I noticed that quote in the article, too, and I was wondering why they wouldn't be ramped up to play a playoff game. Seems very odd.

It seems like Freund has called a good offense this year. Like everyone, very happy with that development. What I can't understand is why our defense bends so much before they finally stiffen up. I figured Schmidt would have his recruits playing defense like when Schmidt out there himself.

I like our matchup. Would have really been something to have these guys at home, but I think the Weber St. game proves that we are capable of beating a playoff team on the road. Weather should NOT be a factor in the game. (Gametime temperature in the 70s). I expect a win.

No. I would take Brian Lee Rivers over most anyone.

My biggest concern is how much the defense has been bending, but glad that the number of times they break remains relatively few. Offense looks good, capable of putting up points. Will be interesting to see how they do against a really stout defense. And special teams has made some key plays as well, though it’s disappointing how many return yards they often give up. If we’re in, A home game means I think we win. if on the road, I’m much more skeptical.

Thank you. That's what I suspected, but it seems FCS playoff selections are filled with controversy ("quality loss", etc.) it almost wouldn't surprise me if bids were opened once the 8 seeds are chosen.

I asked this several weeks ago, but I don't recall getting an answer - are hosting bids opened before or after the selection of teams who make the playoffs? In other words, do bids ever factor into which teams make the playoffs?

Unfortunately, they probably don't scrutinize bubble teams to that extent. But I hadn't really thought about it much until now, and I gotta agree with you that props need to be given, especially having Tommy Schuster ready to go win that game against SHSU. That was huge.

Will be glad to have Evan back. Regarding saving his redshirt - I think if we're playing a second playoff game (which will mean we won the first one, if there is a first one), there's no point to hold Evan for 2020, let's go make some noise.

I hate to derail this thread completely, but parity in college hockey is a thing, and parity in FCS football is not. Not right now anyway. Hopefully soon it will be.

I don't necessarily think fans are looking for an extension. I think best case scenario is for Bubba to retire after his current contract is up (after 2021 season), after having made the playoffs in each of his last three seasons. (2019, 2020, 2021)

The fact that we had these three at the same time was like having Jenny Krause and the Pudenz sisters in WBB at the same time. Remember that Chelsea Moser was on the team that first year, too. There were also a good supporting cast on those teams, like Alivia Fraase (she'd be a senior this year), Julia K, Jordan Vail, Ashley Bruggeman, and Teodora Tepavac (a minor role, but she could get us a serve if we needed it).

If there were ever a time to bring out the "Leave No Doubt" mantra, the Weber State game is it. Win and you're probably in. Lose and you're leaving your destiny in someone else's hands.
