  1. Exactly. Detroit and Columbus were made promises that they wouldn't move West. As EST zone teams, their TV deals suffer dramatically. Florida can move to Quebec City, but the NHL won't allow Phoenix to. That's why the NHL is in such a rush to even out the conferences by adding Las Vegas and probably Seattle when it starts arena building.
  2. Our old Great West conference mate, NJIT will finally get a home: http://www.app.com/story/sports/college/2015/06/11/njit-jim-engles-basketball-atlantic-sun/71078638/
  3. The NHL won't allow a team in Seattle or Hamilton without getting massive expansion fees, which will be divided up among all teams. If the Coyotes don't move back to Phoenix proper, my bet would be that Paul Allen will buy the team and relocate to Portland. That would set for three teams in the Northwest.
  4. So brown, black, and white are neutral colors. Red and yellow are accent colors in the Sioux logo. That doesn't change the points I'm making. Some of the nickname choices left need another main color in any logo. A mock up of a logo has to be presented with each nickname choice to make any informed decision about a nickname. How are Spirit or Sun Dog or Pride or Stars adequately represented without another main color other than green, black, white or brown?
  5. Those were accent colors. Any logo could have neutral colors of white and black in it as main colors. A star can't be a star without yellow, gold, or silver as a main color. Blaze needs yellow, orange, or red. Spirit would be hard to represent in a logo. We need to know what the logo is before any voting. That's the point: a logo is essential to pick the best nickname. Blaze or Spirit or NoDak or Force or North Dakota and others: what the logo would be is critical to their prospective nickname usage.
  6. The The Dallas Stars shifted from green/yellow to green/silver. We don't have silver.http://stars.nhl.com/club/m_news.htm?id=672977
  7. This has been said before, but how do you pick a nickname without a logo design too? The Sioux logo vastly improved that nickname. A logo tremendously effects the nicknames merit. How does oneportray a Nodak? With a horse, a person, a blizzard, a redneck, what? Some of ths names for all practical purposes can't be portrayed without yellow, like SunDog, Blaze, North Stars. Do we have to change our colors too, and be more like NDSUs putrid combination of piss yellow and grossest green? If uniqueness matter, Explorers is already taken by a DI school, LaSalle. Should have posted in the final 15 forum.
  8. He'll be 63 in January with 2.5 years at UNI. It would be a promotion, but he'd have to work at least five years to change the culture. North Dakota is a whole different state economically compared to when he left. Curious if he'd take it now. Hagerott has a chance to put in his own team and actually captain the SBoHE.
  9. 25% of people liked Kelley. The majority didn't or were at least ambivalent. Marcia should have been a bigger face of his term. At least people sensed sincerity with her. Kelley did not come across as genuine.
  10. What fruits did Kelley bring to the table, other than career bureaucratic elitist types? Just because someone pledges, doesn't mean they can't delay it to suit their tastes.
  11. Personally, believe some big potential donors didn't care for Kelley. Where is the shiny new School of Business or more athletic upgrades by donors? None of them have materialized in Kelley's regime, only big state budget items or corporate donations.
  12. Chapman, Bresciani et al have serious ethical breaches flaws etc, which actually make them more popular with the stream yellow crowd. That crowd wanted Bohl fired in the early days.
  13. DiLorenzo is only doing what Kelly orders him to do. Kelly would be grievously unpopular if people really knew his style.
  14. Denver is claiming that it's lax program is profitable. With a $2.1 mill budget, not sure how that is possible. But it did increase applications by 46%, which is huge for a private school. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-05-21/lacrosse-win-means-cash-to-denver-as-notre-dame-seeks-validation
  15. Looks like Williston District #8 will vote on a new high school. Their high schoolers previously went to Williston High. Will this be called Bakken High? http://www.willistonherald.com/news/district-school-up-for-vote/article_8fc52eda-0e16-11e5-9212-07c8bb5922af.html?mode=jqm Also, three shopping comp!exes are leasing currently in Williston, with the biggest being Williston Crossing. http://www.cnbc.com/id/102710913
  16. NDSU is making a trip to Minnesota for a tournament. Apparently, NDSU is an easy get, as they don't require a return visit. It would be nice if UND can get the Gophers at the Betty. There would have to be other power teams there too to make it worthwhile for Minnesota's RPI, like Iowa St.
  17. So now you are now board after criticizing me for well over a year? Stony Brook has just as good attributes as Rutgers, maybe even better, as SB is AAU, in the NYC metro, and runs Brookhaven Nat'l Labs. Stony Brook is one of the few schools to run a National Lab, with Cal-Berkley (Livermore and Los Alamos) and U of Chicago (Argonne) among the few.
  18. UAB reinstates FBS with a 2016 target to play again. President Watts is probably a dead man walking, because the Board of Trustees and Bear Bryant Jr wanted UAB football buried. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2015/06/ray_watts_blinked_his_wrecking.html#incart_story_package
  19. Danbury Ct, thirty minutes from Waterbury, where Post is, wants a DI team for their arena. Danbury evicted the Danbury Whalers, a minor league team, and no longer has a hockey tenant of any stature. Waterbury doesn't have an indoor rink.
  20. If Rutgers is going to replace their old decrepid BB arena with a new modern one, it doesn't cost that much more to build it multipurpose with ice making capability. Alumni may chip in endowments for scholarships and a practice rink. But that said, Rutgers and New Jersey seems to have so much graft and corruption, that good things there rarely happen it seems without so many people lining their pockets for doing nothing.
  21. http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-shale-boom-shifts-into-higher-gear-1433104129 US shale producers are now the key swing producers, able to "manufacture" oil cheap and on demand.
  22. Rutgers alumni are studying moving their club team to the Big 10. http://www.juniorhockey.com/news/news_detail.php?news_id=87178 Rutgers was broke, but the $30 mil annually from the B1G doesn't hurt.
  23. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2015/05/29/someblacklivesdontmatter_126778.html Martin Luther King would have been so disgusted with civil rights leaders now.
  24. Expecting DIIs like Lindenwood, Simon Fraser, and maybe Minot State to move their men's teams from club to DI and the WCHA. The WCHA will likely lose Bowling Green and maybe Ferris sometime within the next few years. Club would be the right move for Jamestown. They could play UNDs and NDSUs club teams too, as well as Bottineau and Willistons Jr coll teams too.
  25. CUSA east division school would like another school in their region. Ohio or Akron could leave the MAC, but it would be a big risk. JMU would certainly take an invite. Ga St makes media and recruiting sense, but not good football. CUSA might take USA, La-La or Ark St, but they don't have the geography that the eastern CUSA want. The UAB President is going to be fired whatever he decides, as UAB people have revolted against Watts and the UA-Tuscaloosa board wants UAB football dead.
