  1. What key piece will still be missing following the completion of what's going in at the old Memorial Stadium?
  2. This post probably makes as much sense as any. As SDSU found out, they don't want to lose to NDSU every year, so they made a commitment to not let that happen. Eventually (you could say that now is that time), UND will be in the same boat (or is currently in that boat). Hopefully it doesn't take many losses to figure out that if UND fans are going to get excited about football, it's because we're beating the Bison.
  3. First game of the season that I did not watch or listen to - was enjoying a beautiful (and successful) deer hunt. Glad we won, but also glad I didn’t have to go through a wild range of emotions, like most other weeks!
  4. While I don't see a viable option for NDSU to go FBS, 20 years ago most people thought FCS was a pipe dream too. IF NDSU is pursuing that, I agree that we need to go right along with them. One thing that needs to happen, and fast, is to not let NDSU continue to dominate FCS, especially with their main national competitors (JMU, SHSU, et al) gone.
  5. I've been trying to stay out of the football forums following Saturday's game, but wanted to ponder this topic. Regardless of one's opinion of Bubba (and his current staff), there will be a new head coach for UND in the next few years (not soon enough for some, but anyway...), so where are we at with head coach options? Are we talking a head coach not part of the current staff? If so, who are good candidates? Should the new person keep anyone from the current staff? If so, who? If we hire from the current staff, the likely candidates are Freund, Holinka, and Kostich. Are any of them head coach material? Of those 3, they've all shown their flashes, but also all been burned. We seem to be in a tough position, coaching-wise. Maybe that right there answers any and all questions.
  6. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I disagree. I think we will be great next year. We are so close this year, and have nearly everyone back.
  7. Appears so now.
  8. I’m just sick…
  9. Also unbelievable that some are blaming coaches.
  10. Unbelievable that we didn’t win this game.
  11. Football does not have a good track record on hockey destination games. Hopefully that changes today. I hate to be that guy to actually say it, but today I’d much rather win in football and lose in hockey than the other way around.
  12. Love this idea. UMaine and UNH are the closest to peer institutions that UND has, with D1 hockey and FCS football. Would love to do out-of-conference home and home in both sports.
  13. In 2019-2020, They were fifth in the nation in attendance, averaging an over capacity crowd. https://www.uscho.com/stats/attendance/division-i-men/2019-2020/ another thing to keep in mind is that was Penn State’s decision to start a hockey program essentially broke up the old WCHA. It’s worked out ok for us, but I do feel for Minnesota missing out on all those regional conference games. I just don’t see the passion for the Gopher hockey program anymore.
  14. People keep posting in the 2020 thread for some reason.
  15. haha
  16. Another reasonable question: Do Penn St. fans know there's a hockey game on Saturday?!
  17. On paper, it may not seem very worthy of playoff discussion. But, the article states: "this is how I project the field to look like on November 21st, not as how it looks today." To me, the fact that UND is not mentioned means he doesn't see UND as a team who's progressing as the season goes on, which is a mistake, IMO. Seems like a diss.
  18. https://www.inforum.com/bison-media-zone/mens-sports/football/7256317-2021-FCS-Bracketology-1.0 Izzo doesn’t have faith we can get it done.
  19. I assume that you had to be a member of the team during the 2020-21 school year for this to apply? It wouldn't apply to this year's freshman, or any future recruits, right?
  20. Do hockey fans know there’s a football game on Saturday?!
  21. I think you've got it hit on the head pretty well. Since so many of our 5th years are on defense, I hope that Seguin, Larson (hope he brings his brother along), Krzanowski, and Morrison all stay so we don't have to go through as many growing pains on that side of the ball. Also not sure who's in line for those special teams positions, so keeping those guys around (especially Peterson) would be nice. Offensively, I feel like we would be ok without Maag or Boltman, but having the depth would be nice. Either way, I don't see either of those two as a make/break player for the 2022 season.
  22. Those guys are listed as "5th" for their class, so I wasn't talking about any of those guys.
  23. For sure in at 7-4. Maybe even in at 6-5, but I wouldn't want to go that route to find out
  24. I think it was tongue in cheek, unless I’m also unaware.
  25. Something that I think gets overlooked is that the QB a lot of people like to rag on is a SOPHOMORE! I can't imaging he's peaked and regressing. He's still learning. He'll get more comfortable with running for a few yards if he can't make a throw. He's already knocked off Sam Houston St., Southern Illinois, Missouri St., South Dakota, and South Dakota St. (albeit, all at home, but still not a bad resume). He's done a lot already, and will continue to do a lot.
