By going first, we'd have a roster of Billy Turners, Marcus Williams, and other Minn and Wisconsin PWOs. Partnering with NDSU would give them an opportunity for talent. Be the first mover. That's the thing the transition tought us.
-
By moving to FBS, one of the issues has with Grand Forks would be crossed off Taylor's list. NDSU would have its FBS away game.
-
Can problems like what seen on Spirit Lake or Fort Berthold with alcohol and child abuse ever be addressed without the person being labeled racist for discussing the issue? Is the Herald racist for even reporting on events out of Fort Totten or Belcourt? What line can be crossed without causing issues? Family Guy did the very same thing in satire and there was no protest.

Conference tournament to be in Las Vegas in 2016?
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in Men's Basketball
It would probably be in the Orleans Arena. It might be at the same time as the PAC12, MWC, WAC, and Big West tourneys, so scheduling and arena availabilty would have to be worked out. With a fourth arena with >10,000 seats under construction on the strip, 2016 should open up a slot. If it happens, I'm sure UNDsports and the Big Sky will be promoting this. -
Nobody from Phoenix or the East Valley wants to go to Glendale for an evening, but they want to go to Vegas for a night or two. Las Vegas residents actually might go to Glendale for a game! The problem with Las Vegas is that there is too much entertainment options for the locals. But then again, half the population is from Jersey or New York or Canada. Casinos are expected to buy nearly half the seats so most games would be sell outs. The NHL is working overtime to find a arena in Seattle as they already have another western franchise identified in Las Vegas with an arena. Portland probably gets a team rather than Seattle if the new Seattle arena won't be built for the NHL. Houston would be a better choice than Portland but the Rockets owner reportedly doesn't want hockey. Quebec or a second team in Toronto can wait on the Panthers relocating.

The NHL owners have votes. We don't.

Conference tournament to be in Las Vegas in 2016?
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in Men's Basketball
Presumable it is. Teams don't know who advances till a week before and ticket to Grand Forks or Missoula are expensive. Southern Utah and NAU certainly want Vegas. -
They'll play the Canucks, Oilers, Flames, Jets, Wild, Blackhawks, Avalanche, Ducks, Kings, Coyotes multiple home games as all are Western Conference teams. The fans of those teams would flock to Vegas to see a game and spend time on the strip, or that is the premise.
-
The difference is that KC doesn't have any ownership group that wants to take on the NHL. Bruckheimer wants a Las Vegas team now, has major entertainment connections, and has big bucks. The NHL wants Bruckheimer as badly as the NBA doesn't want Sterling. Bruckheimer would bring marketing to the NHL. http://www.forbes.co...ry-bruckheimer/

Faison could offer that the 2017 game be played in Vikings Stadium. Then legislators would be pissed that North Dakota isn't getting any benefit from the game, and mandate an annual game like they do in Iowa and Kentucky.

Las Vegas just had ground breaking on a 20,000 seat arena. http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/10869495/floyd-mayweather-helps-break-ground-las-vegas-arena

The hope is you'd be one of thousands that would do that. http://www.thehockey...icant-downside/ http://thehockeywriters.com/las-vegas-nhl-expansion/

You'll never understand because you don't want to understand. Was in Richmond, Ky last week, which is the home of EKU. EKU is making noise about going FBS. EKU has 14,500 students on campus and has lesser athletics facilties than UND. You laugh at UND moving FBS, but a school like EKU can move to FBS without a peep from you. EKU has a stadium that seats less the 10K. It would have to duplicate the home side stands on the visitor side to make a 15k stadium. Yet the Sun Belt seriously is considering them if they expand their stadium. WKU did the same thing. Richmond is only about 20 miles from Lexington and UK. UK dominates the media there. EKU has to find their niche, wants to stay with the big boys, and wants the million dollar bonus the Sun Belt will give to all football teams from the college football playoffs. http://www.courier-j...TS12/312050091/ Even if EKU upgrades the stadium to two sides, UND will be much more impressive athletically and academically that EKU. Somehow UND isn't supposed to dream FBS but EKU is? So you are going on record that no Big Sky team will ever be FBS? That the Big Sky will not have eight FBS teams in the future?

That's probably what the meeting is about. The proposed NBA owner Hansen won't finance a SoDo arena if it's only for the NHL. Vegas is ready to go and they have a new arena in the works. In the meantime an NHL Vegas team can play in the MGM Grand Garden (16,000). Seattle would be stuck in Key Arena by the needle, which is woefully inadequate.
-
They seem intent on Las Vegas too with Jerry Bruckheimer owning the Vegas team. With Vegas and Seattle, the conferences become evenly distributed so Detroit and Columbus can stay in EST for games. What the NHL will do to keep the Red Wings happy campers. Www.nhllasvegas.com

FU vowed they wouldn't lose a player from their back yard again. They brought in a Penn St coach who wasn't supposed to allow this. Idaho even has relatives that played for FU. It's a slap in all their faces.

Hasn't Gene Taylor and Bisonville suffered enough? 0-6 against UND. Another loss could send them into cardiac arrest. Gene Taylor deserves a break.

A billion dollar residential and commeric development is starting in Williston: http://northstarwilliston.com/overview/

In two years the idiocy in your words will be self evident. Personal attacks are contrary to board policy.
-
You can quit coming to Siouxsports. As a bison fan, you have issues with everybody here. Spears knew nothing about Idaho's short stay in the Sun Belt. IT wasn't til the letter I released that he fessed up. He wasn't telling the truth before so you expect him to fess up now? The Big Sky released schedules after 2016 that don't have Idaho on them. But Idaho will part of Big Sky football by 2018 at the latest.

Williston does have sugar beets in the Yellowstone valley. Oil can be from sunflowers, soybeans, safflower. There's crushing plants all over ND.
-
So Hollywood satire is to blame ?
-
Idaho fans had to be placated to show Idaho isn't on the schedule for Big Sky teams in those years. Of course, the conference schedule can be easily modified to include Idaho, but Vandal fans feel better now.

Finally, regulators talk about stripping NLGs from the oil. What I discussed month ago. The oil shipped would have a major decrease in flammability (increase the sparks necessary to start a fire), but it would cost the producers to build the strippering columns necessary to process the oil before its put in railcars. The loading platforms could end up selling the propane stripped out. http://www.grandfork...e-it-hits-rails
