There will be 5-6 big plays in this game that make the difference. That first 3rd down long completion may be one of them. Damn we had them.

2021 Game Day - NDSU vs UND at Alerus Center
Sioux94 replied to BarnWinterSportsEngelstad's topic in Football
I'm watching online on the Midco site.....they have NDSU guys doing the pregame? wtf -
Thanks...I may use that same site too and just checked. Hopefully I'll be thanking you later for that info.

Last time we played Montana State at home, they had a ground and pound running game and we had some injuries on the DL. I thought they were going to run right over us and has very little chance of stopping them on the ground. We dialed up some magic and shut their run game down pretty well that day, hopefully we can pull of something similar again on Saturday. Need to get off to a good start to keep the crowd into it.
-
Holinka could have a game plan to borderline sell out on the run and make their QB make plays with his arm. This game could come down to our secondary making big plays and preventing big plays when SU takes their shots downfield. Our supposedly improved secondary could end up being the hero or goats of this game.

Will we be wearing the black uni's or new green ones?
-
A lot of the DL have added 10-15 lbs in weight which was badly needed. Also I think last year NDSU changed up their running attack on us with their big back in that game last year. Hopefully we are more prepared this year. I think we'll be better against the run against them than last year, but now much better......remains to be seen.
-
I think we'll do better job than last year against their run game, but I think our young/inexperienced interior OL will lead to them limiting our success at consistently running the ball and we'll struggle to score more than 21 ish. We are going to need some big plays and things to go right to get the W.
-
No White helmets, green logo and face mask...... and could pair it with the grey jerseys from time to time.
-
They should have a decibel gauge for the SU game and put the level up on the big board just as SU breaks the huddle so the crowd can see it. That may amp them up to try and get it to 100 or more for each snap.
-
Can't under estimate the power of making their offense feel uncomfortable the whole game, hopefully our fans are loud! Think the 360 guys said UND was on silent count at Utah State, which helped cause the timing to be off on that crossing receiver that Otis ran into on that 3rd down. That play really ended up being a turning point in the game. You never know what little thing could be big in a game, and we need a lot of little things and big things to go our way next weekend.

I don't disagree that he gave UND some good consideration. I just felt though in the end there would be too much pressure on him to go to SU and he would go there, or FBS if he got the right offer. This wasn't a situation like Belquist or Feeney, I'm sure NDSU was recruiting him hard from the beginning. Definitely a good sign though that he really liked our coaching staff etc..
-
They may have wanted to do it to set expectations, so people weren't surprised and pissed off about it for the biggest game of the year when they showed up and saw that.
-
He was only ever going NDSU or FBS in my opinion. Hope we can get Luna Larson.

The move BB put on that Sam Houston player in 2019 was nasty when he ran it up the middle and juked that guy and took it to the house. Not sure BB has super high top and speed or not, but he can make people miss.
-
Jack Wright has been looking good in the playing time he has gotten. Who is our fasted WR with hands?
-
Not sure about the white/black on the shoulder pads, otherwise I think they look pretty decent. I do still like the classic Green top and white pants the best. Wish we'd get a white helmet sometime, I think white helmets with the right uni's can really pop.

I was up camping in the mountains this past weekend with no cell service so didn't watch the game, have only seen the highlights so didn't see Q's fumbles. Sounds like he just lost the ball, not super hard hits or the ball got punched out? Will be interesting to see how they handle this going forward, if he still gets in as much or if they start putting Boltmann back in on occasion to run the Brockstar. I think the bad taste in everyone's mouth due to the 5 TO's etc. will be a blessing in disguise. We got the W and now two weeks for the coaches to chew some butt and get these guys refocused. Hopefully they come out on fire in two weeks, similar to Utah State game.

Since we had an FBS game scheduled this year (likely loss), an easy winnable game is not a bad thing for all the reasons others just mentioned.
-
See the first picture I posted, CJ was outside of the blocking WR but got yanked by shoulder pads back inside. Either way, yes lesson learned.
-
My opinion is in that split second of the first screen shot I showed, Coley thought CJ was going to break free and had the sideline covered. By the time he saw that he got held up, it was too late. He obviously made the wrong choice, but I can see more now why in that split second he tried to go under because he thought CJ was about to break free and had the sideline covered. Anyway....on to Drake
-
I think you are referring to Schuster right? He is saying Quincy should have gotten into the game more because he can run.
-
Siegal was going to, but got held bigtime. I don't think our guys were out of position at the start of the play, they just didn't make the play, which a lot of it was due to holding. If anything CJ needed to try to break harder to the sideline and somehow make it more obvious he was totally getting held.
