NORTH DAKOTA FIGHTING SIOUX vs. CC - Saturday Gameday
Siouxphan27 replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
I think the reason I catch more mistakes from Hammer than Sweeney, is because when the action got fast and furious Sweeney's voice got so high my Golden Retriever was the only one in the room capable of hearing any mispronunciations. Hammer's doing pretty good.... He's improved a lot. -
Exactly. With this south wind, don't want him stuck smelling the ndsu hog barn for too long.

As long as you agree with a newspaper's opinion, they'll print your piece no matter how inaccurate it is. The editorial opinion piece written a few days ago made so many assumptions, and was so weak in its reasoning, it was actually funny. UND Lemmings, here we come.

Graduation isn't about your culture; it's about graduating from said school. They might as well affix a can of worms to the top of each mortarboard.

Are u sure that's a clipboard and not an etch-a-sketch?

I didn't realize Slippery Rock's nickname was Rock. interesting...... From what's being concocted for punishment in regard to UND staying with just North Dakota..... Why isn't Slippery Rock facing sanctions for not having a nickname that differs from their university name? where is the ncaa on this matter!!!!?!?!?

Someone making homemade buns, might dust them with flour before putting in the oven. Or, I just saw a slang definition, says it's a really long fart... So, it may not make the final list of 5 name choices.

We used to make fun of them for not knowing what a noun is. :-)

I find that hard to believe. (The rebounding drill)

I think the Central Valley Valiants beat you to it.....but, inventing words, or changing their meanings, is probably the best chance of coming up with a never before used nickname if that is the objective.

It appears to be an exercise in determining a mathematical model to decide whose penis is smaller, based on variables including but not limited to: Fans, miles traveled, regular season home attendance, regular season away attendance, post season attendance, minor league player percentages, professional league player percentages, FBS popularity, professional salaries, Nielsen ratings, sagarin ratings, local tv appearances, regional tv appearances, national tv appearances, arena sizes, and last but not least: shoe sizes.

I change my vote: Here come your University of North Dakota Fear Mongerers!!
-
I apologize for coming off as a jerk. For the record it seemed as if you were too, by only quoting half my sentence and drawing an inaccurate conclusion that was not based on the context of my post. Yes, the context. Lol
-
Wow. I can't believe I need to spell out the context of my remark, which you decided to quote, but conveniently left out the majority of the sentence. But, here goes: Being known as ND, with no nickname, is what is unique. SMH
-
again, not my stance. read my previous posts if you're interested in my opinion
-
It isn't. I stated earlier I am not in the no nickname camp for the reason of keeping on using the Sioux name. I am in the no nickname camp because I have yet to see a reason (besides fear mongering, and pie in the sky dollars rolling in due to having a nickname) to pick a new one. Being known as North Dakota using the interlocking ND is unique, and I couldn't be more proud if this stance was taken, both for the emphasis it puts on the state, and also how it would tell the ncaa we're not interested in playing their stupid nickname game anymore.
-
My guess is you are wrong. Well, glad we solved that.
-
Well heck, if all the kids are doing it, why not us? I'm sold- let's go with either Fighting Lemmings or Sheep. Your example is not relevant because they have not all gone through the process we have, so it's hard to debate. My guess is if every school was forced to drop their current nickname, some of them would prefer to tell the ncaa to go eff themselves, and proceed forward without one, putting the emphasis on their school name going forward.
-
My point is the name University of North Dakota is what defines the university...not some nickname. Post #1246, to answer your question about the millions. I'm not part of the crowd thinking this is some way to keep using fighting Sioux. I would be proud as hell if we forged our way without a new, worthless, nickname. We are North Dakota - no further explanation necessary. I think you're kidding yourself if you think choosing a new nickname is going to make any difference in the minds and actions of those that chant Sioux at the end of the anthem, or do Sioux cheers, or wear Sioux clothing.
