"Good" muslims need to stand up to these atrocities and be heard. Where are the "good" muslims? Are they cowards because they would be killed or ostracized themselves?
-
The people/students are purposely making a dig at UND's admin for their douchbaggery. A way for them to get back at Kelley is all it is. Nobody gets up in arms on St Patrick's day when everyone claims they drunken Irish. But that's clearly ethnic stereotyping.

Wyoming will never get in a Power 5 conference. If Wyoming is forced down to a G5 level - Wyo's football level needs to be in discussion, but not FCS. I never brought up that editorial: you did. Do you reek of stupidity?
-
Coming from the delusional fan base that thought the ghost of Wolter's would deliver them an annual dance win, that's taking delusional to the next level. ORU is guaranteed a baseball bid every year in the future, as their's only DII competition in the Slummit. Are you going to invite Winnipeg, as SDSU and NDSU seen satisfied to play them?
-
Never ever claimed that Wyo would drop to FCS. They'll fight tooth and nail to stay FBS. What this writer did claim is that Idaho and Montana are similar to Wyoming's ability to field FBS teams. He had interesting quotes from Haslam and Spears. If Idaho can be FBS, UND is surely in the ballpark for FBS.

The Freedom of Information released here from Idaho created waves of angst among the Idaho fan base. Their AD commented here: http://www.thevandalnation.com/?p=9067 Idaho will officially join the Sun Belt Conference as a football-only member on a four-year guarantee beginning in 2014-15 and running through 2017-18. After the 2015-16 season, Idaho’s second in the league, the Sun Belt Conference board of governors will meet to decide whether to extend Idaho’s football-only agreement beyond 2017-18. It’s a set-up that Idaho athletic director Rob Spear said gives both Idaho and the Sun Belt flexibility in a college football landscape that both parties expect to continue to evolve. A number of scenarios could play out, one that could mean a new FBS conference in the west. Further off in the future, Spear also speculates that could mean a definitive break-off between the power conferences and the lower conferences, combining FBS and FCS into three separate tiers, which Spear believes Idaho would belong in the second one. “There’s a lot of noise in the system as I would describe it still with the whole governance thing up in the air and will soon come to a resolution,” he said. ” … I think it’s going to benefit the five big conferences. We need to see how that shakes out and whether or not there any repercussions from that. So the four-year agreement I think seems like the right timeframe for me, for us.” Some speculation has centered around Big Sky football programs looking for a way into the FBS, but when asked what he’s heard on that front, Spear responded: “Nothing.” - See more at: http://www.thevandalnation.com/?p=9067#sthash.3tCVquJo.dpuf

Haslam told the Wyosports previously that Montana would have to build an academic center, locker rooms, and weight rooms to go FBS. That's exactly what they are doing and what I predicted earlier.
-
Griz working on some projects before the 2017 season, much as I predicted if that is the Big Sky transiton to FBS season. http://m.billingsgaz...bile_touch=true EWU, UC Davis, Cal Poly and UND need to announce expanded stadiums.

The highest ranked Slummit team is Omaha, and their not an eligible team but are 200 out of 300. Sac St is 60 places higher and almost all the other WAC teams are rated around Omaha or higher. NDSU could win the Slummit, but they or another Slummit team would be a disgrace to the Division I tournament. The Slummit champ would likely not qualify for the WAC championships. How the Slummit can be a true baseball conference with four eligible teams is truly a disgrace. La-Lafayette, Cal Poly, Liberty, Mercer, and Indiana St are top 25, so its not like the power conferences are automatically beating the other teams.

WAC baseball >>>>> Slummit baseball Losing to Grand Canyon is no shame. Losing to IPFW is. The Slummit isn't worthy of DI baseball or softball autobids. It should square off against the Northern Sun to get into the DII playoffs.

What Should Be On UND's Wish List for the New ND?
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in Community
Watford City is also looking at a $56 mill event and fitness center. Watford could be bigger than Jamestown at the end of the decade, so there is a lot of "catching" up to do. http://www.prairiebi...p/Construction/ http://watfordcitynd...?id=10&nid=2659 What Watford is planning to do is really no different than what Fargo did with the Fargodome or Grand Forks with the Alerus Center. But the 1% sales tax is really a tax of the oil companies, as the tax of Williston or Watford City raises little money from local citizens. Watford City and Williston need to make hay while the sun shines. So does UND. -

The state will not sponsor new athletic facilities, but it doesn't prevent alumni from funding them. If Phil Jackson or someone else wanted to refurbish Hyslop with amenties for basketball, the state wouldn't prevent it. What's Hyslop going to be used for once the IPF is built? Dentistry or an optometry schools could be good investments for the state, much like the rationale for funding the med school. Neither dentistry or optometry can be found in ND and both are in demand. One has to go to Oregon, Indiana, or Texas for the closest optometry school. There's an argument that a PhD in Public Health is also needed. The UAV program needs academic disciplines that match the need: EE, ME, robotics, industrial tech need PhD programs to support its development. The Bakken is crying out for a Geophysics PhD program: there is a great need. -

It is reasonable to believe that the trust fund will be at least $10 B, maybe by 2020. The world economy would have to collapse, Saudi skeiks would try to kill shale oil by flooding market, or there has a be an energy breakthrough in cold fusion or something for the trust fund to not increase significantly. -

Should add programs in Geophysics or PhD is Petroleum Engr. There's a huge demand for Drs and Dentists in the west. They have to come from somewhere. UND should look more like Nebraska or Kansas institutionally. -

I was referring to a replacement/upgrade to Burtness Theatre. Chester Fritz isn't appropriate for many plays. -

Long been a proponent of a smaller rink with video boards that can double as a BB arena. Women's hockey doesn't need to play much in the Ralph, and basketball needs something bigger with video boars. The Ralph should be used for concerts or convention and other events during the week or when the men's hockey team is away. Everybody would benefit. -
What should UND aspire to with the state's and people's new found wealth and promise? A number of projects are already in the works and planned: New Medical school at Gateway and Columbia New Business school New Engineering building Geology / Pet Engineering expansion Expanded law building New UAS research building Indoor practice center - Phase I and II What else? New Outdoor Football Stadium? 5000 seat indoor hockey arena for women/basketball New theatre for performing arts Ophthamology-optometry program Dentistry program Veterinarian program Aerospace engineering Bioengineering, biochemical engineering More medical research Fracking research

North Dakota may end up with six metro areas with more than 50,000 people. I guess Fargo won't take over the state as NDSU people have been spouting about. Watford City and Stanley-Tioga would be the old Dickinson's and Williston's. http://www.thedickin...00m-development

http://www.forbes.com/sites/christopherhelman/2014/04/16/harold-hamm-billionaire-fueling-americas-recovery/ UND's new benefactor on the cover of Forbes Hamm is predicting 2 mill barrels a day from the Bakken. almost twice what others are predicting and where we are today.

North Dakota basements often have high levels of radon. Well drilling of any kind can have radon (gas), but also solids in the form of radium or their decay products.
