I would assume so, but this will be the first broadcast from Grand Forks on ESPN+ (right?), so how would one know for sure?

I predict a close game. Win or lose, at the end of the game, I don't want our quarterback situation to be in question.

Probably the next Clay Matvick. Will call regional games for ESPN / freelance. Agree that he's very professional, and transitions seamlessly between the sports. That's a lot different color commentators to gel with, as well. He was a workhorse last weekend, and will be again this upcoming weekend.

I agree. too many seasons start with a game where a loss is expected, and when it happens we say, "so and so will be a truer test of our team." Southern Illinois is picked middle of the pack, just like us, and we get them at home. Let's make a statement right off the bat that we're ready for the MVFC.

I think I confirmed this. I looked at the UND schedule from the first season (1946-47) until the formation of the WCHA (as we once knew it) in 1959-60, and we played at least one game in the state of Minnesota every season. Since 1960, we've been a conference member with at least one team from Minnesota, so I am assuming that we played away games in one of those rinks ever since.

Also realized this morning that this has got to be the first UND hockey season with no games played in the state of Minnesota.

Right. The press release states that nchc.tv will be broadcasting the quarterfinals. The quarters are usually best of 3 at home sites. Midco has broadcast every quarterfinal game from the Ralph since their contract started. But since this is the still the conference tournament, they might require nchc.tv subscriptions for the quarterfinals as a way to make money. Hope they let Midco put it on TV.

I wonder if Midco will be allowed to broadcast the quarterfinals. I am assuming it will be their broadcast team for NCHC.tv, and the league has let local stations broadcast quarterfinal games before.

Perhaps it's been discussed earlier in the thread, but has the NCAA announced how it will pick and seed teams for the tournament?
