that they may on only playing Orlando 4 games, as then he would technically be able to redshirt right? If Orlando isn't fully healthy and significantly better then I'd probably be ok with that. However I get what you are saying though, I think we all want to see what Orlando will do in there. If he does end up redshirting, I would think he would be an anchor and a monster in there the next four years.

It's the time of year where we can be optimistic and drink the green Koolaid, and I will take a drink of that! With pretty much everyone back on D, and guys like Fort and Navratil etc. getting experience last year our two deep should be even better, combined with the increased size and depth on DL. Our defense should be a strength. And good news, Rudy hasn't shown back up.....so the offense should still be able to put some points up if the OL plays decent.
-
Lennon has really put on some weight. He came in as a freshman around 215.
-
I'd agree with you on this, each of these games will be tough and they will all want some revenge from last year. Would be nice if we could beat NDSU at home and go 5-0 at home, then if we drop one of these three we are still sitting in a pretty good spot.
-
8-3 is definitely playoff spot, with possible seeding in top 8 depending on a few thing, that would be great. 7-4 Likely playoffs but possibly on the road. 6-5 is our worse case scenario......I hope. Need that OL to figure things out after just a few games.
-
I'd say that sounds about right.
-
That was my thought, on paper it looks like we'd be taking a step back. I had forgotten about the PSU transfer though.....that is huge if he pans out. I agree with other Jdub that may be a few bumps early but hopefully by the second half of the season they are fairly solid. The last few years the OL recruits have been pretty good, so we may be young but hopefully these guys are good. Another nice OL commitment today. I'm hoping with all of these solid young guys and continued better recruiting at that position we can be a bit more like NDSU has been at that position and just reload each year when Seniors move on.
-
So how is the OL going to be this year, better, the same, not quite as good? Losing 3 starters from regular season....seems like every season it goes back to how the OL does. Seems like we've got some decent younger guys, hopefully they are ready to step up! Is it August yet??
